Reuters: Boys Scouts on track to end gay ban (***UPDATED)

This just in:

(Reuters) - The Boy Scouts of America called to end a long-standing ban on openly gay members, a spokesman said on Friday, but the organization's board must still vote in May on whether to ratify the resolution.

[Reuters]

**BUT wait a minute: David Crary from the AP is reporting that the new proposal would only apply to youth

Under pressure over its longstanding ban on gays, the Boys Scouts of America is proposing to lift...

Must you misrepresent everything, FRC?

There are lots of ridiculousness points in the Family Research Council's latest video attacking the idea of inclusive scouting. But for now, let's focus on one visual element, which is kind of poetic when you consider this organization's overreaches, general lack of respect for court procedure, bad protocol, and organizational egocentrism.

First the image. In its video, FRC pretends this photo is of Boy Scout officials holding a recent policy meeting:

FRC's Kenyn Cureton launches new project challenging church/state separation

The Family Research Council's Kenyn Cureton believes that gay people are "poor, deluded souls" who are "simply pawns in the hands of their malevolent master," constituting "the organized, mobilized, demonized forces of hell itself." When it comes to LGBT human beings, it's pretty darn clear what he wants America's children to believe.

But now Kenyn is taking on a new focus: the crucial wall of separation between church and state which we hold dear in America. Working in tandem with Derek Pack...

Does NOM really think it can (or should be able to) petition the Supreme Court?

I haven't written about this weeks-old petition because it's just too silly for words. But since the National Org. For Marriage is ratcheting up the attention it gives to its "petition to the Supreme Court Justices"…

…I guess we have to talk about it.

First off, let's call this what it is. This petition (which is hosted on Brian Brown's partisan ActRight site) is simply a way for NOM to collect names and build a list. They are collecting email addresses and building a database. Also, since it's...

'Ex-Gay' For Life?

Screen Shot 2013-04-18 At 1.42.29 Pm“I no longer support the ex-gay movement or efforts to attempt to change individuals — especially teens who already feel insecure and alienated. I feel great sorrow over the pain that has been caused when my words were misconstrued. I have worked at giving generously to the gay community in Portland where I work and live. I am working hard to be authentic and genuine in all of my relationships.”

John Paulk, former poster boy for the "ex-gay" movement, speaking to PQ Monthly

Focus on the Family's Day of Dialogue hypocrisy: Deletes and bans me for simply mentioning what's on their own website

Minutes after I posted this, the moderators of Focus on the Family's Day of Dialogue (ha!) page banned and blocked me:

[Day of Dialogue Facebook page]

As I said: Whatever. They just gave me an easy post and more mileage out of the heinous "particularly evil lie of Satan" claim that they continue to run on Focus on the Family's main website. I love it.

The un-blockable, un-deletable truth is that Day of Dialogue is "ex-gay" advocacy and Focus on the Family is just as anti-LGBT as it ever was. Pas...

Illinois' top 'pro-family' activist posts vicious meme from rabidly anti-LGBT Facebook group #glaadcap

"Heterosexuals Inspiring Pride" is a truly nasty Facebook group that creates vicious meme graphics. Describing itself like so...

…this group has created graphics that attempt to connect gays to NAMBLA, that paint us as diseased, that say we are "changeable," and more. This is the kind of thing you will find on this site:

And that's not even the worst one. It's seriously one of the most fringe Facebook pages you could find. I'm actually a little surprised it's still up (but it is, if you want to...

Desperate to link gays to polyamory, NOM claims 2011 story as new

I've been noticing the National Organization For Marriage attempting to link the wholly (and obviously) separate conversation of polyamory and theoretical legalization of such marriages with the topic of marriage equality for same-sex couples (as in two people). But yesterday, NOM really showed its agenda-laden colors.

Check out this snip, an intro from a NOM Blog post:

Only thing? What NOM says is "coming out of Canada [yesterday']" is actually a commentary piece that appeared in the...
