Da reunião para UTI/Meeting to ICU

Hoje tivemos uma excelente reunião do App Hey Amigo www.heyamigo.app  para conectar pacientes e voluntários no Centro de São Paulo. Estamos trabalhando na formação da base de voluntários, etapa muito bacana do projeto. Saindo de lá, o Cyber Ninja Seiji e eu fomos juntos até as Clínicas de onde ele foi embora e eu fui para a UTI.

Mercuri progrediu mais um pouco hoje. Pela manhã, ficou em pé e depois sentado na cadeira. Foram detectadas bactérias na urina e no sangue e felizmente soubemos hoje que eram a mesma bactéria. A infecção está sob controle. Continuamos vibrando para que os rins, estômago e intestino voltem ao funcionamento pleno. Muito obrigada pelas orações, pensamentos positivos e pela torcida. Today we had an excellent meeting of our Hey Amigo App www.heyamigo.app to connect patients and volunteers in downtown Sao Paulo. We’re currently working on setting up the body of volunteers, an incredibly fun part of the project. From there Cyber Ninja Seiji and I took an Uber ride to Clinicas Subway Station from where he left home and I headed to ICU.

Mercuri’s progress remains steady. This morning, he stood up and spent some time sitting on a chair. Bacteria had been detected both in his urine and in his blood and fortunately results came out and it’s the same bacteria. Infection is under control. For now, we keep on sending our good vibes for the kidneys, stomach and intestines to become fully functional again. Thank you very much for your prayers, positive vibes and continuous support. Comprei esse adorável “chapéu de vô” de um ambulante na porta do hospital. Estava um baita sol e eu perdi o meu antigo chapéu durante a segunda internação do Mercuri na semana passada. Isso acontece porque coisas básicas como cuidar dos nossos pertences acabam ficando em segundo plano. Quando a gente se vê no papel de cuidadora em tempo integral, o nosso comportamento se reduz a um modo emergencial no qual decisões que literalmente mudam o curso da vida tem que ser tomadas a todo momento. É muito desgastante.

A notícia maravilhosa é que o intensivista, médico da UTI, estava satisfeito com todos os exames do Mercuri. “Ele melhorou muito de ontem para hoje” disse o simpático doutor, palavras que chegam até mim como um carinho profundo na alma. I bought this lovely grandpa hat from a street vendor right in front of the hospital. It was a sweltering afternoon in the city of Sao Paulo and I had just lost my previous hat during Mercuri’s second hospitalization last week. It’s sad to say but basic things like taking care of your personal belongings end up being left aside. When you’re a full time caregiver, your behavior becomes very essential, like you’re constantly on emergency mode, making decisions that are literally life changing the entire time. It can be exhausting.

The amaaaaazing news is that the ICU doctor was very satisfied with all of Mercuri’s lab results. “He’s improved significantly from yesterday” said the friendly doctor, words that filled my heart with warmth and gratitude. Juntos, foi esse o caminho, que o meu marido e eu decidimos percorrer há mais 25 anos atrás. E assim seguimos em frente com amor e fé.

Thank you so much to all who commented, shared, sent me messages from across the globe offering help and prayers of all faiths in response to my post asking for blood donors. It is hospital procedure to ask family and friends of hospitalized patients to call for blood donations. Any donation is welcome, regardless of blood type, since all of them will save precious lives.

Side by side, my husband and I have walked that path for over 25 years. And side by side we stand in love and in faith.
