Five Fics Friday: Oct. 30/20

Hey everyone!! Here’s to the last 5FF this month! <3 A bit of new fics, and a bit of spooky fics I haven’t read, but I should be starting to read some Johnlock fics soon; I’ve finally finished the list of RD fics I wanted to read, so I should be swapping back over come the Johnlock Fic Club’s fic :)

I appreciate y’all letting me indulge in my other fandoms for a bit, hee hee.

Check out these new fics on my MFL list this week! <3

NEW MFLs THIS WEEK

Mark Your Calendars by saintscully (M, 3,195 w., 1 Ch. || Post Canon, Friends to Lovers, Fluff, Idiots In Love) – John happens upon a box full of Sherlock’s old yearly planners.

In the Shadows by Laur (M, 5,029 w., 1 Ch. || Loose Shutter Island Fusion || Disturbing Imagery, Psychological, Angst, Major Character Death, Grief/Trauma) – Do you believe in ghosts? When Sherlock’s eyes snap to him they are anguished.

The Babadook by CatieBrie (T, 6,886 w., 1 Ch. || Babadook Fusion || Post-TRF, Horror, Demonic Possession, Violence, Halloween, Grief, Angst with Happy Ending) – “A children’s book,” John mutters as he flips it open. The pages are scrawled with beautiful charcoal lines and thick black ink. The cover, bright red, edges the open pages and something tugs at the back of John’s brain. It’s a familiar feeling, black and tarrish and thick in his thoughts. He shakes it off and picks the book up off his bed, turning so that he can sit on the edge and spread the book out across his knees. If it’s in a word or it’s in a look, you can’t get rid of the Babadook. He turns the page, ignoring the pressure building beneath his chest. There’s a closet on one page; paper doors meant to be opened by the reader flutter as John reads the text on the other page.

France by SilentAuror (E, 11,806 w., 1 Ch. || Post TSo3, POV John, Infidelity, Marriage Issues, Anger, John/Mary) – John comes home from his honeymoon to find that Sherlock has gone to France and everyone seems to be angry with him.

The Subtenant by khorazir (T, 12,238 w., 1 Ch. || Canon Divergence, Post-TRF, Halloween, Magical Realism, Humour, Ghosts, Banter, Friends to Lovers, First Kiss) – When you have ruled out the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth. Hence, there can be no doubt about it: 221B is haunted. Sherlock and John set out to investigate their new subtenant and find out more than they bargained for.

Always so excited when @inevitably-johnlocked recs one of my stories. Also France by @silentauroriamthereal sounds so compelling I’ve added it to my MFL.

Omg omg! Thank you for this!!!! France is one of those stories I wrote mid-series, literally in the week between the airing of TSOT and HLV, so it’s not fully informed by all the events of series 3! It was a very cathartic way of expressing my own frustration with John, haha!

I also need to discover these other stories! Yay for recs!

Is it feminist or was there just like… a woman in it

did she actually have internal motivation and agency or was she just like….strong

Did she actually have genuine flaws or was she just … snippy with people and they calld her “a bitch”

Did she actually have a genuine tragic backstory and/or deep dark secret, or was was she like … infertile

The last one tho

Was she actually regarded on the basis of her actions or… either adored or demonized strictly on account of her gender

Okay guys I’m just gonna say this, if you get mentioned in any of these Ray Ban charity event posts. DO NOT CLICK ON IT. It is a phishing website. DO not click on it unless you have the correct add blockers and safety precautions. I’ve gotten mentioned in at least 20 of these at this point, and a lot of them are from people I follow. That is because they have been hacked. They clicked on this link and their account was hacked. Please don’t click on this. I’m just bringing some more awareness to this.

I made the mistake today and tumblr froze my account. I changed my password immediately after realizing wtf happened.

I was tagged in this today as well. Didn’t click it but passing the warning along for y'all!

(I’m wondering if i should dm the person that had it on their blog, to let them know? Or maybe send them this post and give em a heads up that it’s on their page?)

What do we do about this??? I don’t want to block people I like! Do we message them??? What’s the best strategy?
