Movie Mention: The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn: Part 2

Reblogged from Shannon A Thompson:

So last week I went out to this YA movie–I am not huge on bashing authors, so I will not give an opinion on the Twilight debate–but I have to admit how much I enjoyed this movie.

I have read all of the books, so I know the original ending and the alternate ending. Breaking Dawn’s ending is REALLY good. I promise.

LOVE THE LATIN WAY

In the world of Telenovelas there are the bad guys and the good guys. The good guys are usually the romantic couple, those who are in love and destined to be together. The bad guys try to split them up usually for money, love or obsession. The last and my favorite telenovela that I watched was called SORTILEGIO. I enjoyed how clear cut it was.

From the begin to the end you could tell who were the bad guys and who were the good guys. It didn’t drag on for years, and the main characters weren’t a pain in my butt. The love birds Jacqueline Bracamontes and William Levy, in my opinion, brought out the true love ‘idea’ out and believable. And who could forget David Zependa the bad guy we all love.

My contemporary romance novel COME HOME was inspired by the novela. But in my case it was a question of what if the man you are destined to be with, to love for ‘twilight’ eternity was the one who made your life miserable. When running away with your true love was the biggest mistake you ever made.

Gabriella had been kept away by her father ever since her mother died. But when she finally returns to her father’s hacienda she meets Miguel. Physically he is every man’s dream boat. She tries to get close to him, and at first Miguel draws the line of propriety, he is the stable hand while she is the heiress. Finally Miguel succumbs to his feelings for Gabriella, they begin to date in secret. But then the secret is revealed when Gabriella falls pregnant and is unable to hide her massive stomach from her father. The couple face a new problem, Gabriella’s father want her to marry his best friends son. He talks his godson, Alex, into accepting Gabriella’s child as his own and Alex not one to let a fortune slip through his fingers agree. Running away becomes Miguel’s and Gabriella’s only choice, but before he could her father kicks Miguel out of the hacienda and locks Gabriella in her bedroom.

Does Miguel come back for Gabriella, or does she need to prepare herself for her new life with Alex?

COME HOME IS COMING SOON…..

Featured Poem in Fatal Jealousy

Reblogged from Christina OW:

In almost all my books there is a poem featured: In Star Bright- Invictus by William Ernest Hensley and In Fatal Jealousy is Hoar’s (Forgotten Realms) Dungeons & Dragons.

Hoar (pronounced HORE), is a fictional Faerûnian deity of the Forgotten Realms campaign setting, for the Dungeons & Dragons fantasy role-playing game. He is the deity of revenge, retribution and poetic justice.

THE HAPPILY EVER AFTER EFFECT; THE TWILIGHT SAGA

[image error]First of all let me start by saying that last night I watched Breaking Dawn part two. It was a beautiful movie although some parts did seem a bit choppy. It was like they were trying to get in all the good parts. My heart stopped a couple of times when Carlisle, Jasper, Seth and Leah were killed. I wanted to leave the cinema thinking that they had changed the movie. But thank God it was just a vision.

Anyway back to the “Happily Ever After Effect’ i think the reason why Twilight was so successful besides the obvious and other romance novels is because the readers know no matter what happens or how many books the characters lives are written in there is always that one point that the writer is taking them to, the Happily Ever after. Every little girl who read a fairy tale book always go to the end and read that fateful line ‘…and they lived happily ever after.

I think it is safe to say that people at times love to live their lives through others. Like living life as Bella or Edward, having that romance and disappearing in it knowing that it is safe to go through those emotions with the character, to cry with them, laugh with them and swoon with them. Usually when I finish reading a happily ever after book or watching a movie like that e.g twilight I have this calm feeling that washes over me, like yup she got the guy and now she’s happy. When I left the cinema last night, I was pretty riled up because of the torturous scene that the movie people decided to put in there. But this morning I had this, it was so beautiful, I can’t believe it’s over and this calm feeling like I am happy they got their happiness.

So I think in Romance Novels it is important to have ‘The Happily Ever After Effect’ give your readers a chance to be happy even though its through some fictitious character.

I can’t wait for the new Saga to come on. I would nominate my own, but its not published yet. But we’ll see. I will let you guys know.

Until then have a happy day.
