FRC writer: We need 'proper ammunition' to reshape anti-LGBT culture

Citing the Boy Scouts of America's decision to allow openly gay youth without a court forcing them to do so as well as the New York City St. Patrick's Day Parade's just announced agreement to allow one LGBT group to march in next year's parade, Travis Weber, the Director of the Center for Religious Liberty at the viciously anti-LGBT Family Research Council, writes the following about what his side must do to stop acceptance from taking hold:

It's fitting that Tony Perkins called to mind a boggy marsh...

...in his assessment of the Louisiana marriage ruling:

Because the Reagan-appointed Judge Feldman's opinion, filled with language like "lifestyle choices" and fear claims about children, is is about as clear and easy to navigate as the titular bayou. Perfect punning, T-Dog!

TN pastor unapologetic about making local gay teens hate themselves

Screen Shot 2014-09-03 At 12.51.23 Pm

Repent or die. That is the message a Southern Baptist pastor in the Chattanooga area is sending to young LGBT people in his area:

“God said that the sins of the people had infected the very land in which they live,” he explained. “So what happens to people who engage in this activity, this sexual immoral activity? Go to Leviticus 20, God gives us the punishment for engaging in these sins… ‘If a man sleeps with a man as with a woman, they have both committed a detestable thing. They must be put...

Read: Reagan-appointed federal judge uphold's Louisiana's discriminatory marriage ban

A bad (and activist and reactionary) ruling that relies on all of the far-right's fear claims and denials of animus being a primary motivation behind marriage bans:

Robicheaux v Caldwell (Dist. Louis. 2014)-2

***

How do you know it's a terrible ruling? A man who equates gay people with drug addicts and claims gay parents push "distorted views" onto their kids is in love with it:

Family Research Council President Tony Perkins, a former Louisiana legislator, made the following comments:

"This rulin...

AFA's Bryan Fischer pens his most anti-intellectual column yet

Bryan Fischer doesn't believe that Michael Sam's NFL future is at all determined by his sexual orientation, but rather by his athletic prowess. And yet after arguing that point, the American Family Association's most anti-gay, and therefore most visible, senior analyst argues the very opposite when it comes to wedding vendors and their Screen Shot 2014-07-09 At 1.44.37 Pmsupposed "right." A snippet:

Now if Michael Sam and his boyfriend decided to get "married" and came not to the St. Louis Rams but to a Christian wedding vendor,...

NYC's self-appointed head of all things anti-gay & Catholic spins historic parade development

Screen Shot 2014-09-03 At 11.20.20 AmBill Donohue, the extremely anti-gay head of a tiny entity with outsized attention, has the following to say about the relinquishing of a ban that he has long championed:

Bill Donohue comments on the decision by the organizers of New York City’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade to allow an NBC gay group to march in the 2015 parade:

Never in the history of New York’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade have homosexuals been barred from marching, anymore than pro-life Catholics have, but in both cases they were not...

NYC St. Patrick's parade to no longer be defined by discrimination; green beer remains definitive

Screen Shot 2014-09-03 At 11.11.48 AmThe big news out of the New York this morning is that the organizers of the New York City St. Patrick’s Day Parade will, for the first time, allow an LGBT group to march in the 2015 event. For now it only applies to an LGBT group in-house at NBCUniversal (the network that airs the parade), but it is presumably an open door for every parade thereafter:

Former Exodus International activist: 'I am glad that the courts are striking down all the marriage bans across the country'

For himself, Randy Thomas, the former executive vice president of the now defunct "ex-gay" group Exodus International still believes that marriage is a spiritual union between a man and a woman. However, the man who once took his lobbying efforts all the way to the Bush White House now realizes that he does not have the right to force that personal sense onto public policy—and he's in fact sorry he ever tried.

Video: AFA's Fischer urges FLOTUS to fight obesity by fighting lesbians' sexual orientation

Just another move of the mouth from a man who has single-handedly freed the American Family Association of any tenuous claim to respectability, political viability, and intellectual responsibility that it might have ever had:

Some focus on exercise. Others focus on diet. But at the American Family Association gym, it's all about shedding yourself of truth in hopes that you might stuff yourself back into that stifling closet. Everyone has their own fitness regimen.

Frankly, I can't wait for the...

Um, but he lost to another pro-equality candidate, Tony

Tony Perkins is obviously tweeting this link because he thinks it says something about support for marriage equality:

But the truth is that Gov. Abercrombie's primary loss lends no credence to Tony and his favored cause of discrimination. First, it's believed that Abercrombie lost to his rival, state senator David Ige, because Hawaii has an open primary and Republicans turned out in droves to vote for a candidate who they think will be more vulnerable in the general elec...
