I've just finished the AGRA Complex series--up well past my bedtime even--and I just !!! There's an aching hollow in my gut for them. It's not quite a happy ending, is it? Equilibrium but not resolution. I had a physical reaction when they first kissed and

It’s not entirely a happy ending, no, but - the equilibrium was needed. I mean, fictional!Martin wasn’t being quite fair in the first place, as the title would suggest, wanting to have his cake (Amanda) and eat it, too (Ben), and was even still getting jealous about Ben?? That’s not on - but people do that! For what Martin was willing to offer, which was second best at best, this is about as good as he could hope to get - and fictional!Ben made it very clear that he would always make them a priority.
All that said… there, um… *cough* maybeathirdpartoneday. Shhhh. Waiting to find out the name of Ben’s kid, to be honest. >.>
I find our shared dislike of Mary Morstan quite refreshing
Now that I’ve discovered it - me too! :P There’s room for the whole world on that train and the more the merrier, I say!

Summary:
“You loved him.” Her voice was gentle as John turned startled eyes to her face. Her gaze hadn’t wavered. “Didn’t you.” It was not a question. “Of course you loved him. It’s all right to tell me.”
John’s hands had been locked together, his knuckles white in the lamplight. He’d cleared his throat, looking at them. “Yeah,” he’d said, his voice rough. “I did.”
“That’s got to stop.” Mary’s voice hadn’t changed, not precisely, or not in any outward way that he could detect, and yet it was completely different. She sounded entirely calm and still very gentle, but beneath that there was something new. Something rather like steel.

Yes! I’ve been posting at night, so - give it about 4-5 hours! Then chapter 5 will hopefully be up tomorrow at about the same time. :)
