Self-repost series, next offering! This story is one of my VERY rare established-relationship stories, but I don’t think that means it’s uninteresting?? Plus their original getting-together is in there, told as back story. :) Fun fact: this was the last story I wrote before series 4 dropped! After three straight years of writing series 3 fix-its, I wanted to go out on a high note, so this story was that attempt! Bonuses: suit porn, skype sex. Plus reunion sex. And pre-trip sex. You know how it is…

Author: SilentAuror

Title: Munich

Ship/genre: John/Sherlock, romance/porn

Length: 13,117 words

Summary: Sherlock has to go to Munich for a case. John misses him. A lot.

Notes/warnings: None! Unless you don’t like porn. In that case… :P

John - Thank you for noticing. Also, you are too cool for school. Or should I say, too hot. Ouch.

12 and 15 for the ask?

12: Favourite place to write: At my desk. I’m a creature of habit for sure!

15: Hardest verse to write: I’m not actually sure I know what this means. Verse as in universe??? Someone explain? (Eeep, sorry!)

ask for fanfic writers: 10. how do you do your researches?

It really depends on what I’m researching! If it’s information, a whole lot of googling. If an intelligence agency ever laid hands on any of my past three laptops, I’d probably get arrested. There are searches on everything from:

“How do you build a dirty bomb at home?”

“How long can a corpse be kept in formaldehyde before it starts to decompose?”

“Structural integrity of the Tower Bridge, London”

“On-ramps, Tower Bridge, London, South Bank”

“*street view of Tower Bridge, London*”

Then there’s basic info like time zones and flight times, menus at specific restaurants, transit routes, for Against the Rest of the World I also had to search things like specific cargo manifests, laws in different countries, local cuisines, etc. If I’m doing location research, like for a crime scene or something, I’ll often just street view until I find a suitably gross-looking neighbourhood or something along those lines. I’m about to start location research in eastern Europe for the current fic. Should be fine! And sometimes, if I don’t find a real thing that suits my needs, I’ll invent one, whether that’s a restaurant or a whole country. So we’ll see!

30 & 31 from the fan fic writer asks

30: Hardest part of writing: Honestly, just finding the time to do it. That’s about it. And making myself wait to write scenes that I’m dying to write until their time has come. I refuse to allow myself to write stories out of order (unless they were supposed to be written that way), but for a story that follows a stypical start-to-finish directional narrative, you can always see the cracks when the author wrote in chunks. Being patient. Yeah. Sometimes, keeping track of all the details in the cases, too. I think the record for that one has to be The Bells of King’s College, which features six different cold case murders, all of which had to be related to: a) each other, b) the current killer, and c) one also had to be related to Mary. I had a whole separate file of notes just on the cases! :P

31: Easiest part of writing: The romantic/sexual parts. I live for that stuff. :)

1, 7, 9, 17, 20, 40. Is that too many? Sorry if it’s too many.

Hooo, that’s lots! Okay! This is also for @thewhippedcreamhand, who also asked for 40!

1: Things that inspire you: So, this will sound negative, but anger. Anger against the canon inspires me to write, because damn it, I need to fix it!!!! Every time I think of a new thing that makes me angry about the canon, another story idea sprouts. I’m at 2.8 million words of Sherlock fic at this point, so… lots of anger there. Lol. Plus I’m just long-winded.

7: Early influences on your writing: Oh, interesting! Honestly, I don’t really know! I would say that any author you’ve ever read is an influence, you know? I grew up reading super diverse authors, but the big pillars were probably Tolkien, Montgomery, L’Engle, the big dystopian names (Orwell, Atwood, etc), then a bit later, Murakami. Also Bill Bryson, James Hilton, Richard Adams… so super diverse, in other words, although lots of British authors for sure. Life experience is an obvious influence. I don’t know how many times a reader has asked if I write pining!Sherlock well because I’ve experienced unrequited love and/or extreme depression, Yup. Sure have. Life is a major influencer.

9: Do you set yourself deadlines? No. For me, that would be a stifling factor for sure. Having time to write is an indulgence, usually, so I’m lucky if I can squeak some in, during Normal Life. Right now, it’s a whole other thing. Not enough structure… so maybe I should? Not in terms of amount expected, but just a specific time, maybe.

17: Favourite AU to write: I loathe AUs. Sorry. I’ve talked about it before (so apologies if this is a repeat to anyone, but I also fully don’t expect that anyone has read ALL of my posts!!), but in my view, context is part of characterization. I would be a different person had I been born in a different time, place, in a different body, if I’d chosen different work/life paths, etc. Sure, some essential core of my personality would be the same or very similar, and I get the draw for people about finding that core in a different context, but I would also just not be the same, because different things would have happened to me. Different people would have shaped me. I write strictly canon-only fiction, because as angry as the canon writers’ choices sometimes (frequently) make me, that’s still the universe that I fell in love with and want to write and fix. If I want to write a different context, I just write original fiction. I do get the draw. I just don’t feel it myself at all.

20: Favourite character to write: Sherlock. Hands down. I love writing John, too, and some of my favourites among my own stories are John POVs. But Sherlock is where my heart and soul live. I also love writing Lestrade and Mycroft, infrequently as that happens. :P

40:  Which one of your stories would you most like to see as a movie/series? Against the Rest of the World, for sure. No contest. :)
