Today is Tolkien Reading Day, so it can’t have been coincidence that on this very day I came across the beautiful fanfic Vena Cava by SilentAuror which inspired the drawing above: John reading the Silmarillion to Sherlock as he’s recovering from his gunshot wound. I look forward to reading more from this author :).

Holy crap! I just spotted that my series 3 fix-it fic Vena Cava...
Holy crap! I just spotted that my series 3 fix-it fic Vena Cava just surpassed 60,000 hits as of today!! That’s just staggering! Of my (current) 90 posted stories in this fandom, this is only the second one to surpass 60K hits and only one of five to have surpassed 50K! That’s absolutely enormous! Someone told me once that ao3 doesn’t count multiple hits from the same IP address, but I have no idea whether or not that’s true. Even if this is only six of you who have each read this fic 10,000 times, I’m not less bowled over?? :P So either way, huge thanks to any of you who have read this story, even more thanks if you also liked it, haha! This one was the third of the rapid-fire fix-its I was churning out back in early 2014 when series 3 had just aired and everything in me had to fix it NOWWW. I mean, I basically didn’t stop writing fix-its for series 3 until within weeks of series 4 airing three years later, so… But Vena Cava has always been one of those stories that holds just a slightly extra special place in my heart, so it means a lot to me that so many of you out there have read it and left comments on it and emailed me about it and come back to it over the years. I posted this fic nearly nine years ago now and the fact that there are still people reading it for the first time is absolutely amazing. The fact that some of you are out there on your tenth re-read or more is mind-blowing. Thank you so very much, from the bottom of my heart! <3333333333333333333333333

SilentAuror’s Johnlock Christmas fics!
Hello, hello!
Now that Halloween is over and Christmas is on the horizon, I thought I’d do my annual pimp of my Christmas fics, just in case anyone’s looking for a slice of SA-flavoured Johnlock to get them into the holiday spirit! I have three whole Christmas fics now, haha!
1. Sherlock Holmes and the Case of the Missing Christmas Spirit
Length: 15,017 words
POV: John
Summary: John hates Christmas. So does Sherlock, but he suggests that they do Christmas “properly” this year to see if they can’t track down its elusive magic and discover for themselves what Christmas is supposed to be about.
Additional comments: Pack your toothbrush for this one! It’s an unabashedly happy ending! Prepare also to google yourself some choral music and do some baking! :)

POV: Sherlock
Summary: It’s been eleven months since Eurus Holmes happened, and just one since John and Rosie moved back into Baker Street at last. With Christmas just around the corner, both Sherlock and John are slightly baffled when Mrs Hudson decides to give them a slow cooker as a “house-warming present”…
Additional comments: Some people refer to this fic as the boeuf bourguignon fic, lol. Recipe linked in the end notes!

Summary: John has a secret, and Sherlock is bothered. Trapped together at Baker Street during the lockdown, the tension only grows worse as Christmas draws nearer…
Additional comments: I wrote this one last year when my city and London were both in a very similar level of pandemic restrictions, no non-essential shopping (made Christmas shopping VERY grim), plus a severe level of isolation and the lack of ability to even really celebrate Christmas, etc… it was a very tough time and this story comes out of that. It’s a Covid Christmas fic!

Hey lovely people! I have completed my drawing of John and Sherlock softly dancing in 221b. As in my other drawings, I used tan paper, with red pencil, black pencil and white gouache. These designs really have therapeutic power for my soul!
