NEW NOVELLA ‘I LOVE YOU’
RAYNE MATHEWS has lost everything she holds dear to her life, her family and her childhood home. She contemplates life on the streets when a nanny job comes up. With demons from her past chasing after her, she figures that maybe living in the exclusive Hampton area taking care of a little girl wouldn’t be so bad.
ANTONIO KANE BURKE used to be in love, and he was in love with love. His had married the love of his life and was expecting his first baby. But then life plays a dirty trick on him, taking away his most precious Maria. What Antonio finds crueler is that he is left with a little girl he doesn’t think he could love.
RAYNE immediately falls in love with little Alexandria Burke, her laugh, her sweet melodic voice and how innocent she was. However, the sadness in little Alexandria’s eyes tugs at Rayne’s heart. When Rayne tries to make her happy, she realizes that the house of doom and gloom couldn’t spare a single ray of sunshine into the family because of Antonio.
ANTONIO has to live under his father’s shadow, knowing that old man Kane Burke could take away the company anytime he wants. He doesn’t have time for his daughter let alone her nanny. But when one thing leads to another Antonio can’t seem to see a future without Rayne.
But how does he convince Rayne that he loves her, weeks after meeting her. When in the four years he had his daughter, all he felt was coldness towards her. Maybe Rayne is just the girl to thaw him out.
Below is an excerpt of ‘I LOVE YOU’ or ‘DON’T SAY I LOVE YOU’ (haven’t decided yet, maybe you could weigh in)
“Hi.”
Antonio stared at her like he had never laid eyes on her before. But then he knew who she was, her lips had haunted his dreams and he didn’t like it. The more he thought of her the less he thought of Maria. “What do you want?”
He saw the look of shock on her face before determination replaced it. His plan of being hostile wasn’t working, on his part anyway. His body seemed to be reacting and going against his mind. “What’s your name anyway?”
“Rayne Matthews.” She hissed through clenched teeth.
“Rayne,” he begun.
“Miss Mathews.” She corrected.
Antonio chuckled then started off towards his bedroom, “Miss. Mathews what can I do for you at this ungodly hour.”
“I wanted to speak to you about Alessandria’s birthday.” She said as she followed him into the room.
Antonio stared at her in shock as she walked past him at the door and into the room. He couldn’t overcome the feeling of how right she looked being in his living room. He couldn’t explain where his feelings for her were coming from. But he thought it could be because he hadn’t been with another woman since his Maria.
“Of course, come in.” he mumbled as he begun to shed off his suit.
“I was thinking that maybe we could do something special for her.” She went on.
Antonio stopped listening when she mentioned birthday. Sure it was Alessandria’s birthday but it was also the day Maria died. There was nothing to celebrate. He usually spent that day locked in his room drinking himself in a stupor, clutching Maria’s photo to his chest while he wept. Antonio mourned in private, afraid that if his father saw him break down he would call him weak.
He took his shirt off and had the pleasure of seeing her fall silent as her eyes scanned over his body. Antonio knew he had a good physique; he spent hours in the gym trying to release his pent up aggression and some stress. His ripped body was the result of that work out. Antonio watched as her chest heaved, her eyes darkened with desire and when her tongue licked her plump lip, and that was it. He took two long strides and his body was up against hers. He waited for that anger he had seen days before to push him away, but she didn’t.
She seemed lost in the desire building up between them. Her hands smoothed over his muscles and he felt his body burn at her touch. His breath grew raged as his pants tightened around his hard on. He wanted to plunge into her, feel himself move inside her, hear her cry out his name. He lowered his lips to hers and seized them. The kiss was just as he expected, sweet and powerful. They engaged in a quick sprint towards insanity as their lips molded against each other, building up this need to tear into each other.

THE REBEL'S OWN
Charleston High 2006...
“It’s almost prom superstar. Have you chosen your ‘Prom-sacrifice’?”
Ryan Carville studied his best friend, at odds at what to say. He snickered and looked around the crowded lunch room. His ‘Prom-sacrifice’ had to be someone none of his friends had been with, an untouched, unused girl. His football teammates had a long running game that was off the field.

The Depot
The Depot (When Life and Death Cross Tracks) is a twelve-thousand-word mini mystery with a paranormal edge by bestselling romantic-suspense author Carmen DeSousa. If you are looking for her full-length novels, please check out She Belongs to Me, Land of the Noonday Sun, Entangled Dreams, and When Noonday Ends.
They say The Depot is haunted. But in all the years homicide detective Mark Waters has visited the ancient train station turned restaurant, he’s never seen proof. Until now.
As he investigates a supposed suicide by train, he learns secrets of a murder that took place eighty years ago may directly affect his case.
Author Bio:
Carmen characterizes her stories as modern-day fairytales, as they overflow with romance, mystery, suspense, and of course, tragedy. After all, what would a fairytale be without a tragic event setting the stage? All of her novels are sensual, but not erotic, gripping but not graphic and will make you cry, gasp, laugh, love, and hope.
Her first two novels, She Belongs to Me and Land of the Noonday Sun, have reached bestseller status right alongside Nicholas Sparks, J.D. Robb, and other great authors. Her third novel, Entangled Dreams, just published September 2012.
All of her novels are standalones; however, she does link each of her stories with a little surprise. If you read out of order, you’ll never notice. But if you read in order, it’s fun.

No matter how long or how often I showered, it never felt like it got me completely clean. It had to be baths, always baths. They were the only thing that brought me comfort in this world, made me feel whole and clean, like life was worth living again. Perhaps it was the simple act of remaining motionless in the still waters that really opened up my mind, helped me to focus on my journey ahead. I frequently asked myself hypothetical questions that had no answers while contemplating tomorrow’s breakfast, each thought blended with each other with no dam to hold back the flood of memories and hopefulness. “Maybe tomorrow will be different,” I would think to myself, slightly disappointed at the days events. “But I doubt it.”

Bio for Denise Moncrief
Denise wrote her first story when she was in high school—seventeen hand-written pages on school-ruled paper and an obvious rip-off of the last romance novel she read. She earned a degree in accounting, giving her some nice skills to earn a little money, but her passion has always been writing. She has written numerous short stories and more than a few full-length novels. Her favorite pastimes when she’s not writing are spending time with her family, traveling, reading, and scrapbooking. She lives in Louisiana with her husband, two children, and one very chubby dog.

EXCERPT from Crisis of Identity:
The room had already filled five times with sea-soaked bodies. The dead lay head-to-foot, column-by-column, row-by-row, ten by twenty. Victim 973 had scrawled her Social Security number down her left arm just as she’d been instructed. I noted the number on my log and moved on, trying hard not to think about the person, concentrating only on the morbid job some pushy cop forced on me.
Across the high school gymnasium, a man worked the other end of the column. As his stealthy glances trailed me around the gym, the acid in my overwrought stomach churned every time our eyes met.
“Want to take a break?” His sudden question reverberated throughout the cavernous space.
I curled one tendril of hair around my left ear. “Sure.”
I followed him into the locker room, grabbing a foam cup and filling it with tepid coffee. The man did the same from another urn. The burnt brew left traces of bitterness in my mouth. I rubbed my tongue over my teeth in a vain attempt to remove the acrid leftovers.
My mind turned off for a few precious moments as I ignored the makeshift morgue on the other side of the wall. The man’s strong, masculine bass invaded my mental hideaway. “They’re starting to smell ripe.” He gulped down another ounce of artificial stimulant, staring at me over the rim of his cup.
My insides flipped. “It’s been four days.”
He nodded. “Most of these don’t have numbers.”
“Makes it harder to identify them.”
He leaned against a locker. “This group must have thought they were invincible.”
“Doesn’t everyone?” I tossed my cup into the overflowing trash. “Think they’re invincible, I mean.”
“Certain death. How do you interpret that? I think it means, ‘I stay. I die.’ Must not have sunk in until it was too late.” His sarcastic attitude unsettled me, made me want to defend the dead.
“They’ve been warned before and nothing happened.” When the locals ordered an evacuation two years before, it proved to be a false alarm. The residents of the Texas Gulf coast weren’t so easy to convince this time. It seemed no one learned a lesson from Hurricane Katrina. “And…we’re not dead.” Our eyes locked.
Someone’s presence warmed my back. The site supervisor stood over my shoulder and repeated his prerecorded rant for the millionth time. “Mandatory is mandatory. The dead ignored the warning to their own peril. If they wanted to stay put, the least they could do is write their soc number on their arms…just like they were told to do. How many times did the news people make that announcement? Write your number on your arm if you plan to stay. How hard is that?”
I shifted away from him. I didn’t dare write my number on my arm.
“Suppose the two of you take a few. You look wasted, and these guys…” He waved his hand toward the gym. “Aren’t going anywhere.”

FANTASY BY M.O KNIGHT
WHEELMAN’S PRESS will be publishing my fantasy trilogy THE AWAKENING sometime this year. Take a look at the first installment.
Kellan
is an underworld demon. He resurfaces on earth to kill two hunters who seem to have found his weakness. Years later he finds this girl and he feels this supernatural bond to her. They start hanging out together as friends and their relationship soon turns physical. Kellan later on comes across the family of hunters and then he finds out that the girl Sloan’s parents were the same one he killed years back. Kellan is surprised that she survived his venom. He asks her to show him his scar and there he can see the impression his nails left on her skin. He feels this need to keep her close and safe not only because he likes her but also because he knows that she is the key to the greatest evil. But when the hunters discover him he has to leave town for a while.
Sloan thought that the worst thing that could happen to her was the loss of her parents. But when her uncle pulls her out of the life that she had grown comfortable with beside her mother, she soon realizes that things are just about to get worse. She realizes that the new culture and environment were not the only things that she would have to come to terms with. She meets this older man and she thinks that she loves him. But when he disappears she finds a new guy one who is the same age as she is. She then again falls in love.
Jake follows his boss’s orders and tails his boss’s cousin after they spot a demon hanging around her. But he unexpectedly forms a friendship with her that soon grows into love. She moves into the hunter house with him when she turns eighteen and their romance grows. He then faces the worst and most dangerous love triangle ever.
“Hallo.” The man’s deep voice carried a peculiar but sweet melody to her ears.
Sloan shook her head, snapping herself out of the trance the man had managed to trap her in with just his voice, “Why are you watching me?”
“What makes you think that I am?”
“Aren’t you? You’re looking straight at me.” She snapped back. “Are you one of those creepy old men who like little girls? You should be ashamed of yourself.”
Kellan opened the door and stepped out of the car. Her reference to him as old hit him like a ton of bricks. “Do I look old to you?”
Stepping back, a grin on her face and a slight nod, “Actually you look very beautiful, girlish beautiful.”
His eyes narrowed at her. He wasn’t sure what to make of this small girl. “I’ll try to take that as a complement. Where are you headed?”
“Do I look like the type to you?” Sloan’s impressed look turned to that of suspicion.
Kellan was amazed by her boldness, it reminded him of someone but he couldn’t place his finger on it. “What type is that?”
“The type you can lure into your car and stuff into your trunk. Then once you reach your hide out tape me up and abuse me? Those types are still in the school compound. For a pervert you have a really bad eye.” She used her head to gesture at the school.
His eyes widened in shock and then he smiled even more amused. “Who has been filling your head with such rubbish?” Kellan chuckled.
“The news, do you watch that?” She grinned, “Or, are you too busy staring at your beautiful face in the mirror?”
“You don’t pull any punches do you?”He swallowed hard, biting down on his lip. Her blood smelt familiar. He knew it but he hadn’t tasted it before.
“Life wasn’t fair to me I don’t see why I should be fair to anyone else.” She took a step back, a tightness forming at the back of her neck from looking up at him.
“Huh?” he back to being confused.
“There it is the blank look and that annoying clueless sound. It goes very well with your blond hair, but the eyes are the wrong colour.” She mused, her finger tapping on her lower lip, as if she was deep in thought.
Kellan stepped back laughing. He couldn’t believe his ears; the condescending tone in her voice was like the beautiful sounds of wind chimes in autumn.
Sloan exhaled then shrugged her shoulders, “Enough of this idle banter, I have to go wait for my aunt on the curb or else I will get grounded.” Giving him a salute she turned and walked away.
“When can I see you again?” Kellan called out.
“How about never, no, that’s too soon. How about when hell freezes over.” Sloan yelled back.
I could make it freeze for you, he thought. “Tomorrow it is then.” Kellan smiled. “For you I would go back home and turn Lucifer into an ice sculpture if I have to.” He whispered to himself. The girl was a challenge and there was nothing he admired more than a challenge.
“Who was that you were talking to?” Diana asked.
“I don’t know.” She shrugged.
“How do you talk to someone you don’t know?” She scolded in disbelief.
“If he interests you that much why don’t you go ask him for his autobiography? He is still parked there.” Sloan sank into the seat while she tried to get a peek at the car once more.
“Sloan you shouldn’t talk to strangers.”
“Uh-huh.” She answered with very little concern.

AN IDEA
What do you do when you have committed the ultimate no no? You keep the secret for as long as you can.
Charlie Montgomery has kept her child a secret for six years. But when push comes to shove she has to bring in her baby’s father to help her.
Reece Morgan wanted it all, the family, the house with the white picket fence and maybe a dog. But all that is taken away from him in a night. The woman he thought was his future just abandoned him.
Charlie Montgomery has always wanted to be a star in her own right. The only child of a General in the joint chief of staff, she is tired of living in the shadow of her father. Tired that the only reason why the F.B.I let her in was to appease her father. But when she is there she meets a roguish man who is also on the fast track of his career. Should she live under his shadow too?
Reece Morgan is the F.B.I superstar. He built his career of profiling criminals and putting them behind bars. His perfect record has him up for a promotion, to be the director of his own field office. His career on the right track, Reece feels like it is time to put his life in order, and Charlie Montgomery is the center of it all. Imagine his surprise when he wakes up, his fiance has disappeared and so has the life he had planned.
Reece Olivia Morgan has been born in a world she did know could be so cruel. Her mother kept her away from her father for six years, and her father is too angry to hear reason.
But when she is kidnapped, Charlie is able to fool Reece into helping her find their daughter, without telling him he is a father. But when Reece discovers the deceit he is angry and hurt. He puts his daughter as first priority and plans on taking full custody when she is found.
Read the scene that has been playing in my mind below;
“Lee!” she heard Reece call after her but she didn’t stop. But when he called her once more, her legs froze in place, “Charlie Montgomery don’t walk away from me again.”
She could feel his hands on her arms as he spun her around. Everything around her seemed to be moving in slow motion as her eyes locked on his. In that second when she saw all the love in his eyes, she almost broke. If the anger hadn’t shadowed all the love she would have told him everything and begged for forgiveness. But her anger matched his.
“We need to talk about the past six years.” He groaned.
“I can’t. I need to think about the past six minutes of my life.” She tried to step of his embrace but he held her tighter, “I need to get her back.”
“Olivia?”
