Tony Perkins: 'Protect your kids from a fate like Massachusetts's'

In truth, the policy is focused, protective, and cognizant of attempts to exploit it. It also has nothing to do with marriage.

But it's also truth the Family Research Council is focused on protecting its fundraising, a large part of which involves attempts to scare supporters about the supposed "harms" of marriage." So that being the interest, here's FRC's president, Tony Perkins, warning that a new Massachusetts policy designed to protect transgender students is somehow dependent on marriage...

Are You Tougher than Discrimination? #toughScout

Tonight the National Geographic Channel will air the first episode of "Are You Tougher Than a Boy Scout?" This despite the policies of discrimination that Boy Scouts of America continue to embrace:

Truth time: Inequality is not tough. It's not cool. It's not telegenic. It's not good. It's not valuable. The decision to look at our natural world and make the pointed choice to exclude a portion of it is, in fact, a weak choice. The Boy Scouts will never—not then, not now, not ever—be at its tough...

Clementi family, GLAAD, HRC, Equality Matters call on NOM to apologize

Last week, I shared Jennifer Roback Morse's crass suggestion that there is more to the Tyler Clementi tragedy than the media reported. Today, GLAAD's Commentator Accountability Project and HRC's NOM Exposed (full disclosure: I consult for and contribute to both projects) join the Clementi Family and Equality Matters in calling on the National Organization For Marriage to apologize for its spokesman's startling insensitivity:

March 4, 2013, New York, NY – Today, the family of Tyler Clementi was...

Most recently, the people of Iowa retained a justice. NOM must have forgotten that.

In an effort to convince the Iowa legislature that they should muck with certain kinds of citizens marriages even though those marriages are posing no harm to anyone, the National Organization For Marriage is saying this:

Only thing? While yes, NOM and a bucketload of conservative money was able to oust three justices during the conservative sweep of 2010, in the 2012 elections, Iowa voters chose to retain the lone pro-equality Supreme Court justice who was put before t...

Fact-checking NOM spokesman's CNN appearance

Two things:

It is completely ridiculous for NOM Communications Director Thomas Peters to deny that his advocacy against marriage equality is based on his own, deeply canonical version of morality. Thomas, the son of a prominent canon lawyer who has promoted "12 step programs for dealing with same-sex attractions" and described homosexuality and its acceptance as "behaviors that hurt the human person," has made it perfectly clear where he stands, not just on marriage but on homosexuality itself...

NOM adds new 'March For Marriage' speakers, further connects itself to obvious animus

Jim Garlow has claimed that Satan is behind marriage equality, has compared children who lost their parents on 9/11 to children with gay parents, and has compared the extension of marriage rights to the bane of slavery. More here.

Harry Jackson refers to gay-headed families as "discombobulated Frankenstein structures" that are "out of order" with God, routinely accuses gay people of recruiting kids, has said that the current push for marriage equality is "just like during the times of Hitler,"...

SBC's Frank page: Satan has a plan to destroy the Boy Scouts

Southern Baptist Convention president Frank Page knows why the Boy Scouts are currently debating inclusive scouting. As he just told Tony Perkins, it's because Satan wants to destroy the Scouts:

Oh please. Ridiculous! I mean everyone knows that Satan's gunning for Little League and 4-H, not the Boy Scouts. He's waaaay too khaki adverse to touch that org.

No word if Page and Perkins will ensure that the old "Satan is causing this" vibe gets in th...
