How to get off cheaper

If you like my stories and you want to read all (thank you!) or at least a few of them, there are deals to be done. These are not summer deals or special deals, but stories permanently packed together to give you better value for money. I also want to clearly point out which of my titles do not contain new stories, as my aim for my readers is always full satisfaction and I wouldn’t want any of you to feel frustrated after buying one of my books!

The product pages for my books also always clearly state which stories are contained in that specific title, but I understand that in a frenzied status this can be easily missed. ;-)

Hump Day Hook: Wetter

Wetter

This week’s Hump Day Hook is from my permanently FREE short story Wetter. I’m working hard on a brand new novelette at the moment. I hope to finish the first draft this week and have it ready for publication by mid August. Meanwhile, if you need a quick fix of f/f erotica, I would suggest you visit A Hotter State. ;-)

The shower cubicles closed with glass shields from both sides and Toni left hers ajar, inspiring Rachel to do the same. She set the tab to cold and the water was a shock to her system. Her nipples jumped to attention and blood pulsed through her veins. It was nothing compared to the effect catching glimpses of a showering Toni had on her. A sizzling fire burned in Rachel’s belly. It was now or never. This kind of opportunity wouldn’t come knocking again anytime soon. Maybe the fuss Toni had made over her was a pure act of kindness or plain professional concern, but Rachel believed it left a lot of room for alternative interpretations. Either way, she had the dizzy card to play again.

She gaped at Toni through the crack in the shower doors, at the white foam sliding down her skin and caressing her taut muscles. Rachel had been vaguely aware of it before, but there was no more denying it now, something was throbbing between her legs and she had twenty minutes to do something about it. She wasn’t planning on doing it herself.

Hot Summer Romance Giveaway Hop

Hot Summer Romance Giveaway HopIt’s the Hot Summer Romance Giveaway Hop and it’s going to be a sentimental one. Be warned. ;-) The topic is romance so it’s only logical that I dedicate this blog post to my wife (who is not very romantically inclined but will secretly love what I have to say.)

The anniversary of the very first time we met falls smack in the middle of this hop. On the 20th of July thirteen years ago, I was fresh out of college, I had terrible red-dyed hair, I was still so young and foolish even though I’d had my heart broken badly a few times already, and there she was. This cute girl with gorgeous curly hair, a shy smile and baggy jeans (those were fashionable back then.)

It took me all of five minutes to fall for her. She made me wait a few months, but somehow I knew she wasn’t going anywhere. Thirteen years down the line, we’ve moved to the other side of the world together, and if it hadn’t been for her, Harper Bliss would not exist. Because she gave me what I’d always yearned for while slogging away at my day job, the most precious gift anyone could receive: time to explore what I really wanted to do. Obviously she had no way of knowing I’d end up writing and publishing erotica, but hey, let’s just say there are worse jobs a spouse could have (although it doesn’t make for the best dinner conversation at the in-laws.)

Together we founded Ladylit and, very recently, launched A Hotter State. We always joke that’s she’s the brain behind it all and I’m the tits, but, all jokes aside, not a story leaves my mailbox until my wife has read it multiple times. But that is nothing compared to the hours she spends listening to my crazy ideas, to my dreams that often know no bounds. She’s always encouraging, always positive and still as cute as ever (although the curls and the baggy jeans have gone.)

Was that romantic enough for you? ;-) Let’s get on with the prizes then!

Here are the rules:

- There are two grand prizes: #1 is a Kindle Fire. #2 is a $50 Amazon.com gift certificate. Grand prize winners will be selected from post comments via random number generation.

- I’m giving away a copy (e-book, any format) of Endless Summer and High Rise (The Complete Collection) to two lucky commenters (picked at random). To enter leave a comment below (include your e-mail address so I can contact you if you’ve won!)

- Visit the links below to hop to as many blogs as you want (and comment often to increase your chances of winning the grand prizes.)

- The hop ends on July 21st (11:59 pm EST), so you have four days to enter the giveaway.

Happy hopping and good luck!

Hump Day Hook: The Client

The Client by Sadie Spiller

Oops. Has it been one whole week since the last Hump Day Hook already? Well, I’ve been a busy girl. We’ve just launched Ladylit‘s brand new imprint A Hotter State, and I grew myself a new alter ego along the way. ;-)

Meet Sadie Spiller, another me writing more than just lesbian erotica. However, The Client, Sadie’s first story for A Hotter State, is F/F erotica, which is why it’s allowed on my blog! ;-)

Here’s a snippet from The Client for this week’s Hump Day Hook.

“This week’s session is on the house,” I corrected myself. “And I’ll throw in a free drink as well.” I rose from my chair and headed for the liquor cabinet, hoping she didn’t have anywhere to be.

“Really?” Her voice was behind me. “Is that ethical?”

Ethical. The last word I wanted to hear. Before turning to face her, I grabbed two glasses and a bottle of scotch.

“I highly doubt it.” I shot her a wide smile—the one I use for seducing. With every second that passed, I felt boundaries crumbling. Up until now, I’d always managed to keep myself in check, to ignore the throbbing of my clit when her voice grew low with desperation. I crossed back to where she was sitting and set the glasses down on the small table between our chairs, pouring a generous amount of liquor in both.

Silence filled the room. My office was too high up for traffic noise to filter in. My assistant had gone home at seven. It was just Claire and I, and a bottle of booze. And the lust crawling up my spine, clinging to my skin. Finding a way out.

“But I’m only human,” I continued. “I suffer from the same imperfections as anyone else.” I took a large swig of whiskey and relished how it burned my throat, like punishment.

Hump Day Hook: Fool for Love

Fool for Love To celebrate that Fool for Love (High Rise Novella One) is free forever, this week’s Hump Day Hook is a snippet from Alex and Maddie’s story. If you like the hook, you might as well download Fool for Love for FREE! Enjoy! ;-)

Alex took another gulp from her wine and braved Maddie’s stare. “Have you always wanted to be a banker?” This was not what she wanted to say. She really wanted to ask Maddie if she could kiss her—as if the question needed asking. Instead, she’d opted for caution.

Maddie shot her the most disarming smile ever, a smile so generous and warm, Alex had to suppress the urge to snuggle up to her and luxuriate in an embrace of those luscious arms. “Of course not. Who does?” Maddie put her hands on Alex’s knee, zapping sparks of electricity through the flesh beneath. “I wanted to be a vet, just like any other girl with lesbian tendencies in the Melbourne suburbs. When I was fourteen, I wanted to be a flying doctor for a while, but only because I had a crush on nurse Kate in the TV show.”

Alex allowed herself a silly chuckle. “You must think I’m terribly uptight.”

Maddie shook her head while digging her nails into Alex’s jeans. “The only thing I think is that you’ve been hurt. Anyway, you must think I’m quite the floozy.”

“Floozy?” Alex suppressed a fit of giggles. “Yeah, that about sums it up. A banker floozy with a seriously deranged moral compass.”

“I’ll take that as a compliment.” Alex adored Maddie’s self-deprecating sense of humour. “Now.” Maddie leaned a little closer and put her wine glass on the table. “This floozy would really like to kiss those uptight lips of yours.” Maddie took Alex’s glass from her hand and put it away. “No tongue, I promise.”

“That’s about the most romantic proposal I’ve ever had.”

“I thought so.” Maddie slanted her head sideways as she inched closer. Alex smelled wine and that expensive banker perfume she remembered—often and usually when alone in bed—from the evening on Isabella’s roof top. Maddie’s lips tasted salty and promising. She brought her hand to Alex’s neck and softly dug her fingertips into her muscles while parting her lips. Slowly, she trailed her tongue over Alex’s lips. Alex immediately reciprocated by opening her mouth and allowing Maddie’s tongue to slip in.

Alex’s blood hammered in her veins as Maddie sank her teeth into her bottom lip before sucking it into her mouth. Alex grabbed Maddie’s head and pulled her closer. She ran her fingers through Maddie’s hair to keep them from exploring anywhere else—somewhere with a point of no return.

When Maddie eased her head back, a big smile etched around the corners of her mouth, Alex yanked it back towards her immediately. Maddie brought her lips close to Alex’s ear.

“Don’t you want me to stop?” She finished her question with a peck on Alex’s ear lobe, soft, but enough to set Alex’s flesh on fire again.

“God no,” Alex moaned. Maddie’s lips travelled along her neck, tracing a moist path of kisses on the way to her clavicle. “Kissing is perfectly acceptable on the first date.”

Special Guest: Vanessa de Sade

Anything She WantsI’m very happy to welcome the talented Vanessa de Sade to my blog today. Vanessa’s naughty story ‘The Dress’ appears in my lesbian erotica anthology Anything She Wants and she has a thing or two to say about the following subject…

Why do straight women write and read lesbian erotica?

It’s a question that you won’t ever find on an exam paper for an English literature degree, yet many of us indulge in same-sex fantasies on a regular basis, and it’s not uncommon to extend this daydreaming to our reading material.

So, why do it?

Well, I can’t speak for all of womankind, but I like women. And, yes, I do mean in the biblical sense. Of course, I don’t indulge this particular pleasure any more because I’m in a monogamous relationship that involves progeny, but all my early love affairs were with other girls, and, at college, I have to confess to being a bit of a lesbian slut.

It wasn’t that I wasn’t attracted to boys. Far from it. Their bodies had always fascinated me, and I was as eager to come to grips with some cock as the next girl. It was just what was attached to them that was the problem. As a teenager and well into my twenties, I thought men were deplorable. They were boorish, insensitive, bullying and, worst of all, untrustworthy. There was never any guarantee that, if you did get down and dirty with one, that intimate details about you wouldn’t be spread all over the locker-room the very next morning. Plus, from what my friends confided, they weren’t all that skilled at operating our equipment and being left high and dry with a sticky hand was, I was assured, par for the course.

Girls, on the other hand, were trusted confidants. They were your best friends as well as your lovers and they kept your secrets to the grave. Plus they came with big kissable breasts and their bodies were warm and soft and they didn’t ever hurry you or try to force you. And, of course, when they finally did reach third base, well, they certainly knew what to do with what they found down there.

My first lover had been my friend for years, but when we went off on a caravan holiday together in our teens and found ourselves alone by a lakeside things soon got steamy. There was skinny dipping. Then there were kisses. And then there were ten passionate days of absolute bliss. And after that I never looked back, and I have to admit that I was fairly convinced that I was a lesbian until I finally met a sweet sensitive man who was also phenomenally attractive that I overcame my mistrust and learned to appreciate male anatomy close up. *Snigger!*

So now I confine all my hot Sapphic urges to my writing. All my characters come to me from chance encounters; and when I brush past some exquisite creature in a crowded room and feel the silk of her blouse caress my hand or inhale her perfume and feel that old familiar warm feeling down below I know that a new story’s brewing, and I set about inventing a whole history for her and then think up ways for getting her naked and into my character’s bed.

Cassandra, the predatory dressmaker from my story The Dress that features in Anything She Wants, was based on a real tailor who snaked her tape around me and let her hands linger deliciously as she took my measurements; and in my taboo-erotica story, The Halloween Ball, which was supposed to be about heterosexual twincest, the main bedroom scenes were hijacked by the love affair between Natasha, the haughty Goth heroine, and an unnamed Rubenesque lovely who, without so much as a by-your-leave from me, took over the story and became its narrator.

I had been minding my own business and looking through fabric off-cuts in a shop when this girl brushed against me. She was large and fragrant, dressed in a flowing cheesecloth dress and reeking of patchouli, her breasts two snow white orbs in her low cut top, and I was visualising her naked before I even left the store. It was no small wonder that she had invaded what became one of my favourite stories before I’d even got home.

I so love my work.

So, that, my darlings, is me, Hasbian and writer of girl-on-girl fantasies for your pleasure. I’ve recently even tried my hand at a YA novelette, The House at Ghost Elm Sands, which has been a real challenge as I’ve tried to tell a story of obsession between thirteen-year-olds without any actual sex or profanity, but, even if I do say so myself, I did write one of the sexiest lesbian kisses ever put on the page.

Happy reading…

Vanessa de Sade is a forty-something full-figure gal who likes to write hot stories about real women exploring the darker regions of their own sexuality. She is the author of ‘Melancholia Falls’ and other popular novellas and stories; plus the collections ‘Rubyfruit Jungle’ and ‘Nude Shots’. A collection of her erotic fairy tales will be published later this year and she is currently trying her hand at a YA novel.

The Equal Rights Blog Hop

The Equal Rights Blog HopSo, let’s kick my jetlagged (aka lazy) post-holiday butt into gear with a good old blog hop and giveaway! It’s quite fitting that the theme for this hop is Equal Rights as I just returned from a trip San Francisco. We arrived on the day that the Supreme Court ruled against DOMA and there was quite a party going on in te Castro.

I’ve been quite lucky in the sense that, despite being a lesbian, I never really had to fight for anything. I never considered myself any different from anyone else, because (as cheesy as it may sound), even when I first realised I liked girls as a teenager, I always did know that ‘love is love’. Of course, I didn’t grow up in Russia, Africa or the Middle East. I was born in liberal Belgium, where we’ve had the right to marry since 2003 (that’s 10 years!) and where I joined an LGBT youth group at the tender age of 16. And what a difference it made to just be able to be myself among peers.

When I was 18 I had the opportunity to attend a gay camp, where LGBT youngsters from all over the country united for a few days of being completely un-judged and totally accepted. Because, as easy as it is for me to say now, so many years later, that I never experienced any problems with the fact that I’m a lesbian, I fully realise I owe this for a large part to the LGBT community I was so lucky to become a part of at such a young age. The generation before me didn’t have that luxury–many teenagers across the globe don’t have it today. And they’re the ones who fought for the rights I have today.

But, thanks to the LGBT community and its relentless fighting spirit, the world is changing. Even in Hong Kong, where I currently live (and where my marriage to my wife is not recognised), the tide seems to be changing somewhat. Last May, after a long battle in court, a transgender woman won the right to marry her boyfriend. I have nothing but gratitude for the LGBT community and what they have achieved even in my short (well, not that short) lifetime.

So, in honour of W, Edie Windsor, and everyone who has ever marched for equal rights, let’s have a giveaway! ;-)

Here are the rules:

- There’s a Grand Prize Giveaway hosted by Queer Town Abbey. You can win Amazon gift cards, free e-books and more (all info here >>) To enter you’ll need the answer to the following question: Which country was I born in?

- I’m giving away a copy (e-book, any format) of Anything She Wants, Girls Only (Volume Two) and High Rise (The Complete Collection) to three lucky commenters (picked at random). To enter leave a comment below (include your e-mail address so I can contact you if you’ve won!)

- Visit The Equal Rights Blog Hop page and hop to as many blogs as you want.

- The hop ends on July 7th (11:59 pm EST), so you have four days to enter the giveaway.

Happy hopping and good luck!

Guess who’s back…

To slowly ease myself back into reality after a three week break, here are some pictures of what was (easily) the most amazing holiday of my life. Normal service will resume shortly.

US1First stop: Portland. The wine was delicious and the views astonishing.

US2Although PDX Pride was a little underwhelming (except for the dykes on bikes, of course).

US12Next, we took the train to LA. A 30 hour long journey with views like this. Bliss.

US3We stayed in West Hollywood, which is very gay (but I couldn’t find Bette Porter or the CAC anywhere!)

US4This was the golden pimp mobile in which we drove from LA to San Francisco.

US5My wife has a soft spot for Death Cab For Cutie so we had to cross the Bixbie Canyon Bridge multiple times (while playing the song).

US6We witnessed a bunch of elephant seals snoring (very loudly) on the beach.

US7And then we fell in love with Big Sur.

US10We stayed in a cabin in the woods and read lesbian fiction by the fire.

US8And then, just when I thought the trip couldn’t get any better, we arrived in San Francisco.

US9The bridge played hide and seek though.

US11And the pride parade was literally endless (what with all the apps marching along).

US13We drank a lot of those and, as the night progressed and we dared to dream bigger and bigger, we plotted our move to San Francisco. ;-)

Hump Day Hook: Younger Than Yesterday

Younger Than Yesterday I’m going on holiday (swapping humid and rainy Hong Kong for a road trip and a few Pride celebrations on the US West Coast!) and this Hump Day Hook is my last blog post before I go. (Do follow me on Twitter for pictures of Dykes on Bikes and Portland lesbians. ;-0)

This hook is from Younger Than Yesterday, my summery novelette set in Tuscany.

In the afternoon we’re all lounging by the pool. I peer over my sunglasses as Cat swims laps, her strong shoulders gliding in and out of the water. The drops cascading down from them every time she comes up for air stir a funny sensation in my belly. I can’t wait for the moment she exits the pool, her skin all wet and her muscles pumped from exercise. John and Helen are dozing in the shadow of the oak tree and I imagine they aren’t here. I picture Cat pushing herself out of the water while pinning her eyes on me. She walks over to me with long confident strides and the drops of water falling out of her hair stain the book I’m reading. She bends over and places a moist hand on my neck.

“Come here,” she says before pressing her lips against mine. “This has been a long time coming.”

She takes the book from my hands and tosses it to the side. She pulls me down on the sun-bed until I’m flat on my back and straddles me, her wet bikini cooling my thighs. She kisses me again as if it’s the most natural course of action, as if there’s no other conceivable way for us to spend the rest of the afternoon. With wet hands she cups my breasts, stiffening my nipples. My blood races through my veins and I’m ready to surrender.

“Drink?”

“What?” I open my eyes, which I appear to have closed in the midst of my fantasy, and find Cat towering over me, a towel wrapped chastely around her body.

“Oh sorry, did I wake you?”

Q&A: Harper Bliss on Anything She Wants

Anything She WantsToday is the last day you can get Anything She Wants for free! To draw attention to this fact, I’ve decided to interview myself for my Q&A series. Prepare yourself for some multiple personality weirdness. Things could get messy.

1. Sell us your book in one sentence.

Allow me to quote from the blurb: Power play, first time encounters and office rivalry get the characters in these twelve stories so riled up, the only way to go is down and dirty.

2. Favourite line (or paragraph) from Anything She Wants

Gosh, Harper. You’re really putting me on the spot right now. You can’t possibly expect me to pick a favourite? Basically, all lines, paragraphs and stories are my favourite otherwise I wouldn’t have chosen them to be in the anthology.

3. Last book that blew you away?

The Blue Hour by Beatrice Donahue. I know Ladylit published it and I might be prone to some light bias, but we wouldn’t have published it in the first place if it hadn’t completely knocked our socks off. Beatrice Donahue’s way with words is spectacular. I read a lot of lesbian fiction, but I’ve rarely encountered something as beautifully written as this. It’s a gem and a treat and I personally guarantee that you will not be disappointed after reading it. (Note from interviewer: I’ve read it and I wasn’t.)

4. Which celebrity is at number one of your imaginary to-do list?

I’m constantly re-assessing this list. At this moment in time, it’s a tight race between Robin Wright and Gillian Anderson, but I think I’d go for Robin because I think she’d treat me better after.

5. What’s your favourite sexy song?

My Curse by The Afghan Whigs. YouTube it, you’ll understand. I’ve been obsessed with these lyrics since my teens: And slave I only use as a word to describe the special way I feel for you. (Does this betray my age?)

6. What are you most proud of?

Professionally: Becoming Harper Bliss. Founding Ladylit. Putting together this anthology. Working with a bunch of talented authors who I really admire. Personally: Being nice enough to my wife for her to have stuck with me for the past thirteen years.

7. Who’s your favourite TV character?

As I’m currently completely obsessed with The Fall, it has to be DSI Stella Gibson. She is every woman I write about when I write fem dom office stories in which the women wear designer blouses (open at the throat) and tights skirts. Icy, smart, bossy and not bashful about sex. Oh god, what am I going to do when this show ends?

8. Which author’s books are a must-read?

Kristina Lloyd’s. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: when I grow up I want to write like Kristina Lloyd. (I know what you’re going to say, Harper. Pity I’m so old already.) She’s the best. Also, she sure knows how to push boundaries. (Kristina has promised to drop by some time soon to dish the dirt on her most controversial book Asking For Trouble.)

Of course, all the books I feature on here are a must-read. So far, we’ve had Confessions of a Kinky Divorcee by Lana Fox, Girls Who Score by Ily Goyanes, Ice by Lyn Gardner and The Blue Hour by Beatrice Donahue. I also like everything Cheyenne Blue writes.

9. Anything else you want us to know?

I love my job so much, I could cry (sometimes I do.) I honestly never expected the world of erotica to be so nice. I remember the day I announced to my wife I decided to write an erotic story. She told me to go for it and here I am, a year and so many stories later. Basically, I guess what I’m trying to say is: don’t be afraid to dream!

10. What’s next for you?

Write more naughty stuff, of course. I have some ideas for themed anthologies. We’re hoping to launch an even dirtier Ladylit imprint soon, and I want to write a sexy series about a lesbian superhero. But first I’m going on holiday. I’ll be promoting Anything She Wants at Portland and San Francisco Pride! (Do say hello if you see me distributing flyers like a crazy person.)
