Opinion – Yes… I have faith but in a different way than you might have…

Sky BannerI ran into this today on a Facebook post, I was accused because I do not go to church that I do not believe in God, that I will burn in hell for my views. All this came from my view that the USA is not a Christian nation, but a nation of many faiths, ideals and outlooks. I found this entire conversation about my faith offensive and find out why after the jump.

You see and this answer wont surprise some of you, but may also surprise a few of you, I do believe in God… I just worship in a different way and just because I choose to not go to Church does not make your faith greater than mine. I’ve also always made it known I am highly skeptical of organized religion in any form as history has shown it has caused more harm than good. And I feel in many ways I believe mine interruption is purer.

I pray to God every day by practicing my skills that I have been given by improving them I am worshiping God, and showing that I value those skills by getting better at what I do. The knock on effect means at some point I may get so good that I will be able to create a miracle through my abilities.

If my statement confuses you then consider this; a Surgeon may have been born with the gift of surgery, but only through practice will he get better and only then will he create a miracle on his table by saving a life.

That is what I believe, that is what I try to do everyday, I am no better than you, no worse than you, I don’t question your beliefs or belittle them. When I pass on and face whatever is to come when we leave this reality I will face it knowing I did what I could with what I had, and did all I could to improve my lot and those around me. Can anything more be asked of me? Is that all we can ask of each other?

Be excellent to each other now.

Remember 9-11 take a moment to realize the freedoms we have

911 RememberanceEver year I write a note on this day, for it has an odd double meaning for me. While I tried to find my words I lost a lot of time trying to find a fancy graphic to go with them, then I realized the words or the graphic do not really matter on this day of days. Twelve years ago an act of terrorism first shook this nation and then united it. Now twelves years later I feel we as a nation are even further apart than ever, with rampant hate, denial of rights that are being cheered and a general feeling that we have all lost our way. This is how I feel, and although I do not have the answers all I can ask is you remember 9-11, celebrate our freedoms, do not give them away lightly and try to be most excellent to each other…

Instructional – Stickman’s Tips for having a table at a comic book convention… A must read!!!

Stickman Con TipsStumbled across this on the internets today; an instructional comic by Mark Monlux featuring Stickman with practical advice on how to run a table at a comic book convention. It is pretty good stuff and I kinda wish I read all of this before hitting up Baltimore Comic Con, got to stop treating the conventions trips as a hobby and fun, right? Click here or the image to read the rest of this informative and fun little comic; that was created for the 2011 24hr Comic Challenge.

The @BaltimoreComics #BCC2013 photo roundup and Tristan the Teddy Bear meets the #Cosplayers

Start the show with a little Captain Morgan Confidence

Start the show with a little Captain Morgan Confidence

Phew… It is done… All the prep… All the anticipation… Came down to two days at Baltimore Comic con 2013, it was fun, it was hectic, I would have liked to see more of the convention, but I was pinned to my little corner of the hall again. It was a good couple of days, all the advance work played off and I am happy with the mild-success, and recognition we got at this show.

I sit here hours after the convention has closed, my left knee has stiffened, I’ve got a lung full of con-crud and my lower back has decided to not work anymore. It is time for the roundup in pictures as each one speaks a thousand words… So here we go…

Thank you to everyone who visited us in our little corner of the convention at Artist Alley Booth A45 and for the compliments for the work we are doing with Tristan and the Teddy Bear Tales.  I have a lot of plans for that little Teddy Bear and I hope to be able to make most of them happen. Also the jewelry of Charmingly Geeky proved to very popular and I am sure that success will encourage Jean to expand the range. Lots of work ahead and see you all next year :)
