Hi Dragonsnax,

Thank you for the recommendation! Runemarks and The Gospel of Loki are on my reading list — but I won’t touch them until after the I Bring the Fire series is done.  Ditto for Loki by Mike Vaisch (though I have purchased it—have to support my fellow authors). I am reading Christophor Moore’s Coyote Blue at the moment… but only because it’s about another trickster. I’ve also read Alydia Rackham’s Baldur’s Tears; I’m familiar enough with her work to know her interpretation will be very different from my own.

I’m afraid of too much cross pollination, so I’ve been sticking to non-fiction retelling of the myths. This way, if I’m too “derivative”, I can honestly say it was an accident. :-P

Blue just hit 996 reviews...

cgockel:

Wow. It’s been a while since I completed it; so it’s nice to see people are still reading it. Also, Blue is the fanfic I’m most proud of, so yeah…extra nice.

For those of you who don’t know, I got my start writing fanfiction. Blue is a Loki/Darcy romance, that I’ve been told has converted a few unbelievers to the ship. (I’ve been told some of those unbelievers are even male!)

I need to dream up a story that allows me to write about this.

“You have to surrender to your mediocrity, and just write. Because it’s hard, really hard, to write even a crappy book. But it’s better to write a book that kind of sucks rather than no book at all, as you wait around to magically become Faulkner. No one is going to write your book for you and you can’t write anybody’s book but your own.”

The best part was when I tried to explain this picture to my own mother. I think she kinda got it? Anyway, Happy Mother’s Day tumblr!

UPDATE: Found this via the intertubes on Rebloggy and posted here, but Party-in-the-blue Box found me the original so reposting!
