what happened to the layout of your website? It used to fill the width of the screen but now it scrolls about 1/3rd wide with another 1/4 for that's mostly static. Eugh!

I played around with the layout but now I van't figure out how to change it back since Tumblr seems to have changed the options. It looks fine on my computer but I will look into it. Sorry!

Card Subject to Change

Last night I watched the documentary Card Subject to Change and despite some flaws it was pretty interesting. The movie looks at the world of independent wrestling, basically wrestling's minor leagues, filled with stars in decline and up-and-comers. If you saw the excellent movie The Wrestler you pretty much get the idea (there's even a bit featuring the insane guy from The Wrestler who staples money to himself!).

Of course, I couldn't help but compare the world of independent wrestling to my own world of independent comics: people doing something they love, even though everyone else kind of thinks it's a joke. There's very little money in it (or at least not enough to justify the commitment it takes), and most of the participants are following an adolescent dream. Poor deluded fools!

It's very tempting to see wrestlers as steroid-addled meatheads but this movie does a pretty good job of humanizing them.

The Ink Panthers Show: Episode 109 - 3rd Annual Halloween SPOOK-tacular!

The Ink Panthers Show: Episode 109 - 3rd Annual Halloween SPOOK-tacular!:

inkpanthers:

Feeding Ground's own Mike Lapinski joins us in The Panther's Crypt for a frightfully frightful episode! We'll discuss the rules of Lycanthropy versus the rules of Draculas. Ghost tours, costumes, and Gentlemen Frankensteins. Twilight and The Amityville Horror. It's a GHOULish good time,…

I know it's a week late but I was out of town on Halloween and we don't have a new episode anyway.

Iraq on $256 Million a Day

Last Friday, President Obama announced that the remaining American troops in Iraq will leave the country by the end of 2011. Here's a quick reminder of the war's price tag.

This is fascinating. It makes you wonder: if we had just gone to Saddam Hussein and offered him $500,000,000,000 to peacefully step down would he? Or, better yet divide the money among the 31,000,000 Iraqis to the tune of about $26,000 for every man, woman and child. Ok, that doesn't sound like alot until you consider the average income was $4,000—and I'm assuming most women make much less.

Attention Artist Friends!

A friend of mine has a screenplay he's looking to develop but he needs the help of an artist to help him realize his vision:

I've got a script that's ready to go and my next step is to raise some initial financing.  I'm putting together a biz proposal and part of it, I'm hoping, could be some sketches of characters/important scenes/tableaux from the script.

Can you recommend an artist who is:
1 - Looking for work and ready to jump on a project ASAP
2 - Can do something stylized, but realism-based, not "overly cartoony."
3 - Willing to work for not a whole heck of a lot of money.

Concerning #3, I'm not looking to screw anybody - but I also don't see this as a major time investment on behalf of the artist.  I see it like this:  read the script (2 hr time investment), discussion of what 3 to 5 drawings should be done, then go to town.

I'm busy working on The New Book but if you're an artist and you think this is something you'd be interested in doing send me your contact info and I'll pass it along. Good luck!
