Audio: Tony Perkins' tiered employment protections (Christians safe, gays 'special')

On the second edition of Tony Perkins' new daily radio show, talk turned to a specific LGBT policy matter. Here's Tony's brief chat with a caller:

Perkins full show:Washington Watch Daily [AFA Radio]

First off—it's ridiculous that Tony says "I get what you're driving at," as if the caller's point is other than what he stated. The caller quite clearly stated his fears about Christian business owners being "forced" to hire Mormons or Muslims. That is what Newton said; that is what Newton meant.

Th...

Video: Donnelly, Fischer say Hagel's apology for saying something anti-gay makes him too pro-gay

In 1998, Defense Secretary nominee Chuck Hagel attempted to discredit former ambassador James Hormel (while still a nominee) by labeling him "aggressively gay." Hagel has apologized for the comments, and the Obama administration is encouraging LGBT advocates to accept what they say is a sincere apology. Some have accepted; others are still on the fence.

Not on the fence, however, are aggressively anti-gay activists Bryan Fischer and Elaine Donnelly. To them, it's Hagel's apology that poses the...

Peter LaBarbera's '20 Ways to Further Marginalize Anti-LGBT Politics in 2013' (paraphrase)

Angrier than ever at the mainstream marriage groups that have now pretty much shut his voice out of the debate altogether, longtime voice of aggressive anti-gayness Peter LaBarbera has laid out twenty suggestions for making his movement move in his direction. The end result—which recommence shutting out moderates, "educating" libertarians, and saving greatest rage for gay/affirming people of faith—is quite funny-sad:

20 Resolutions for Pro-Family Advocates Battling the Homosexual-Transgender A...

What do you mean the bishop is 'open to referendum solution'

I find this tweet extremely annoying:

Since when does a faith leader have the capital to determine what should or should not go up for referendum? It's like a legislator saying she would entertain a public vote on whether or not to enhance the flavor of the church's communion wafer.

He's "open" to a public vote on a matter of civil government? Perhaps the bishop would also be open to a much needed reconsideration of what does and does not constitute an overreach by a tax exempt organization.

Audio: FL pastor Jeffrey Smith equates homosexuality with serial killing, molestation, rape

His whole sermon on 12/16/12 was built around making gays seem perverted, sick (with mentions of fake ailments like "gay bowel syndrome"), and marked for suffering. It's this equation, however, that is the most offensive (and dangerous) for Jeffrey Smith to preach and for his congregants to internalize:

FULL SERMON:Homosexual Perversion [Sermon Audio]

Love is natural to me. Compassion is natural to me. Critical thinking is natural to me. Humor is natural to me. Wanting to do good by my communit...

Brian Brown predicts SCOTUS victory; clearly hopes all but Scalia, Thomas will call in sick

Defiant predictions:

“Everyone is looking at the Supreme Court. What happens then defines a lot of more about what happens next in the fight”

“We’re gonna win that and then there’s going to be a state-by-state fight, and our record on that is amazing.”

—NOM president Brian Brown, speaking to NBC News

Firstly, your record in the states is not as "amazing" as it once was, Brian. The media is now dominated with stories about the four states we won in the fall and the momentum that is so clearly on o...

Fantasia, I'm glad you clarified—but you were not taken out of context

In more measured comments than the ones she has been offering, Fantasia Barrino clarifies her recent comments. StarPulse has the interview:

There was some recent controversy over your comments in an Instagram post regarding gay marriage. Since you are known to have wide support in the gay community, can you clear up any misconceptions for us all over the post?

First of all, my words were taken out of context! After being personally attacked on my Instagram account, I was simply trying to respon...

Since many of you surely watched Downton Abbey last night, I thought we would keep the trend going with some equally high-minded programming:
