DO YOU NEED HEALTH INSURANCE?

cgockel:

You don’t need to use the Health Insurance Exchanges EVEN IF you need a subsidy. I just called Blue Cross Blue Shield and confirmed this.

If you need to shop for a plan:

1. Go to this site:
http://www.valuepenguin.com/ppaca/exchanges/

2. Select your state.

3. Find the plan that fits your budget.

4. Sign up directly through the insurer!

I don’t know why this isn’t all over the news. Signal boost please!

Well at least this one’s better than the nephew who is going to eat you during the end times! So don’t look a gift horse in the mouth, Odin.

Been Writing Today

A little excerpt from Fates. Spoilers for Chaos.

Falling into step beside her, Bohdi says, “I’m not going to argue about that, but what does this have to do with finding Loki?”

Not looking at him, Amy says, “He needs to know that he’s not evil, that he isn’t just a destroyer…Odin won’t tell him.”  She stops again and looks at Bohdi. “The next Loki has three choices.” She holds up a finger. “He can be a tool of Odin.” Raising a second finger she says, “He can be an agent of pure chaos, bringing about senseless destruction without meaning or purpose.” Holding up a third finger she says, “Or he can be a transformer—like he was for us when he transformed Cera and saved our universe.”

Bohdi walks quietly beside her for a moment. Scratching the stubble on his chin he mulls her words. “He killed himself transforming Cera…” He snorts. “Those are all shitty choices, Amy.”

Chasing the Bookbub Dragon

So, I’ve heard there is this phenomena in heroin addiction called “chasing the dragon”. Apparently, nothing compares to the first heroin high, it is the best, purest bliss, and everything after that is just ‘chasing the dragon’ of that bliss again.

I feel that way about Bookbub promos. Nothing is as good! Bookbub will give you silly ideas—like quitting your day job. But it doesn’t last, and you can only advertise the same book with Bookbub every 6 months.

So I keep trying other “highs”. Fortunately, no risk of AIDs, but is it possible I could over expose, maybe make people sick of me?

This month I tried promoting my free ebook, I Bring the Fire with  Kindle Nation Daily. It doesn’t have the same number of subscribers as bb, or the same number of followers on FB, still it’s probably the second biggest name in the industry, and it’s partnering up with Bookgorilla, so I get two emails from it (one from gorilla one from KND).

I’ve also hit up a number of sites that offer to promote your story for free. Most of those aren’t guaranteed, so I’m hoping at least one of them picks my story up in the next day or so. I also pasted links to my story into just about every Facebook group that promotes free books.

It’s 6:37 PM. When I ran my Bookbub promo, by this time in the evening, I’d made my money back,  had about 9,000 downloads, and was at around #11 on the Free book charts—at that level, people who don’t even like fantasy start downloading your book. With KND, Book Gorilla and all my FB posts I’m still not even close. A few hundred downloads, and for now I’m hovering at #446 on the free lists. Even ENT got me higher (sadly, although FREE, my ENT promo was the not guaranteed plan. Will try the paid version of ENT—but they don’t have anything left for 2013!)

Anyway, just sharing the scoop—I know there are some aspiring writers reading this blog!

Greetings! Not a question, but I spotted a typo and wanted to let you know about it discreetly (I hope). Paragraph 12: "Bohdi fumes; if he wants to survive he may have to hold his piece." It's "hold his peace." (BTW, I was very pleased to see the segment

Thanks for the heads up. I was obviously thinking about the gun I am not sure he should or should not be carrying. Keep waffling. I’ll fix that.

Glad you like Chaos. There is a short Novella available after Chaos. It’s called In the Balance and it will let you revisit the characters again.
