Twelve

Things are better and worse this week, so no need to update something of which I can’t understand.

What I can understand is a bit of hard work. Did two days in the yard this week, packing up Lizzo’s tour stuff into containers to ship back to the States. Did you know she has a whole flight box full of toilet seats? Otherwise it’s just the gym, 6k walks, and playing Destiny (and I won a season 10 tournament on Rocket League). There’s a little work this weekend, and then maybe a lull before the ...

Eleven.

If you aren’t new to my writing, you’ll know that good mental health is something I preach, while bad mental health is something I succumb to…although hopefully not any time soon. Or ever again…please…

But others close to me are struggling, and I try to help them even though one of them pushes me away, while also trying to make sure i don’t descend into something I can’t control. But it’s tough for me, sitting in a truck stop for days, waiting for work, watching others slide into hell as I tr...

Ten.

The title means we’re into the tenth week of 2023, so roughly a fifth of the way through the year. So…How’s your year going? Mine is…not as promised, but I roll with it.

I’m not rejoining the Chris Brown tour, which sucked as I got on with a lot of people connected to it, but I am back out at work already. On Monday I dropped video screens to the NEC in Birmingham for Crufts, the dog show, and then I was at the 02 in Greenwich for Dizzee Rascal, which was great fun. I used to bounce his Boy I...

Nine

On this day 47 years ago, at 5.02am, I was introduced to this world, kicking, screaming, crying, and probably shitting myself.

So this morning I set my alarm for 5.02am, to see if I felt anything special, maybe a moment of clarity at something that happened 47 years ago to that very minute, but alas, nothing. I went back to sleep, and woke up just over an hour later.

I went to the gym, got a free birthday cake from Gregg’s, had a nice walk around my town, and came home to put my pajamas on...

Eight

I’ve decided not to church up my blog titles anymore. I’ll keep them simple; the number corresponds to the week of the year, so we can all see the weeks crumble by together. Again, this is a free service from me. You’re welcome.

Right now I should be in Switzerland with the Chris Brown Under the Influence Tour, but a misstep by me sees me back in England, about to undergo a medical to renew my driving licence. I was due to spend two days exploring Paris as well, but instead I write this from ...

7 Ways to Love

Well, that’s the most misleading blog title so far, as this blog has nothing to do with love, or the 1991 hit by Cola Boy. And while listening to aforementioned track as I type this, I’m amazed to find that Cola Boy was a side project by dance act, Saint Etienne. We’ve all learned something here today. You’re welcome.

The Chris Brown tour continues and is a very pleasant experience…certainly from our driver’s side. Well, from my view point anyway. Had a good time in Dublin but we’ve spent mos...

Six Underground

Have you realised my blog titles are related to nerdy/geeky/cool things yet?

And while we’re on the subject of nerdy/geeky/cool things, my dad, our friend Frank and I spent all of last weekend beating a dungeon on a game called Destiny 2. Took us 3 stints over 3 days and a lot of cussing and frustration, but we got it done even when I doubted us at Caityl, the final boss.

I know this doesn’t sound like much of a life achievement, but we’ve been playing this game for 8ish years, and this wa...

The Fifth Element.

Not much to say this week. We started our tour (I won’t say who with as I don’t think I can until it’s all underway and the first show has been and gone), but they’re now into rehearsals so we’ve all been sent home. I actually spent most of this week at home, learning languages, playing Destiny and going to the gym, just killing time before going away for the next two/few months.

So yeah, that’s it, but I’m keeping to my word of a blog a week throughout this year.

More to report next week....

May the Fourth Week Be With Us.

I flew to Spain at the weekend; a last minute trip to see my friend, Gianni. I’ve known the Italian for over a decade, having met him when my brother-in-law, OG, had his stag-do in Valencia before marrying my sister, Kay. G and I are both very…similar guys—he’s an Italian plastic surgeon working in Spain and becoming more famous by the day, and I’m a truck driver with a penchant for words. But good friends we are, and I try to see him as much as I can. However, the last few years with Covid and ...

Wet Week 3.

After last week’s aelf-fellating blog, it was time for a reality check. I went back to my old firm, recycling roads and motorways for a couple of weeks before my next tour starts (more on that soon).

No more manning the cameras at Hitler’s old Waldbühne amphitheatre for Imagine Dragons, or climbing through the roof of Wembley Arena to work the spotlights for an Indian icon. The past 10 days I’ve been down in sunny Cornwall, digging up the A30.

I lied. It’s been anything but sunny. Of the 7...
