Left Center or Right? Feel free to mix fonts or suggest color changes. I’m nearly done writing story #25 in my horror thriller short story series. Let me know if you’d be interested in beta-reading this! It’s psychological horror, no gore. Thanks!

Writing Sucks – Judgement by Wired Journalist Christopher Beam

A recent Wired article on AI had the journalist Christopher Beam stating: “After almost 20 years of typing words for money, I can say from experience, writing sucks. Ask any professional writer and they’ll tell you, it’s the worst, and it doesn’t get easier with practice.” What in the world??? I adore writing. I mentor

Gizmodo Using AI to Replace Authors

Gizmodo laid off several Spanish translators, then stripped their authorship off their articles. Then Gizmodo used AI to convert vast numbers of English articles into awful, broken Spanish, deliberately not crediting the original English-writing authors. Companies are using AI to actively harm competent writers because it’s “free”. This continues to escalate. Either authors speak out,

On August 30, 2023, the United States Copyright Office published an official request for comments on how Artificial Intelligence (AI) and copyright should relate to each other. The US Copyright Office oversees how copyright applies throughout the United States, so this is a critical area for authors and artists to be attentive to. Here is

Amazon Asks Authors About AI Usage

Brand new question in the Amazon publishing interface. Amazon wants to know if the author has used AI to generate any content or images. I’m strongly in favor of asking this. AI uses existing authors & artists copyrighted content WITHOUT CONSENT, without attribution, and without compensation. The title of the section is “AI-Generated Content”. The

Romance Novels do NOT Legally Require a Happy Ever After Ending

I have been avidly reading and writing romance novels for decades. I have both in the past and currently belonged to a number of groups specifically for romance novels, both as a reader and a writer. I have subscribed to countless magazines (in the ancient days when such magazines actually existed) and newsletters. I have

Publishing Out of Copyright Content and Gutenberg

One of ways I earn money is to track down old books which are wholly out of copyright and also completely out of print. The only way, currently, for interested readers to read that book’s content is to buy a first edition of it from a rare book store for a fair amount of money.

Enoch Soames: A Memory of the Eighteen Nineties by Max Beerbohm SciFi Short Story Review and Analysis

The scifi time travel fiction short story “Enoch Soames: A Memory of the Eighteen Nineties” was published in 1916 by author Max Beerbohm. This is an amazingly fun story because Max, the author, grew up going to Oxford in London. He was a man-about-town college student. He then writes this story with HIMSELF as the
