666 words from The Tether Saga Nevermore Righteous
Something dark this way comes…
The children of men multiplied and spread across the land singing the praises of their Lord and in turn the land prospered in his light. The Watchers who protected man from evil grew jealous of the attention man was getting from their Lord, some wished to walk among them to bathe in his praise, to take wives, for the children of men had many beautiful daughters and the Watchers did lust after them. The Watchers rallied around a leader and he said onto his followers, "Come let us take wives from among the children of men and beget us children, for do we not deserve a price for the service we do give?"
This caused discord amongst the Watchers for they were commanded to never lay with the children of men, to not think, speak or commit the deed for it was the greatest of sin, and their leader embolden spoke again, "I fear if ye will not agree, then I alone will pay the penalty of sin for speaking all ye thoughts so freely."
As one the score of Watchers answered him and said, "Let us all swear an oath and bind ourselves by our imperfection to not abandon this thought, but to do this thing."
The Watchers took the oath and bound themselves to it; vowing to never use their powers again lest they be discovered and their sin revealed. They descending to earth placing their feet onto the summit of Mount Hermon and took wives amongst the children of men. For years they lived among the children of men hiding their powers; but without them to guard against evil Earth became bereft of the Lord's light and without his guidance the children of men became corrupt Even the Watchers began to yearn for power and other vices. It was not long before the Watchers fell on each other, first it started with simple treachery with several of the Watchers falling to their brother's blades and the slaughtering their families. With brotherhood now shattered the Watchers scattered to the corners of the Earth and formed 13 great tribes from the children of men, teaching them much forbidden knowledge, made war on each other and the land was blasted, paradise became a wasteland in a cycle of violence that would last for an age.
Spying this turmoil, Michael appealed to the Lord to judge humanity and the fallen Watchers for they had turned from his light. The Lord did give his judgment and the Hosts led by Michael, Uriel, Raphael and a reluctant Gabriel did do battle with the Watchers and their tribes. This battle was so fierce that the land burned under foot, and many died on both sides until only seven of Watchers remained held up in a fastness built upon a high mountain. In desperation they appealed to Lucifier the First Fallen, that he rise up and help them overthrow the Hosts, but Lucifier saw the folly of this and was content in his realm collecting corrupt animus and wished no quarrel with the Lord. Knowing they were now doomed their leader gathered the eldest son of each of the Watchers and banished them across time to preserve their legacy. This deed did Gabriel spy though he did not tell his brothers or his Lord what he saw.
Then the Watchers fought there last battle, one that saw mountains fall and the Earth heave as great powers were unleashed. One by one though the Watchers fell until only their leader remained; for his sin for first voicing the deed he was not killed like his brothers, he was judged unworthy of the Lord's mercy. Instead he was bound and thrown in the great pit of Tarturus in a new land far across the greatest sea and then buried under rough jagged rock so he would see only darkness. Seeing the land so corrupt the Lord called forth a great flood to wipe it clean and saved only a few righteous to rebuild.

500 Word Flash Fiction – The Mech and the Captain
The first time I met the Captain I was a snotty nosed junior officer just out of the Academy and assigned as an Observer by HQ to her recon unit. I was told to shut up, do as I was told, stay out of the way and maybe, just maybe I might get back to HQ with my little war story.
That night the Captain was leading a Recon patrol into Century to probe the Alliance forces and judge there strength for upcoming offensive the Coalition wanted to launch. A simply observe and report mission, a walk in the park. So there I was all gummed up with an oversized helmet and a rifle in my hand which I wasn't all that sure how to use, trying to keep up as the Captain led us deep into Alliance held lines. For the most part all I remember is being dragged along by my armor, and pushed behind cover every time we stopped.
Before long we were holed up in a penthouse as we observed the Alliance forward units, by observing it seemed to mean most of the patrol slumped around the suite walls and me sitting at the window with IR goggles on checking off movements as I saw them. About two hours into this we were getting ready to bug out, when the goggles overloaded with a huge IR spike and the looming shape of an Alliance Mech rounded the corner. Big ugly brute, a squat cockpit head and sloped shoulders that led to two huge cannon shaped arms. I had never seen these things up close before and it was thought the Alliance only had a handful of them. With one of these in our sector it would mean our offensive would be dead before it started. I was sweating bullets, gripping my rifle with clammy hands as the Mech drew level with our building. I looked up just in time to see the Captain dive out of the window, for some reason I cried out which if looks could of killed I would dropped dead from the stares from the rest her unit.
I moved over to the window to where the Captain had exited and caught sight of her on the shoulder of the Alliance machine making her way to the cockpit head before disappearing out of sight. Moments later the Mech shuddered and just stopped, slumping slightly against the building opposite. The Captain reappeared and I caught a flash of a knife blade before she skipped down broken Mech disappearing into the gloom. The Sergeant next to me grinned, "Okay son, shows over, time for us to move out."
Stunned I followed the patrol out of Century and back to our own lines, throughout the rest of the battle for Century and the remains of the war that followed the Captain would be credited as the only infantry kill of a Mech and me… Well, this was only the beginning of my association with her.

The Avengers Movie New Promo Art… Avengers Assemble!
New promo art is leaking around the internet for The Avengers movie, it is your standard group shot with everyone hitting a heroic pose. Nothing new is given away, Ironman is sporting his circle arc reactor instead of the triangle, but that might just be a bad brief given to the artist and they bulked out Cap.

From the DC Nation Show Lauren Faust's Supergirl
Caught this online today its Lauren Faust's Supergirl or Kara Zor-El from one of the shorts to be featured on DC Nation on Cartoon Network which will be called Super Best Friends Forever. Lauren is the story artist and writer that brought us The Powerpuff Girls and Fosters Home For Imaginary Friends, which means we should see some sharp adult based humor. Me, I'm kind of hoping it will be a little like the Worlds Finest Batgirl/Supergirl team up by Mike Maihack.

Immigration Update – USCIS Texas Officially Received my Paperwork
Right on schedule today I got my I-797 Notice of Action from USCIS Texas informing me that my I485 and I765 have been received. This is very important because it means the clock really starts running, I have my tracking numbers to keep an eye on the process and if it all goes to plan in about two weeks I will have my biometrics appointment.
It certainly offsets what was a fairly rough morning start, I wont go into too many details but I attend a meeting today concerning if I could return to my old work position. It didn't go very well, and proves once again that the most innocent of actions taken out of context can damn you… Certainly teach this Web Designer to make use of the Internet to do his job… Ugh! Anyhow, as grim as this news is it is offset by the Immigration progress and the joyful blessing that I have my children this Presidents weekend, and in that end that is all that really matters. Onwards, eh?

500 Word Flash Fiction – My First Charge
I still remember that charge like it was yesterday. We were formed up in ranks looking all bright and shiny, and there was me in my new half harness armor standing in the front line all ashen faced trying my best to look brave. This was going to be my first pitch battle; countless hours of drill and pushing straw dolls around had not prepared me for the roar and clamor around me.
I could barely hear our Lancepesade above the cannons and it wasn't until I was grabbed by the shoulder that I realized we were moving with bills at port, and learned that we had been given the honor of leading the charge, of being the first to engage the enemy line and to take the King's Guard. The Lancepesade barked and we moved from port to ready, we quickened now from a walk to a jog. I could see our Lord Zouche amongst us now, sword aloft with the colors flowing before I lost him in the cannon smoke.
Ahead now I could see the King's Guard all dressed in their best with shields ready and locked to receive us. The gentle patter of arrows started to fall upon us and I was thankful for the Sallet that I was wearing and dropped the visor. The Lancepesade barked once more, this time it was charge. I roared my battle cry and picked my target an ocher yellow shield paired with black.
The moment before impact everything slowed down, I remember the wide blue eyes of the King's Guard I was about to hit, the roar of my fellows on my back and the stamping of our feet. Every part of me was wired and smash, we hit… Time became a blur, my opponent skewered fell away and our momentum pushed us through to their third rank. It was now down to moments I stabbed, I hacked, I kicked, punched and bullied, wielding my bill with as much speed as I could muster aware that any time now I would be felled; that our flank was going to be rolled. As soon as it begun it was over, the King's Guard routed and with my blood up I gave chase… We had them and I had not sated my battle lust. Then my Lancepesade's voice was in my ear, "It's over Lad, now let's get out of here before their mates give us a good kicking."
As we melted away from the events of that first charge we soon became scattered against the larger army arrayed against us. Weary at battle end we left the field in triumph cheered on by all that saw our charge, including the King's Guard themselves. It was not until later that I learned I knocked the Reenactor with the yellow shield out, and it was my berserk fury, not the charge of our household that routed them, and that I came close to striking the King himself… Thus my Legend was born…
