Eleven questions: 

1. Christmas or New Year’s?

Christmas for sure. New Year’s is problematic for me in two ways: 1) it feels like nostalgia and looking back at mistakes you don’t want to repeat in the year to come, and 2) it’s the day after my birthday, so no one ever wants to party with me right ON my bday. Also Christmas wins for the music, the baking, the going home (at least in my case), all the events, etc. Love Christmas. :) 

2. Favourite place in the world?

Oh man. Really hard to say! There are a bunch of very different places that qualify here. Manhattan, NY. My mother’s house in Winnipeg. Big Whiteshell Lake, Manitoba. Freiburg-im-Breisgau, Germany. The Old City in Damascus, before it was destroyed. 

3. Favourite song THIS week?

Eesh. Way too hard! Maybe Cohen’s Hallelujah. 

4. Favourite foreign language?

German, Arabic, Italian. 

5. Who would you like to hang out with in the Tumblrs on your dash?

More of you than I can list here! There are so many amazing people on tumblr that I’d love to spend some serious time with in person! I can’t afford to travel much, so it’s not likely to ever happen, but you’re all welcome to come here! 

6. What art medium do you wish you had perfect mastery of?

Hmm. I’ve never really considered this. Maybe playing the cello, if that counts? 

7. What novel do you think explains you? (or i not a novel, any other book) 

I don’t think there is one… 

8. What musical instrument do you love to hear the most?

Voices, multiple, together. 

9. Ski-ing or skating?

Skiing for sure. Take my Canadian card away, but I’ve never much liked skating. 

10. Favourite favourite favourite colour?

Black, always. If you’re going to be a colour purist, then I’ll have to say red. 

11. Night owl or lark?

Night owl, absolutely. 

Not tagging anyone just because I’m lacking the energy it would take to think of eleven questions. It might be bedtime soon… 

So, I did get through the concert. I meant to just go to sleep after, but the pain in my throat was...

So, I did get through the concert. I meant to just go to sleep after, but the pain in my throat was so acute that I couldn’t even sleep through it. So after awhile of lying in bed all feverish and sweating and suffering, I got up to look at my throat and discovered it was swollen almost closed. So I went to a hospital. Turns out I have tonsillitis. I just sang a whole solo concert with tonsillitis! I’m an idiot. I’m also kind of impressed with myself, lol. I’m not going to be doing that again, though! Ugh. Bed for me. Drugs tomorrow, plus, since I can’t talk, staying at home and hopefully writing! The violin fic is just at a good place now! :)

Thanks to all of you who sent good vibes for my concert! All of your messages meant so much to me! I did it and I pulled it off and people really liked it, so I’m glad! I feel like absolute garbage, though, so I’m putting myself to bed. I love you people.

So, I have a huge solo concert tomorrow, and I’m battling a horrible cold. My throat hurts so much I can’t swallow, and I have to sing a 45-minute solo program tomorrow. If I cancel, I lose the fee and the cathedral I work for loses a big opportunity to make a lot of money. I really don’t to cancel! Please, if you would, send me good vibes or prayers or energy! Maybe I’ll wake up and find that my cold has magically disappeared. It’s worth a shot, right???
