Confessions of a handbag junkie

If you’ve been around for any length of time, you’ll know of my deep love for handbags.

I’m the type of person who changes them regularly and if I use the same one for two weeks in a row, either my life is super full or I just love using it so much.

So imagine my surprise when I found that I’ve used this brown leather handbag every single day (except for one week) since 29 September :)

It wasn’t even a plan to buy another but I was looking out for brown leather handbagsfor a colleague (true st...

5 questions to ask yourself when setting goals

Whenever I sit down and start working on my goals for the next year, I follow the exact same process.

IMG_6533

Before I even think about what I want to accomplish, I ask myself 5 questions that I’d like you to ask yourself too:

1. What is your theme for the year?

Do you want more order, creativity, security, peace, stability, etc. in your life? I like to start with a one-word theme and build my goals around that word. E.g. One year my word was simplify; the next year it was consolidate. Last year my...

My 2016 word of the year

Friends, I’ve made you an easy-peasy organising roadmap for 2016. You can find it here.

word of the year | www.OrganisingQueen.com

Let’s run through all the words of the year I’ve had in the past:

simplify consolidate courage create trust shine enough

The thing about a word for the year is that it helps you be more intentional about what you want and need, and also who you need to be or what you want to do more of.

Of course, I do goals (and boy, do I do goals) but the word of the year is something that really guides those daily d...

Happy New Year and what worked in 2015?

A big Happy New Year to you, friends.

IMG_6996-001

My wish for you is a life lived intentionally, goals and dreams reached, and a simpler life following your own path.

PS I’ll be sending out a form on Monday to help you organise your life in 2016, so make sure you’re on the mailing list. And of course, you’ll get the Let’s Do This 9-page workbook too.

***************************************

Many things worked for me in 2015 but I will share 5 of them with you in this post, the 5 things I think most apply...

The power of the annual review

Annual review |www.organisingqueen.com

This week between Christmas and New Year is, hands down, my favourite time of the year.

I absolutely love it!

That’s because it’s the time I prepare my diary for the next year but, most of all, it’s because I do my year-end review and goal-setting for the next year.

A colleague of mine paid me the biggest compliment recently (she doesn’t even know it!) when she told me that of everyone she knows, I’m the only one she’s ever met who is this intentional about my goals.

It’s because I firmly be...

Move – a word of the year review

This post is from one of my favourite people in the world. She is the exact opposite of me, an INFP, and she challenges and supports me daily. Meet my friend, Julia :)

What was your word for 2015 and why did you choose it?

MOVE. I sensed that a lot of movement needed to take place within various areas of my life. I chose it because it was a lovely “action” word and it just felt right.

How did your word play out for you this year?

I decided to focus on specific areas, e.g movement of the body...

4 ideas to keep (next) Christmas simple

Christmas gifts | www.organisingqueen.com

We had a really simple Christmas this year and it honestly didn’t feel like we lacked for anything.

I didn’t put out all the “decor” – I only decorated til it felt like enough I don’t think many people in Jhb went away like they normally do because the shops were crazy busy right to the end… and I am not a lover of crowded shops anyway, so there’s that too. The post office didn’t have stamps (I wish this was a joke – it’s not) so I sent Christmas cards to 3 people because I had 3 stamps in...

3 different versions of end-of-year reviews and new year planning

I like to keep things simple but I also like to do things thoroughly, so I tend to take bits here and there, and piece together my own version for whatever I need.

For the last couple of years, I’ve taken 3 different systems and worked through all of them.

Let it never be said I don’t take my goal-setting process seriously :)

Let’s Do This guide

This one is mine and I featured it on Monday. Get it for free here.

If you don’t really like goals, intentions and so on, this is the simplest one I’...
