What Attorney General Harris said is true—and NOM *HATES* it
It's no surprise to see the National Organization For Marriage going after California Attorney General Kamala Harris. For one, the strong marriage equality supporter is an obvious rising star in the Democratic party with a bright future ahead of her, so the decidedly Republican NOM wants to stop that. Obviously.
But more than just that, the truth is that Harris got the job that NOM's own chairman, John Eastman, truly wanted—and the job that NOM wanted him to have. Longtime readers might rememb...
FRC recommits to pointed firing (/lack of hiring) of LGBT workers #enda
With stunning marriage losses weakening them considerably, the Family Research Council's action arm is now turning to stopping federal employment protections for LGBT people. But since these basic protections are something the American public largely supports (polling shows us that most Americans actually believe such protections already exist) and because the facts are inconvenient to their claims (e.g. religion is already a protected class), the FRC is ratcheting up the baseless smears. Acc...
You, Thomas Peters ≠ the victim
This is what my marriage is about, as defined by the National Organization For Marriage's Communications Director:
Weird, all this time I thought it was about the deep and abiding love I have for my husband, the committed life partner with whom I share all of the ups and downs along our shared journey. Guess I should have waited for young Thomas to define my reality for me.
No word if Hallmark has plans to Thom for its crude stone-casting department ("When you care enough to send the very best...
NOM EXPOSED: NOM = Prop 8 = NOM
American Family Association's top spokesman: What if you want to marry a goat?
Confronted with a charge of animus, other political movements would probably want to reconsider what they are putting out into the world. But as for the "pro-family" movement in America? Well, many of them are responding to the recent Supreme Court rulings (which ably noted the obvious role that animus plays in banning marriage equality) by further comporting loving gay couples' marriages to things like incest, pedophilia, and man-on-goat:

Hmmm. I do like goat cheese.

Sen. Feinstein's liberal lady-brain can't process Tony Perkins' complex thinking
Because of the Democratic senator's support for full legislative repeal of the now-demolished DOMA, Family Research Council president Tony Perkins (/his ghostwriter) is running this headline:
[FRC]
Well Tony, not all of us can be deep-thinking enough to denigrate gays as "pawns" of the "enemy,” create pamphlets that begin by likening the logic behind same-sex marriage to the logic behind man-horse marriage," baselessly claim that "we cannot redefine marriage without opening the door to all mann...
Hey, DOMA backers—Bill Clinton is not *your* talking point
When actual human gay Rachel Maddow confronted him on Meet The Press, longtime conservative Ralph Reed defended his position on the Defense of Marriage Act by asking, in part, if Bill Clinton was motivated by animus and was intolerant of gays when he signed DOMA into law. Reed also threw in names like VP Joe Biden and Sen. Patrick Leahy, since both voted for DOMA back in the day.
National Organization for Marriage president Brian Brown did the same sort of thing on George Stephanopolous' show....
A fond farewell to my colleague, sister, friend
We started at around the same time, and over the years she grew to be a trusted pal. And while I know the friendship will continue and that great things are in her future, it's still sad to know that Pam Spaulding's warm, comforting shoulder will no longer be on every day offer.
Go show some love and appreciation for an LGBT blog pioneer:
So long, farewell: today we close Pam’s House Blend – a look back. It’s been real. [Pam's House Blend]

Video: Chad Griffin celebrates joy, love, history; Brian Brown pretends options not running out
In the following clip, Human Rights Campaign president Chad Griffin is pure joy. It just radiates from his being. And why shouldn't it? This has been a truly amazing week (and Pride month) for every LGBT person and supportive ally. The gains are almost too tremendous to process!
Then there's National Organization for Marriage president Brian Brown. Watch both gents, as they appeared on this morning's edition of This Week with George Stephanopolous:

Joy returns to California: Couples can marry IMMEDIATELY!
It's official:
Prop 8: Gay marriages can resume in California, court rules [Los Angeles Times]
But please remember, my happy peers, that marriage is not an impulse decision you make at 3AM at the bar. It's a huge life decision. You don't want to Spears-in-Vegas it!
But mostly, let me say a hearty congrats to the Golden State. It's been an honor to fight this fight, from blinding darkness to today's endearing light.
