How Much Sex is Too Much Sex?

Recently I attended the Building Relationships Around Books (BRAB) Reading Warriors Retreat in San Antonio, TX. During one of the author/reader panel discussions this question came up a few times: How much sex is too much sex in a romance novel? The answers ranged from no sex I’m happy if they hold hands to I love sex and want it in the book.

Me, I’m a middle grounder. I like sex in my romance novels. Sex is a huge part of relationships no matter what some people may say. In a relationship s...

The Joy of Book Events!

With romance icon Rochelle Alers!

This fall I attended two book events. The Black Ink Book Festival in Charleston, SC and the Building Relationships Around Books Reading Warrior Retreat in San Antonio, TX. Not only did I meet a lot of fun people and new readers, but I was reminded why book events are so beneficial.

Now that Crimson Romance and Kimani Romance are no more…well Kimani at the end of 2019…I am back out on submission. Submitting your stories to new publishers can be pretty hard,...

Stop Planning and Write the Book!

Have you ever had a novice ask you for professional advice and  for a split second you want to look over your shoulder to make sure someone else who’s more of an expert in your field isn’t standing behind you. Nope, no one else is there. This person is looking to you to provide the professional advice!

This is how I feel every time someone asks me “How did you do it?” I’m like: :”Do what?” And the “it” is usually write a book. I am six years and fifteen books into my writing career, and hones...

10 Things That Make a Hot Hero

You’ve been there. You’re ready for an escape, so you’ve purchased a new romance novel. You’ve settled in your favorite reading spot. You’ve told everyone you know to leave you alone while you slip between the “covers” with a new guy. You get a few pages, maybe a few chapters in, and the WHAM! The hero does something dumb and turns you off. Total buzz kill! You toss the book across the room and rant about the unfairness of it all.

I know that can’t be just me.

I’ve been reading romances since...

Countdown to Summer!

Who’s ready for summer? I know, I know we just entered spring. Some people are still dealing with cold weather. Well, here in SC we’ve already topped 90 degrees. It feels a lot like summer.

I just got back from the beach. My husband and I celebrated our 13th wedding anniversary! We had a fun, quick, trip out of town and now we’re both ready to tackle the super busy, school is out, upcoming summer vacation.

I don’t take a break from writing during the summer. I also don’t have any big trips pl...

Rolling with the Punches. No Sip and Read :(

Friday started out as a really good day. My twist out came turned out…okay (still figuring that out). My makeup was on point. The weather was kinda sorta warm enough to wear a dress, so I wore one. My boys didn’t give me a hard time as we went to school listening to music. Work was chill, and I enjoyed lunch with co-workers celebrating a birthday. I was ready for the weekend!

Then I got the call. For reasons that aren’t worth getting into here, I found out my agreement with the venue where I...
