Interview on Terra-di-Mezzo
February 16, 2012
Your first novel is titled The awakening of Fire and tells the story of Morwen, unusual female characters, mysterious, cynical, cruel, dark and with evil charm. A fantasy from dark colors, therefore, in which the protagonist is not the classic chosen, ready for a mission of salvation, nor the usual doomed heroine: in the center there is a different woman, which leads to an extreme the concept of "dark fascination of evil". Why this choice?
CHIARA: The project of The Queen of the Underworld was born from the fact that I've always been fascinated by the dark side of the characters and I wanted the protagonist of my books was the incarnation of all evil variegations that leave me breathless. The awakening of the Fire, the first book of the series, recounts the meeting between the Heir to the throne of the Underworld and Prince Galadir and the unstoppable birth of their intense love. It's a book in which is not the Good to take center stage, but this woman of incredible loveliness and cruelty, determined to escape her fate but unable to breathe without the one who did win her heart. In this first volume clues emerge on the obscure past of Morwen and is most often cited the mysterious Andrer, and over the other books will increase the secrets.
This time it's not Evil the enemy to shoot down in order to affirm the Good: it becomes the protagonist of the story and the measure of all things in the novel. A relatively new element or, rather, addressed in various ways in which bad is bad from start to finish without second thoughts or late final conversions.
CHIARA: The peculiarity of my saga is that, indeed, the protagonist is not the usual fearless heroine and pure of heart, but a brutal and seductive woman who oozes evil. It's an unusual fantasy, everything revolves around this wicked and merciless creature and around her way of seducing even a glance: Morwen is cruel and fights for herself, not to save the people of Penthànweald. Even when it may not seem like, she is acting solely for herself and for Galadir, of course. Here, one might say that the darkness of evil reigns in this saga. I would venture to say that mine is a dark fantasy, but I couldn't draw inspiration from any book, were been the two people who I choose to impersonate Galadir and Morwen that whispered in my thoughts how to write their story, and I performed the orders!
There will be a sequel? You have several projects in progress...
CHIARA: My future plans already count ready the saga sequel to The Queen of the Underworld, two paranormal romances and the spin-off of the three years that Morwen has spent in the Winged Horse Reign, a cross-over of the saga sequel in progress and two paranormal series in the pipeline.

Interview on Cogito et Volo
February 16, 2012
The fantasy is a genre that depopulates among adolescents. What is it: escapism? Feel like heroes who are not in the real world?
Exactly. It is a way to drag me away from everyday life and to give life to characters and events that swarm in my mind.
You wrote a whole fantasy saga before you turned 20. How did you get your vocation as a writer?
It started out as a hobby: I enjoyed writing the movie remake of Alien quadrilogy and fan fiction about Japanese anime, then I decided to get serious and since then I have not stopped writing even for a second.
Five buxom goddesses suggest the Winx, Morwen who speaks with the mind to her Winged Horse reminds Eragon and Saphira, the Goddess who can not fall in love with a human because fears to hurt him seems 'Edward Cullen and Bella of Twilight'. How much of other fantasy references there is in your novel?
Honestly I never noticed these similarities! I've never seen the Winx, the Winged Horse Black does not respond to Morwen - as Saphira does with Eragon - and I never thought that Edward and Morwen have something in common, given that the relationship she has with Galadir is a bit more carnal than that between the famous vampire and Bella.
In certain passages in The awakeing of the Fire we have the impression that the love story takes precedence over the story of the Land of Men. What are the keys to understanding the true story that your fertile imagination has given birth?
I started from the character of Morwen, from her absurd beauty, her cruelty, her deadly force, her ability to break lives and sow terror and fascination with one glance. Then came the Prince Galadir and from there I decided to give more space to their relationship, keeping taut the thin wire that is her past and that will remain unclear until the last book of the saga.
Morwen, the protagonist of the saga, is beautiful but violent, physically strong, but with some weaknesses. Matters most to the outer beauty or the values you believe in?
I have to answer about the realities of today, or about the world that lives in the pages written by me? (Laugh) Of course, in the first case, I would say definitely that the values count more, but in the series of The Queen of the Underworld outer beauty reigns supreme. However, there are characters, such as Protègès, who blindly believe in the will of their Gods and are determined to accomplish their task. The Prince Galadir strongly believes to the love that binds him to his Morwen - feeling that will intensify in the coming volumes. So, I can say that if the external beauty is a key feature of my characters, the values they believe are the same too.

Review on A dream of reading
February 15, 2012
"At first glance, I was impressed by the imagination of Chiara Cilli.
The story is set in Penthànweald, a land inhabited by both humans and the Gods. As often happens, however, past conflicts occur between them for the power struggle. Conflicts that will forge a new Goddess, destined to rule over all, the Queen of the Underworld. The Gods, however, can not allow that to happen. For this reason, they create the Protèges, ie those who have the daunting task of defeating the Queen before she becomes - in effect - a Goddess. Morwen - heroine of the book and Queen of the Underworld - has not yet taken any decision; for now she is just 'the Heir', hiding for five years so that she can not be found by the Protègès. Because of a mission on behalf of the King Ashiwar, however, she will be forced out of hiding. During this mission she knows the Prince Galadir, who will accompany her in search of the Five Crystals that are needed to save Penthànweald from the clutches of the Goddess Lash.
Since the early chapters - that make the novel - we are witnessing the birth of an attraction between the Prince Galadir and Morwen. I find that this is a flaw because I think the author could have creating the right "waiting" and evolution of the story itself. In fact, events are shown in a very direct and this probably limits - a bit - the right interest that a reader should have when preparing to read the story. The author would have done better to leave those feelings to the back pages or from the middle of the book onwards. In this way the story would had a major evolutionary path. Besides, this is the first chapter of a saga. I think, therefore, it would been better to let the love in the end, or even the next books. Instead, these feelings appear to be the only substance of the book, which is a shame because the author has created a very original world that certainly deserves to be analyzed in detail. This is not to diminish the value of the book. I'm just saying, for my taste, I appreciate when a book manages to keep his readers in suspense until the end, until love can - eventually - triumph.
Other than that, I hope the author will can write a sequel even more exciting than the debut book."

Review on Vivere in un libro
February 15, 2012
"I start by doing the compliments to the author for having given life to a story so compelling. Finally, a fantasy that has the usual features of Twilight. Nothing of young but a lot of adult and not in the sense of the word hot. We have a fantastic creature, Morwen. Strong, beautiful and sadistic. She is the Heir, the one that, if she accepts, would become the most powerful Goddess of Penthànweald, the Queen of the Underworld. But for now she escapes her fate as well as something else that you find as you read the book. The pages run smooth, reading doesn't interweave because it's a succession of situations and you never get bored. She is magnificent and imposing, always followed by her faithful friend Hurrichein, the only Black Winged Horse. So almost immediately she meets Galadir and the spark fires between them. Too bad he has not the slightest idea what she is. Embark on a journey through the five Lands of Penthànweald, they look for the Five Crystals of Lash, a powerful Goddess who seems to have decided to conquer the Land of Men, homeland of the Prince Galadir. I will not go into details of the plot, just know that it left in suspense and with the desire to learn more. Being the first of four we will see some beautiful, especially if the author keeps on these tones! Finally! No more weepy little girls! Welcome Lady of Flames! ^ __ ^ "

Review on Sognando Leggendo
February 5, 2012
Galadir frowned, looking at her. «I don't need stars to see you, Morwen.»
She turned instinctively toward him, caught by those words.
Galadir laid his hand on hers and an electric shock struck the woman, who froze to the contact. «It could be the total darkness, but I'll find your eyes anyway,» continued the young man. He took her other hand, turning her completely over to him. «I might be blind, but I'll find you following your perfume.»
"Here I am to talk about a new series of the fantasy genre, written by a young Italian newcomer that makes us know The awakening of the Fine, the first book in the series The Queen of the Underworld.
The protagonist of the story is Morwen, a girl looking very physically attractive, with long black hair, an ethereal and delicate complexion, and with the distinction of having the eyes like bright pink diamonds.
Morwen was tapped to become the Heir, the Queen of the Underworld who will rule on all the eight Gods, who rule over the territories, which constitute the great land of Penthànweald.
But she doesn't accept this fate and, for many years, she hides in one of these territories - The Land of Men - while the Protègès - humans with special characteristics, each subjected to his God (or Goddess) - give her hunting throughout the Kingdom.
Until, one day, Morwen is called by the King of the Land of Men, which requires her help to free his homeland from the threat of Lash, the Goddess of the Crystals. At first, Morwen doesn't agree to give her help, for fear of being found by the Protègès, but stuck after a futile bet with the attractive Prince, son of the King, Galadir, she begins with him and her trustworthy Hurrichein - powerful and only Black Winged Horse, Lord of the Underworld, an important character in the story, like Morwen and Galadir - a journey to search the Five Crystals hidden in the neighboring Kingdoms, with which they may be able to kill the Goddess.
A fantastic trip with beautiful scenery, mysterious and always varied, simple characters but always direct, and unique and original places. Morwen, for example, encloses in herself aspects of character different and contrasting between them. She is brutal, cruel and cynical with an innately sensual almost unconscious, but with the progress of the story, you discover new facets of she as the fear and love for others, enough to make her careless and inattentive during her mission.
Galadir appears immediatly as a strong guy and sure of himself, born to be a Prince and a soldier worthy of the Kingdom. Faced with the harsh and ruthless Morwen, he never waver, contrary he has been urged by his strong ego to win her. The relationship that borns and grows between the Prince Galadir and Morwen , is put in evidence; a intriguing and exciting love, without too many tricks or turns of phrase, simple and straightforward: I want you, you want me. A love that passes from the pure sweetness to obsession, touching a deep climax.
Wanting to criticize, I'll make only two small small: in my opinion, being a book to debut a new series that, if the results go well, will be made of four episodes, the cover would have been a little most studied, so as to make it prettier and less angular, but in fact fully reflects the characteristics of the protagonists, but looking at first glance I thought "ugly". And then the repetition a little often of the feature descriptive of the eyes of the protagonist, that ultimately may seem superfluous and a bit annoying.
But I must say that the author managed to whet my curiosity. Some secret is out and the waiting for others has put in motion the expectations for the next adventure, which I sincerely hope not late in coming. Congratulations Chiara."

Review on Bookland: viaggiando tra i libri
February 4, 2012
"Today I talk about this book, the first of a series, written by the young italian Chiara Cilli in her first experience as a writer.
Start talking about the cover that is certainly related to the content of the book, as it depicts the dark heroine mounted on her hellish Winged Horse, but maybe for the presence of the red circle-like lightning to me is confused. If it were been female figure completely, I think I would have liked more.
The story tells of the adventures of Morwen, beautiful woman with a dark, mysterious past and a future to be decided, because she is the Maiden of Flames, Heir to the throne of the ninth realm of the Gods, the Underworld, and she is destined to reign over the eight other deities of the land of Penthànweald. Morwen, besides being a beautiful woman who is always accompanied by a giant Black Winged Horse, also possesses incredible magical powers who tries not to use it, however, has not yet decided what to do in her future, she doesn't know if she wants to become the Queen of the Underworld and so she retreats into the world of men. And the human world is threatened by one of the other Goddesses and Morwen, requested by the human King, begin her search, and then her adventure in the company of the handsome Prince who will win her hard heart.
The awakening of the Fire is insertable in a book fantasy genre, in fact there is a description of a fantasy land, there is a mission to accomplish and there are magical powers as well as a charismatic protagonist. In this first book a few things about the various characters are revealed, but many others are left open and Morwen remained a mystery until the end. She, the Heir to the throne of a Kingdom, which is hidden, who refuses to face her destiny, that trembles at the memory of a knight and who is incredibly attracted to a miserable human man.
So many things have yet to be revealed!
The author's style is nice and smooth though, while reading, I could not help but notice a few repetitions with regard to physical and magical qualities of the two protagonists and sometimes forced the use of adjectives.
I decided to give 2 stars to the book the author giving full confidence for the next volume!"

Review on Romanticamente Fantasy
February 1, 2012
"The writer takes us on this fantastic world where kings, sorcerers, winged horses and riders, are the main characters of this beautiful story, divided into four episodes (books). The setting and characters are described well and the plot is smooth and engaging.
The protagonist is Morwen, a girl dangerous and ruthless, the perfect body: pale complexion, long beautiful black hair, pink eyes shiny like diamonds that hurt you at a glance. Her only company is Hurrichein, a beautiful Black Winged Horse, with whom she has a very strong bond. The male protagonist is Galadir, a prince as beautiful as the sun and with eyes the color of honey. When they meet, Galadir is attracted from she, reciprocated by Morwen. Thus began between the two, a beautiful story of love, but unfortunately impossible. Because of a promise, the two protagonists set out in search of Crystals which are used to stop the Goddess Lash...
In addition to Galadir and Morwen, there are other characters that I would refer you: the mysterious Andrer, the Princess Kamria and the dark Queen Mewar.
I advice this reading, suitable for all ages and not exclusively to young people. Congratulations to the writer for her style... I hope that does not make me wait long to read the sequel.
Before concluding, let me quote two sentences of the book:
Morwen: "I could no longer hide. I didn't. I could no longer pretend not to be what I am. I was conceived with one purpose: to reign over all the Gods. But I got scared and I fled.
I can not live without magic, so I decided to go back. But it is difficult to make a decision, Prince.
I do not know whether it is better to die or be Goddess. I do not know.... "
Galadir: "There may be the total darkness, but I'd find you anyway", the young man continued. "I may be blind, but I'd find you following your fragrance..."
The reasons for my vote:
I have not given a full vote for two reasons: in the story are the magic words, whose meaning is written in the last pages, that's somewhat awkward to read; the graphics has not particularly convinced me."

Review on Whisper- la voce del tempo
January 16, 2012
"We start from the aesthetics of the manuscript: I was not particularly impressed (but do not care much to cover, I prefer to concentrate on the plot). The image chosen, though not received top marks, is suitable to the story that the author is about to tell.
The writer's style is fluid, understandable, only a couple of points I found a little long periods, but who am I to judge them, because one of my biggest weakness is to always put the point too late?
Chiara Cilli, also gave birth to new territories, creating different landscapes with her vivid imagination, no doubt, not lack imagination, she has clear ideas about the universe in which she plays the story borned in her mind.
The main character that the author presents is different from what we usually encounter in recently published books, in fact, Morwen is the Heir to the throne of the Underworld. The girl is extraordinarily beautiful, terribly cruel, she does not hesitate to kill in brutal way men who hinder her plans, she knows no mercy. One thing that I don't appreciate are her pink eyes, but they taste, and probably in the book are too often repeated the words ''pink diamonds.''
The young girl did not accept the destiny chosen for her because she does not want to become a Goddess, she wants to live in her own way (remember the Gods, 'cause they are figures that play important roles from their thrones).
The existence of the girl changes dramatically when enters in the scene Galadir, Prince of the Land of Men, so beautiful. In the course of the novel he will live an intense and passionate love affair with Morwen, a woman who really should not be able to love anyone except his faithful winged steed.
The characters intrigued me but I failed to affections, she is undoubtedly fascinating as type of woman, he is absolutely incredible, but he failed to acquire real physical features in my mind. I'd like to know soon, directly by the author, if she has imagined exactly someone in the shoes of the Prince.
Given the period, perhaps due to too much stress, I have not been able to totally immerse myself in history, leaving me to carry from the adventure that the main characters live, going against everything and everyone to live their love story. I could not enjoy the ending, caught me totally by surprise, there was really an interesting aspect.
The novel is nice, it's nice to read from time to time a few words of our compatriot.
I commend Chiara for the realization of this dream, I wish you much luck in the future.
Are you inspired from this novel made in Italy?"

Interview on Leggere Fantastico
January 13, 2012
1) Hello, Chiara, and welcome to our blog. I am very happy to welcome you and doing this little interview. Let's start with the first question. The most obvious: you are young, how and when did you start writing?
I think I started in 2007 with the famous fanfictions about cartoons characters, and then I draw up the remake of the four Alien films in the saga. Eventually I realized that writing was my life and I decided to get serious, creating the world of The Queen of the Underworld.
2) How did you get the idea of Penthànweald, where did you find the inspiration to create it?
Christopher Paolini and his Eragon transmitted me the "disease" of fantasy genre, and from there I decided to create a world in which my characters could live, but it was a fantasy world dominated by evil, and so out of the ordinary.
3) Morwen is a beautiful woman, passionate as lethal. A different character than we are used to read because she is cruel and brutal. What did you inspire to create a so different character?
I have always been totally fascinated by the "dark side" and I always wondered why the good should triumph over evil, although it was considerably higher. So, I created Morwen that with the passage of time has proved to be exactly what I wanted: the embodiment of absolute perfection of an incontestable leader. How says my favorite author, Keri Arthur, in the fourth book in the series Riley Jenson: "Because is in the darkness that dwells in power." I could not agree more!
4) In the next volumes we will finally know the mysterious Andrer?
Ah, the mysterious Andrer! Unfortunately, the beautiful Protégé of the Goddess of the Night, will remain in the shadows until the third chapter of the series.
5) All writers are fond of their characters, but how is your relationship with yours? Both with Morwen and Galadir, and with the others? Is there a character you're most fond of?
I am eternally devoted to Morwen and slave of Galadir! My relationship with this couple is visceral: what they want, I write. I think that Morwen and Galadir are not my characters and I like to think they chose me to tell their painful and intense passion. The others are not less importance, the contrary: without them nothing would have happened to all that will happen. Obviously I'm very possessive of Morwen, but while editing I realized to be so much more possessive of Prince Galadir. In short, if I write that he smiles ... I smile too.
6) If you were to describe The awakening of the Fire to who had not read yet, how would you describe it?
A fantasy out of the ordinary, where evil reigns and where the protagonist is not the usual pure-hearted and fearless heroine, but an evil creature and terribly seductive, tempting as the dark and fiery passion that she transmits to everyone who look at her. A fantasy where war isn't in the middle of the narrative, but the love story between the Heir to the throne of the Underworld and Prince Galadir.
7) In the next books in the series will we know other characters? Can you tell us something?
You will have the opportunity to meet others Protégés who chase Morwen. The awakening of the Fire ended with the victory of Deshre and I can tell that the beautiful Galadir will not only have to resist to the sadistic and insane Goddess of Death, but also curbing the desire that he feels for the body that she owns. It will be very interesting to read the relationship love / hate between Galadir and Deshre, which in turn will touch a guy who seems to have an irresistible charm for all the Goddesses.
8) How long did it take you to design and write your Queen of the Underworld series?
At first I wrote as a hobby, and I finished the first and the second novel in a year. Then I engaged seriously and in a few more months the series had ended.
9) If you had to choose three novels to which you are more fond of?
Three novels are few! I choose with my eyes closed all the books by Keri Arthur, Lover Avenged by JR Ward and The Darkest Surrender by Gena Showalter. But there are many others ...
10) Do you have a particular time of day to write?
I write from 02.00pm until 06.00pm, simply because my netbook has a range of four hours. Then reading until dinner!
11) Given the great success and spread of this particular genre, have you ever thought or planned of writing a urban fantasy book or paranormal romance?
The series sequel to The Queen of the Underworld is an urban fantasy and I've already finished writing two paranormal romance, so I'd say so! I too have been infected by these two genres.
12) Let's finish with the last question. What are your future plans?
As I mentioned, in the drawer I have the series sequel to The Queen of the Underworld, two paranormal romance and a spin-off of the three years that Morwen spent in the Reign of Winged Horses. In work in progress, there is a crossover from the point of view of one of the main characters of the series sequel, and I plan two other paranormal series.

Review on Leggere Fantastico
January 12, 2012
"The Awakening of the Fire is the first of four books that constitute the The Queen of the Underworld Series of the debutante Chiara Cilli. Being the first book, we see an introduction to the world of the Maiden of Flames, named Morwen, and to the start of her mission to recover the precious Crystals. There are many questions in the book and they go on, and while the story take shape others will sprout. Some of these will have answers, others will have to wait for the continuation of the series. But the mystery of some characters, such as Maithon and the young Andrer, will continue to whet during reading. The main character is Morwen, the aspiring Goddess, Queen of the Underworld. Beautiful and brutal, Morwen embodies several conflicting aspects of character. She can be cruel and cynical, but with the arrival of Galadir she softens buying humor and smile. The barbaric actions in which the protagonist will be involved there will be still, and will be felt, but obviously the belonging to the Underworld affects her way to be. So I met a different character than we are used usually. Often we read about good and naive female protagonists. Morwen is quite different and I was intrigued and pleasantly surprised. The attraction and relationship with Prince Galadir was born early enough, and it's not honeyed, which makes it my eyes rather mature. Of course, they forced to live during the trip and this takes them to approach quickly and steals the scene to the mission. When they divide, the mission becomes even more interesting and fantasy elements in the novel are more evident. The mystery deepens and the search of the Crystals will be even more eventful and enjoyable. The fantastic creatures will be present, original like the Nazre, but it is the very nature of Morwen that struck me and surprised.
I won't reveal what she eats for not to spoil the surprise, but going back to what I mentioned before, she is the main character who is different from the stereotype that we used reading. I also loved Hurrichein, the Black Winged Horse, but not a simple horse.
I must say that in the book there are so many mysteries and sudden revelations that will grow and enrich the reader's curiosity. The style is fluid and fluent and omniscient narration is clear and understandable as well as perfect to tell the story from the perspective of each character making their feelings clear. A pleasant read, not without flaws, but extremely enjoyable and enriched with mysteries to solve.
The first step towards the heart of an all-Italian saga that began with The Queen of the Underworld, a book and interesting adventure suitable for all lovers of fantasy with a newborn story of love and a mission to accomplish."
