Rather Blue

Haven’t started drawing backgrounds yet. I still have so much to learn!

Hope you enjoy it anyway.

Happy Sunday!

Cartoon - Rather Blue

Actually, from what I’ve read online about auras, a blue aura means someone is intuitive and loves helping people. It also means that the person remains calm during a crisis. If you’ve read any of the books in the Jean and Rosie series, you know this really describes Rosie rather than Jean. Jean tends to be self-centered and is NEVER calm!

Benefits of Music

I had another cartoon planned for today, but with the recent loss of several great musicians (Prince being the latest), I decided it was important to instead share the joys and health benefits of music. Music has helped me lose 20 lbs. in the past 8 months, has gotten me through some tough times, and has always made me smile. (Of course, a good love song can also make me cry.) Listening to music should be a daily requirement for all!

Sunday Comic

Here’s a Sunday comic for you. My cartoon now has a name to go along with its theme. May  use some coloring in the future, but until then, I hope you enjoy following my progress as I learn to be a cartoonist. Wishing you all a wonderful day!

Gotta Start Somewhere!

Here’s my first one-panel cartoon. Pretty simple right now–I still have so much to learn. I thought I’d be brave and share it anyway. Maybe I should add a few more wrinkles and lines over the mouth? Make the eyes sag a little? Any suggestions appreciated!

Anyone else feel this way when they look in the mirror?

Middle-Aged Moment

who are you cartoon

Of course, this “cartoon” can be taken in two different ways. Is she just shocked by the image she sees in the mirror, OR, with the wisdom that comes as we age (if we’re lucky), is she finally beginning to get a glimpse of who she really is? Hmmm, something to think about!

I Welcome It

My best novel writing happens when I forget about the writing part. I don’t realize my hands are keyboarding anymore. My outline goes out the window and my characters do unexpected things. I have no concept of time—it becomes nonexistent. It’s an awesome feeling when this occurs, although it’s not something I can plan out. It just happens during the process when, without effort, I get lost in the story that’s being created.

The same is true with living. The most awesome experiences occur when I give up trying to figure everything out. When, in the process of moving forward, I forget about my own concocted master plan, and simply…LIVE, welcoming whatever may come next.

Darkness

envelopes me

like a blast of cool air

on a hot, stifling day.

I welcome it.

Blinded—

Unable to determine

what lies beyond.

Relaxed in knowing

it is unnecessary.

Tomorrow

takes care of itself.

Doesn’t need me

to set its agenda.

I welcome it.

Got Snow?

Okay, I couldn’t resist. I’ve been going through old photographs lately and I came upon this one. Since we don’t have much snow here in New Hampshire right now, I thought it was perfect to share. It’s a picture of my Memere (grandmother). Family members have seen this before because I made Christmas cards using this photo several years ago. However, now it’s time to share this wonderful lady with the world. She’s no longer with us physically, but in our hearts she’ll always be.
