The Unfair Truth About How Creative People Really Succeed
My most enduring success has come out of hard work, collaboration, and being nice (or trying to be, I don’t always succeed, in fact I am ashamed to say I have sometimes failed SPECTACULARLY. I am human.) The take away is that successful people tend to give to others in their field.
I think unlike the networks mentioned in the article that are located in exotic locales in time and space (I920s Paris), today we can find our networks online. (Helpful for those of us with kids.)
I also think the message of collaboration instead of competition is especially helpful to women who may have stresses that men don’t have–like long absences from their field due to childbirth, or in some fields, a dearth of female role models.
