Quest of a Warrior by Mary Morgan #ParanormalRomance

QUEST OF A WARRIORLegends of the Fenian Warriors, Book 1spinoff from the Order of the Dragon Knights seriesby Mary Morgan Genre: Fantasy Magical Mythology Paranormal Romance

You met them in the Order of the Dragon Knights. Now, journey to the realm of the Fae and witness their legends!

Fenian Warrior, Conn MacRoich has traveled the earth for thousands of years, guarding the realm between mortal and Fae. His deeds are legendary. Yet, one mistake will force him on a journey to fix a broken time-line. However, on Conn’s quest, he must face a human female who will eventually bring this ancient warrior to his knees.

When Ivy O’Callaghan inherits her uncle’s estate, she never imagines there will be more secrets to unravel, including the one she hides from the world. With the help of a mysterious stranger, she learns to trust and step out of the shadows. However, nothing prepares Ivy when she learns Conn's true identity.

As the loom of fate weaves a thread around the lovers from two different worlds, will the sacrifices they make lead them to love? Or will their secrets destroy and separate them forever?

Putting a fist to her mouth to stifle the laughter, Ivy turned when the front door to the pub blew open. The cold blast of air lashed across her face, but she gave no care. Her mouth became dry as the man stood there blocking what little light remained in the sky. His silver-blond wavy hair whipped around his chiseled face shaded by a light beard. Yet, it was those eyes that bore into hers—holding her captive. Were they silver or ice blue? She blinked several times, and swallowed.

The giant stepped into the pub and closed the door. Ivy’s gaze traveled the length of him as he made his way past her to the bar. She couldn’t help but follow him with her eyes. He was sinfully dressed in all black—jeans, boots, leather jacket opened to reveal a black tee. He was magnificent.

“Sweet Brigid,” whispered Erin. “Have the Vikings invaded Glennamore again?”

The woman’s words snapped Ivy out of her lustful trance. She looked at her friend. “Vikings in Glennamore?”

Mac placed her coat over her shoulders and chuckled. “Do not fear they were banished many centuries ago. I’ll go see what the Viking wants. I’m sure he’s only passing through and needs a pint and some food. There’s nothing in Glennamore to raid.”

The room blurred, and Ivy brushed a hand over her brow. “Not a Viking,” she uttered softly.

Erin placed a hand on her arm. “Are you all right?”

Ivy lifted her head. The gorgeous man leaned against the bar as Mac made his way to him. “I said he’s not a Viking.”

Erin smirked. “You could have fooled me.”

The man straightened as Mac pointed a finger directly in Ivy’s direction.

Ivy was unable to move, the words tumbled free as if spoken by someone else. “He’s an ancient Celt.”

The stranger immediately glanced her way, shock registering across his face as if he had heard her spoken words.

“Good Lord, you’re as white as a sheet, Ivy Kathleen.”

She barely heard Erin’s words. The Celt moved toward her, a frown marring his handsome features. A tremor slithered down her spine as she lifted her head up to meet his gaze.

“Ivy O’Callaghan?” The soft burr of his voice brushed over her face, and she couldn’t determine if it was Irish or Scottish.

Her mouth stayed dry, making her unable to acknowledge the man’s question. Nodding slowly, she took a step back. Then the Celt smiled, and Ivy thought she would melt right there on the floor. How could anyone look that gorgeous?

Erin nudged her. “Forgive my friend, Ivy Kathleen, she seems to have lost her voice.”

Recovering her wits, Ivy replied, “Sorry. I’m done telling stories about my life in the States.”

The Celt arched a brow. “Not interested in your stories. Sean Casey sent me to inspect your repairs.”

“You know Sean?” interrupted Erin.

Smiling, the man nodded. “Most of his life. I’m Conn MacRoich.”

Liza O'Connor - Proud Mary (The Fury of an Angry Wife)

The Fury of an Angry Wife
While Charles' wife, Elizabeth, has no issue with the way he acquires children, (just as long as she doesn’t have to deal with them), Theresa Spadoni does care. She has been trying to give her husband a baby for years, but nothing happens. Then one night with a coworker and Mary Mason has not just one baby, but two!
Her anger has escalated to murder. It was her idea to set the pit bull on to Mary. It was also her idea to kill Mary’s newborn son. If she can’t give her unfaithful husband a child, then she would at least make certain his child by Mary wouldn’t survive either.

Proud Mary

By
Liza O’Connor
Book 3 of the
Requires Rescue Series

Contemporary Suspense

Sometimes even the strong
requires a helping hand.
Mary Mason may have lost her job and reputation, but she has too much pride to allow vengeful women and their manipulative husbands to destroy her life and steal her new born babies. Unfortunately, pride alone isn’t going to save her. When Captain Chad Danton answers a call about a prostitute soliciting at the local library, he discovers a determined woman in desperate need of medical care. Upon hearing Mary’s story, he resolves to help her, not realizing her enemies will join those who wish to destroy his career.
EXCERPT
Chad’s eyes narrowed. “I was in the room when the father of the boy insisted his wife had accidentally cut off the oxygen. When Mary said she’d get a restraining order, he assured her he’d had already told the hospital to keep his wife away.”
Sanders sighed. “Well, they have no record of that request, if he made it. Last night, the baby’s IV was removed. And there’s no way that can be considered accidental. Those incubators are not easy to open, and an alarm should have gone off when it happened.”
Chad shook his head. “That sounds like something a nurse would know how to do.”
Sanders grimaced. “Not if she plans to keep her license.”
“Check out Nurse Hadley. She seems to have some vested interest in this.” He then told Sanders everything he knew about Mary Mason and her tormentors.
Sanders scratched his head when Chad stopped talking. “You might want to let Captain Wiggens know. When I asked him for police protection on the baby boy and Mary this morning, he…”
“He what?”
Sanders grimaced. “He turned me down and yelled at me for wasting time on this case.”
Chad’s brow rose. “And did you tell him I personally assigned you to the case?”
Sanders nodded. “I did mention that. He assured me you’d be gone in a week and then he’d be chief of police.” Sanders sighed. “I sure hope he’s wrong about that. I have to tell you, sir. Most of your force is very happy to have a real cop in charge. We’d like to keep you for a long time.”

NYT Bestseller Jennifer Lowery & Not Without Risk

Hi Sheri - and all you fabulous readers out there! *waves*

Thank you so much for having me today. I’m super excited to be here! The second book in my Wolff Securities series is now available for pre-order—Woot!! It’s been a long time coming, but I’m hoping it’s worth the wait. Nate and Macy were particularly tight-lipped during the writing of this book but I finally managed to get them talking, lol.

I’ve included a little taste of what’s to come when the book releases on July 6th!

Not Without Risk (Book #2, Wolff Securities)
Romantic Suspense

Blurb:
He always keeps his promises…
Private security specialist, Nate Wolff promised to rescue humanitarian aid worker, Macy Gibbs, not harbor a fugitive. Determined to keep his promise and not make the same mistakes his brother made, he risks his life to protect her from the terrorist group hunting her.

Keeping this one will be the hardest thing he’s ever had to do…

With a bounty on her head for the murder of a man who bought her in an illegal human trafficking ring, Macy Gibbs puts both her life, and the life of the tall, handsome stranger who’s vowed to rescue her, in danger. Emotionally scarred from her ordeal, she trusts no one. But, can the biggest danger she’s about to face be the impact this former SEAL has on her heart?

Blood. Everywhere.

Macy Gibbs looked down at her shaking hands, stained red, still clutching the bloody knife. Her gaze dropped to the man lying on the floor at her feet. His eyes stared empty into space. Fluid oozed from the wound in his chest where his heart should beat.

Her ears began to ring, her vision dimming. They would execute her for this. In this country, she wouldn’t get a trial. Women had very few rights here. An American woman had none. Especially one married to an Azbak man.

Revulsion turned her stomach. Married. What she’d been in was anything but a marriage.
The sound of the door handle turning snapped her out of her stupor. One thought ran through her head as she dropped the knife. Run.

Panicked, she spun in a circle, searching the small bedroom for an escape she knew she wouldn’t find. She’d been locked inside this room for weeks. Had there been a way out she would have found it.

Her eyes trapped on the door. Only one way out. One choice.

To keep fighting.

Forcing her legs to move she slipped behind the door just as it opened. A tall figure moved stealthily into the darkened room, lit only by a dim lamp in the corner. On auto-pilot, Macy struck, aiming for his jugular.

He ducked her blow, his hand coming up to capture her wrist. With a forceful tug, he had her arm pinned behind her, her back pressed to the wall and a forearm against her throat. Not enough to hurt her, but it felt like an iron bar across her neck. Afraid to breathe, she looked up into a pair of stunningly beautiful green eyes. The way he stared back at her made her blood race. Direct, lethal.
Her vision narrowed. Warmth slid down her leg but she didn’t feel the pain of her injury. Memories of what her bastard husband had tried to do to her filled her head. If she hadn’t fought back…

“Hey, breathe.”

Her attacker’s voice, low and smooth, broke through her thoughts. Macy blinked. Why did he sound so far away when she could feel every hard inch of him?

The arm on her throat loosened. She drew in a breath that made her head spin. “American,” she whispered, fighting to remain upright. He wasn’t one of Aziz’s men. Where were the guards? Surely, they must have heard her tussle with their leader. Then again, they were fully aware of what went on in this room and had not once intervened.

A hand gripped her chin, warm despite the chill in her bones. Gave her a shake. Her eyes snapped open.

“Come on, we’re getting out of here.”

How Does My Family Put Up With Me?

It was eight years ago when I took my husband up on his suggestion that he now, no doubt, regrets.

He said, “When you’re not working, you have your nose stuck in a book. Why don’t you write one yourself?”
I thought, “Sure. Why not? I’ll give it a try.”

The initial draft of my first book was completed three years later. And the reason it took so long is because I had no idea what the hell I was doing. Thank God for online writing groups and low-cost classes.

Every moment I wasn’t engaged with my family (which was anytime I wasn’t personally involved in whatever was happening), they would find me in one of my two son’s bedrooms. I didn’t have a computer of my own, but we made sure the spawn each had one.

Flash drives are this writer’s best friend, next to gin and tonic. If seclusion were an option for me, I’d add that, too. However, I’ve found the dispensing of the Evil Eye, along with a pissed-off hiss, often did the trick when disturbed in the midst of creative genius.

I don’t know how my husband and two boys put up with me.
Five years later, I’m still cranking out stories, taking the Hub's suggestion to heart. I finally earned my own laptop and moved my writing location to where it’s centralized and I can keep an eye on things.
“I said, 'write one book', not an entire series…or three.” ß Oh come on, babe! Where’s the fun in that?

If you’re gonna do it, go big! Right?
An office of my own would be ideal.
But I’ll have to write a few more books before that happens.

Cass Alexander - Cover Real - Working With It

WORKING WITH ITThe Persimmon Series, Book 3by Cass Alexander
Morgan Pottinger is counting the days until graduation. Her plans are to leave small town Kentucky and never look back. As she starts her senior year at Persimmon College, she finds herself the object of Nate Stevenson’s affections. Despite her spaz-like tendencies, Nate makes it clear he wants her. Morgan cannot resist the sexy, intelligent guy that keeps her on her toes and ties her up in knots. There’s just one problem. Morgan needs to break up with her hometown boyfriend before pursuing anything with Nate. A series of catastrophes back home continuously interfere with her attempts to end the relationship. At this rate, she’ll be married to the loser by March and Nate will be just another casualty in the disaster that is her life. Lucky for Morgan, Nate’s much smarter than she is.
“How was your summer?”I decide to go with the polite response and say, “Good, thanks.”It’s not like I can say I spent the summer pretending to like my boyfriend, refusing to touch his man parts, and debating daily if I could order a vibrator online and sneak it past my parents once it landed on the front porch.I turn to see if Nate’s through the doorway and catch him eying my ass. Well, that’s different.“Uh, Morgan?”“Yes?”“The, uh, the back of your dress …”Why is he having trouble spitting out words? He’s acting like me, for crissakes. I turn my neck and try to look, but my giant backpack is all I can see.I take my hand to wipe at the fabric, thinking there must be an insect on it. I hit air, then skin, and then the edge of my underwear. Oh. My. God.“Shit!” I whisper-yell, frantically pulling at my dress to get it down over my ass.No wonder my cheeks weren’t sweaty in this humidity. They were getting aired-out.My brain does a mental checklist of which underwear I have on. Red bikini with the word ‘Monday’ written across the butt. They’re cute, but maybe a little immature. And definitely not for display. Kind of like me.I chance a look at Nate and I’m shocked at his expression. Nate’s giving me the most heated stare I’ve ever had the pleasure of receiving. What I wouldn’t give to be on the receiving end of that look for an extended period of time. His girlfriend is so lucky. The bitch.I try to smother my laugh at my brain’s catty ability to focus on Nate’s girlfriend instead of the mortification I’m currently experiencing, but the snicker comes out anyway. The corner of his mouth turns up. He must think I’m laughing about the indecent exposure. Good. Run with it, Morgan. It’s not like I don’t know I’m a walking calamity.“Well, I guess I should thank you for saying something. So, thank you.”I bow my head and dip a little too low. I look down and can clearly see my cleavage. Which means he can, as well. I straighten quickly and see his eyes on my chest. I’m a damn train wreck today.“I should probably run away now. Far, far away, before a giant bird of prey swoops down and rips off my dress. Because that seems to be today’s trajectory. Sooo, yeah, I guess I’ll see ya around, Nate.”I raise my hand and wave, even though he’s five feet from me. I kind of feel like punching myself in the face. Unfortunately, I can’t hit hard enough to knock myself out.Nate laughs. “You’re funny, Morgan. I like that.”“Oh, let’s not forget awkward.” I’m not trying to be funny. Awkward shit is just part of my daily life.“At least you got the right day of the week.”“Yes, I’m good at calendars.”

Five of My Favorite Things

It’s been a while since I’ve written a personal blog post and I thought I might try to get back into it again. The trouble I have is coming up with interesting topics to write about.
Someone asked me the other day what a few of my favorite things were.
Botta-bing!
Blog Post Subject!
Five of Sheri’s Favorite Things

One: My family

You might think, “Well, duh! That goes without saying.” And you’d be right. Truly, I love spending time with the Cowboy and two Spawn. They keep me in stitches and on my toes.

Two: Zoe

This little dog, she's a Rat Terrier, has brought me more hours of joy than a weekend of Comedy Central. Her two favorite words: Kill and Squirrel. ‘Nuff said.

Three: A Beach

Something about the crash of waves, warm sand and sun, a beach chair and the smell of Coppertone brings a smile to my face and relaxation to my mood. I grew up across the street from the surf and after my family moved into town, I spent every free summer day back at the beach tanning my hide.

  Four: Horses

When combined with One and Three, number Four is a damn fine time! On my tenth Christmas, my parents surprised me with a horse. Although, it wasn’t a surprise, really. I’d asked for a horse EVERY DAY since I’d turned five-years-old. Other than my time in college, I’ve always had a horse since.

  Five: Writing

I started journaling when I was young, writing my feelings down about a boy I liked or how awful I thought my mother treated me. The usual young girl thoughts. Those early days of literary noodling led to a love of writing, which grew into what I have today. The escape I find in creating stories and characters is the same as what I find when reading a good book!

Question: If you could pick a few of your favorite items to share, what would they be?

WORDS AND DREAMSSequel to Forged by Love (Book 2 of the Lobster Cove series)
by Laura Strickland Genre: Historical Romance

Dorothea Sinclair has left her small home town in Maine and come to Boston to begin a career as a newspaper reporter. But so far her job on the Guardian has proved disappointing. More skivvy than reporter, she’s even been subjected to a humiliating proposition from the chief editor’s son. She needs a break but never expects it might come from a chance meeting with an Irish ruffian.

There’s a great deal of injustice in Boston, and O’Hare, embroiled in his fight for equality on behalf of Boston’s Irish, is well aware of it. When he rescues Dorothea’s hat on the waterfront, he’s surprised to learn she’s a reporter. And when she offers him the opportunity to state his case in the Guardian, what can he do but accept? It’s the perfect chance to put his dreams into his own words—and the only sure way to see her again.

He sported a long, leather coat, well-scuffed and worn open to show a pair of rough trousers and a workman’s shirt, unbuttoned at the throat.

Nothing wrong in that. Dorothea’s own father was a worker, if a skilled one—the blacksmith back home. This man had no blacksmith’s build. Instead he looked light on his feet, square-shouldered and graceful as quicksilver. Brash confidence rolled off him in waves.

As she stood staring across the road in consternation, he held up her hat and grinned before casting a look both ways and jogging over to her side.

He brought a presence with him that backed Dorothea up a step or two. She might credit it to the set of those fine shoulders or the grin that still occupied his face or the swagger he displayed that made the most of his height which, surely, didn’t top six feet.

He reached her, spent an instant examining her closely and presented her hat with a sweeping bow worthy of a practiced thespian.

“Lovely miss, I’m thinking this belongs to you.”

“Yes. Yes it does, thank you.”

Dorothea reached for the hat but, like the rascal he undoubtedly was, he kept it from her grasp, pretending to examine it closely. He brushed off a bit of grit from the brim and fingered the now-tattered veil.

“A mite worse for its adventure, but no doubt you can mend it, women having a certain magical talent for such things.”

Again, Dorothea reached for her hat; again he kept it from her only to take a step closer and set it on her head.

“There you go, beautiful lady. You will be sure and hold on to it more closely next time.”

Dorothea, assaulted by the full force of his masculinity, said nothing though she reached up one hand and clamped the hat to her head. She looked into his face and all the breath fled her lungs.

He wore no hat and had a head full of copper curls well-tossed by the wind. His face screamed Ireland with a broad forehead and slightly-squared jaw all sprinkled with freckles visible even beneath his worker’s tan. His eyes—but no. Dorothea met them once before her gaze skittered away much as the hat had, only to return again on a rush of fascination.

Tawny gold as those of a tom cat, his eyes held a world of emotions: amusement first of all, that flaming confidence, an uncanny wisdom and a hint of daring. Dorothea responded to the last first—seldom did she fail to accept a dare.
