Near as I can tell: They used the back up hyperdrive to get to Bespin which would have still taken them awhile but it does in fact mean Luke only got a few weeks of training. But Yoda specifically mentions that Luke has not had all of his training when he
Luke's training being incomplete raises another problem: when we rejoin Luke at the beginning of Return of the Jedi he seems to have made huge strides toward being a proper Jedi. He seems calmer, he's using his mind trick to get past guards, etc.
We know he didn't go back to Yoda or talk to Obi-Wan because if he did he presumably would've addressed the issue of Vader being his father and why they lied to him. The only loophole I can see is that The Force runs strong in the Skywalker family thanks to their (ugh) high midichlorian count so maybe once he got the basics he was able to figure out the rest on his own.
Don't even get me started on the gang's sloppy plan to rescue Han!
The Empire Strikes Back question
I was talking with a friend of mine who is also a secret Star Wars nerd and he brought up an interesting question: exactly how much time passes in Empire Strikes Back?
After the escape from Hoth, the Millennium Falcon winds up in Cloud City (after a stop in the asteroid field). There's no definite time markers but it doesn't seem like they're on Bespin for all that long.
The thing is, at the same time, Luke is being trained by Yoda. So either the Falcon gang was on Bespin a lot longer than we thought or Yoda is giving Luke the Learning Annex version of Jedi training, packing a decade's worth of wisdom into a, what? Two week seminar?
Of course, the wild card in all of this is that the Falcon's hyperdrive is broken so for all we know it took them months to get from the asteroid field to Bespin. They don't seem like people who have been stuck playing space chess in a junky space ship for weeks on end when they arrive but it would at least allow more time to pass on the Yoda/Luke end of things.
Any alternate theories?

Wall Street's Repeat Violations, Despite Repeated Promises
Many big Wall Street firms have settled fraud cases brought by the government with a promise to never violate the same law. But an analysis of Securities and Exchange Commission documents by The New York Times found that since 1996, there have been at least 51 repeat violations by those firms. Bank of America and Citigroup have each had six repeat violations, while Merrill Lynch and UBS have each had five.
God, I wish I could break the law with impunity as long as I (falsely) promised to never ever do it again.
Conan O'Brien Can't Stop
[image error]
Last night we watched the documentary Conan O'Brien Can't Stop on the Netflix. It had moments of humor, of course, but it was almost more interesting as a study in addiction. Virtually the entire movie is made up of scenes in which Conan O'Brien performs for people on his cross-country tour, followed by scenes of him complaining about having to perform for people all the time, followed by scenes of him performing, etc.
The thing of it is, Conan is choosing to put himself in these situations. Obviously he has to go onstage for his live show, but he's also constantly going out to meet fans, visiting dignitaries, etc. He's not a prisoner of his fame so much as a prisoner of his desire to be famous (Andy Richter clearly doesn't have that same mania since seems to keep to himself after the shows). His generally unhappy demeanor reminds me of the junkies you see on Intervention, except that instead of meth Conan is addicted to having people like him.
