Sailor Moon Book: An Update
Hey gang, so the latest on the Sailor Moon Book (y’know, we really need to make sure we finalize the title so I have something to call it).
Me, I’m now up to my neck in research, which is to say, reading stuff and seeing it it’s useful and sticking it in the bibliography. The sad part is the information isn’t “spread out” consistently – a few things are best found via wikis first then drilled into. I wish someone would write a book on Sailor Moon’s history with a giant bibliography, and I hav...

The Countdown Begins: The Power Of Creative Paths!
This is it folks, the countdown to my first book on creativity, The Power Of Creative Paths!
The book is going to drop on Saturday the 30th. I’m lining up some reviewers right now (and there’s a chance to get in on it) to help give people an idea of what’s in it from a reader’s viewpoint. Only six more days!
So what’s in this book?
Basically, after years of working with Seventh Sanctum, I’d realized that creativity fit certain paths – ways we get to our “Big Ideas.” Most people had one or two...

Reflections On Becoming A Consultant
So as many of you know, round about last year I decided to give the consulting thing a go – possibly permanent. I’d gotten tired of turnovers, layoffs, transformations, reorgs, politics, etc. I took a 5% pay cut – and a return to 40 hour weeks – and gave it a shot.
The end result is I actually liked it. Now let me note that I’m not giving up being a permanent employee (or my own business if anything works out). My take was that if any contract resulted in an offer and I figure it’d work out s...

Sailor Moon Update: Oh Thank Goddess
Well the big announcement for the Sailor Moon book is we’re sort of done with the initial draft. However, let me qualify done:
We decided to make room for more interviews. So we’ve got more to integrate. We’re editing the heck out of it . . . well, Bonnie is, because . . . I’m doing research for the book. We debated how much is going to be used and the resulting choice was “enough for the book” and “to point people in the right direction”So where is it now?
We’ve got a pretty good sense o...
The Inevitable Bowie Post
I wanted to say something about David Bowie. I really did. Let’s face it, it’s hard to shut me up.
But basically, his work and its impact stands on its own. So go and watch one of his films you haven’t seen or listen to one of his songs you haven’t heard. Go find what he did.
Then go do something.

Make A Diference In A Life
After watching people slog through the Great Recession and the not-quite recovery, and being a bit concerned about 2017, I’d like to share some important advice about helping people survive and prosper. Or at least survive.
It’s something I can some up simply: Make A Difference In A Life
Right now you’ve got people you know that just need a bit of help. Right now you’ve got people who need a break just to make it. Some people you know just need one hand up to get their life not only in order,...

Star Wars – The Force Awakens: Fear Of Another Blackness And Another Femininity
Few of us who are geeks on the internet (perhaps I repeat myself) are unaware that some people are offended at “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” – over racial and gender issues. It’s not hard to find people complaining that:
There is a Stormtrooper who is black. There is a heroine who is female.I’d go into why peopleseem to be disturbed by these completely unremarkable things, but it’s a bit hard to describe it beyond “bigotry and weird conspiracy theories” that seem to be a cover for assorte...

Looking For Reviewers!
Hey gang! I want to let you knowI’m looking for reviewers for my first book on Creativity, “The Power Of Creative Paths.” It comes out late January/early February, but I want to line up people who want to review it (don’t worry, it’s an eBook and it’s a reasonable size) and review it honestly. If you’re interested contact me right away!

Technology, Humanity: Values And What We Value
OK let me wade into the Paul Graham clusterbumble. For those who haven’t kept up, Graham made a rather bizarre post about economic inequalitythat pretty much got him roasted like nuts by various people. Though I think he sort of meant well, it was a bizarre case of self-aggrandizement, ignoring actual inequality issues, and defending some wealth inequality in a way that amplified the other problems of his “position”. It was, to be charitable, a piece by someone wanting to sound smart and info...
