May your next period be light and end quickly

This is literally now my favorite post ever, because its become thousands of reblogs consisting of passing on good fortune. Meanwhile many of y’all added your own comments saying your thanks, and continuing the chain by adding your own little bit of wishful thinking. You are all wonderful.

may you not leak even once

NOT EVEN when you sneeze or cough!

may you always have what you need when you need it.

May you have no cramps.

May you have no headaches

may you start in your own home/somewhere you are comfortable, in your least favourite underwear and with plenty of pads/tampons on hand

May you have no backpains or stiff limbs either

May your moods be stable (like ZERO inexplicable bouts of crying) and your boobs not be at all achy in the days just before it arrives

“I live in the north of England, I’m used to freezing cold temperatures”

Oh honey.  That’s what the pilgrims said.  They mostly died.

please please listen/read the transcript to Neil Gaiman on NPR’s Wait Wait Dont Tell me because he talks about this and it’s wonderful!

Here’s the main piece:

SAGAL: Why did you move from England, reputedly cold and dreary, to the upper Midwest? Was England not cold and dreary enough?

GAIMAN: Nobody had really explained the whole cold thing to me.

SAGAL: Really?

GAIMAN: Yeah.

SAGAL: It was a surprise?

GAIMAN: Well, no. I was arrogant. I was foolish. The English thing where you think you know it all, I thought I understood cold. I thought, okay.

SAGAL: Oh yes.

GAIMAN: Water gets white and fluffy and it falls from the sky. Puddles go hard and slippery. That’s cold.

SAGAL: No problem.

GAIMAN: I did not understand the acres, the depth.

SAGAL: Right.

GAIMAN: How much colder it can be. I didn’t understand what it means to walk out of doors and take a deep breath, the hairs in your nose freeze and you go, “Oh, it’s a little below zero.”

SAGAL: Right.

GAIMAN: And then that thing that you do when you walk out and you take a deep breath and you cough because it hurt and you go, “Oh, 25 below.”

Truth.

*the hollow laughter of someone from the Canadian prairies, where -50C and colder are very much real things*

The ONE (1) perk of being sick and not being able to be at work: I actually wrote 2,500 words of my New York fic just now!! It’s turning out to be a fun one to write! John and Sherlock are undercover in Manhattan for a big, Republican, anti-same-sex marriage conference. Someone is trying to bomb the Pride parade, and they’re there to stop it. I’m 8,500 words in and SO happy to be writing again!

LOL

I still love this moment so much. I can’t get over how gracefully Ben manages to fall once he realizes it’s inevitable. That little tuck and roll - perfect! Lol!
