#1 I have a very special new ORIGINAL Painting up for sale - and 100% goes to charity! This piece is called "Attracting Butterflies" and it is a special painting I have created specifically to help raise funds for Robin Sullins (click here to read more about her) - a very special lady who is having a very difficult time now. She needs new hands & new legs after a tragic accident, and a lot of us who know her & her family in the fantasy arts community have all pitched in and donated artwork to help raise money for Robin's Relief Fund. the original painting is now up for sale on eBay HERE. She is a full sized 16x12 original painting, ready to hang, and every penny goes directly to the charity. We decided to change the name to reflect the fact that their division has grown to be SO much more than just figurines - it's an entire emporium of Strangeling Art! Then shortly after that - on March 21st at Orlando's CityArts I will be at the opening for a group show called "What Big Eyes You Have" featuring a couple of new original paintings from myself as well as work (all with big eyes!) from Margaret Keane, Yosuke Ueno, Michael Banks, Lisa Petrucci & many more wonderful artists. I painted this piece specifically to help out Robin Sullins (read about her at http://www.robinsullins.com - many of us fantasy artists have donated these paintings to help raise money for her Relief Fund. Featuring one of my traditional liquid eyed faeries, I wanted to symbolize somebody emerging from the gloom with a bright gift (the flowers) attracting magic (the butterflies!). There is a sense of hope and a classic almost Rococo feel to this painting. I hope that you enjoy it and I thank you for taking the time to help someone in need. My own original acrylic painting, painted on a wood/masonite panel.

New Owlyn Original, "Iris Enchantment" & more from Jasmine!
Hi everybody! Art news for today! Lots of news!

#1 I have a new ORIGINAL "Owlyn" Painting up for sale! Featuring one of my most popular characters - my owl fairy "Owlyn" - in her newest painting - "Owlyn in the the Springtime." She made her debut at the Celebration Art & Wine Stroll this weekend (and since the customer purportedly buying the original did not come through, sniff) the original painting is now up for sale on eBay HERE. The best Owlyn yet - she is already framed & ready to hang and has a lovely cherry blossom theme to her. Prints and limited edition canvases are also on eBay HERE too!
#2 Another new ORIGINAL painting - "Iris Enchantment"! A lush and gorgeous fairy from my Flower Faeries series, this beauty is surrounded by irises, lilies and butterflies. She made her debut at the Celebration Art & Wine Stroll this weekend and the original painting SOLD. Luckily though I already have prints & limited edition canvases up for sale on eBay HERE.
#3 One of my collectors has put the ORIGINAL "Poisonous Beauties VII: Hemlock" up for re-sale! At a great price too - "Hemlock" is the 7th painting in my Poisonous Beauties series and she is in a lovely ornate frame, all ready to hang. It is not my auction listing, but I can happily guarantee that this is the original painting itself, sold at Dragon*Con 2012 and is being listed by the original collector in its original frame. She's at a Buy-It-Now price or make your best offer and you can see her on eBay HERE.
#4 My CUSTOM PAINTING auction ends tomorrow night! Yes, one of my ever-popular Faces of Faery paintings is being sold "unfinished" up on eBay HERE, with bidding starting at a penny. The winner of the auction gets to tell me how to finish her - what colour hair, eyes, skintone, theme, details, maybe some wings or a small pet - whatever I can fit in there! And of course after I finish her, you get the actual original painting itself. Your chance to "direct" your own painting and be creative - I always have fun with these!

Little Owlyn is one of my owl fairy characters - here she in the springtime! Cherry blossoms are one of my favourite flowers, and remind me so much of Spring. Owlyn here is shown with one of her great horned owl companions. You may recognize my owl fairies from my "Call of the Night" line of figurines with the Hamilton Collection. And my new Owlyn costumes from California Costumes now in Halloween stores, Target, Walgreens, etc. And if not - check them out! A book featuring Owlyn (including poetry inspired by her) is being published later this year too - she's pretty special! The original acrylic painting is in a lovely ornate resin frame in a dark wood finish that sets off the woodland feel of this piece and is available up on eBay here:

Hi everybody! Art news for today! Lots of news!
#1 My new original painting "A Confusion of Wings" is finished! The original painting has already been sold, but I have the Limited Edition Canvases on eBay including the #01 tonight as well as other numbers HERE, and SALE prints of her are up on eBay HERE, and she will also be up at Zazzle shortly too.
#2 My new original painting "Veronica's Veil" is finished! Quick note about originals - many of you have been asking "How did the original sell so fast? How can I get one? Do I need magic powers or something?" -- The answer is that lately collectors have been buying paintings of mine before they are even finished. Basically if I have a painting that is *not* destined for display at a specific show or gallery, and if I post a work-in-progress photo of the painting while I am working on it here at my Facebook HERE or up on my Twitter HERE, or during a live video broadcast on my Livestream HERE, or on my Instagram (my user name there is Strangeling), I also post the approximate size & price of the painting. If a collector (you!) see the work-in-progress and already know you want it, you can basically call "first dibs!" on the painting by emailing me at JasmineToad@aol.com and put your name in. Typically we get a lot of requests, so they are handled in the order in which they are received. That is how a painting can sell before it is already finished =) So definitely keep an eye out for those work-in-progress pics up on Facebook, etc.

I could never tire of painting butterflies, definitely one of my favourite things to paint! My favourite in particular is the Blue Morpho, and they feature prominently in this piece. The fairy girl in the background is nearly obscured by the brilliant vibrancy of the fluttering butterfly wings - that is, until you catch her violet eyes looking at you! The original acrylic painting is SOLD, prints and Limited Edition canvases are available online (and large open edition canvases are also available at Downtown Disney's Pop Gallery at Walt Disney World).

"Veronica's Veil"

"Veronica's Veil" - a portrait of Saint Veronica and her famous veil - the "first icon". An apocryphal story about the Saint, once this was a very popular theme for medieval & renaissance paintings (everybody from Memling to El Greco painted her at some point). I thought I'd paint her myself, as I always thought it was an interesting story. The visage of Christ on the veil is based off of one of my favourite portraits of him which hangs in the Nelson-Atkins museum by where I lived as a little girl (I always found it a very striking image). The light of the heavens pours down from a sunset, and St. Veronica has a very sweet and sad look about her. I like this one a lot. My husband Matt created a very nice arch cutout for the frame on the original piece. The original acrylic painting is SOLD, prints and Limited Edition canvases are available online (and large open edition canvases are also available at Downtown Disney's Pop Gallery at Walt Disney World).

Probably my favourite mermaid so far! Also the largest and most complex I've painted so far too. The title is sort of an inside joke and refers to Giuseppe Arcimboldo - an Italian painter from about 500 years ago who painted a lot of "hidden picture" paintings. And obviously, there are a lot of hidden pictures in this painting - the mermaid's tail is made up completely out of sea creatures - sting rays, sand dollars, sharks, octopus, dolphins, abalone, seahorses, pearls, shells, oysters, lobsters, shrimps, eel, fish and loads more. The more you look at this the more you will see! I think this might have been the most fun I've ever had on a painting, and I plan on doing some similar hidden picture style pieces in the future. The original acrylic painting is SOLD, prints and Limited Edition canvases are available online (and large open edition canvases are also available at Downtown Disney's Pop Gallery at Walt Disney World). Probably my favourite mermaid so far! Also the largest and most complex I've painted so far too. I've always been interested in alchemy and medieval/renaissance science and magic (and how the two were very often interchangeable). I was lucky enough to see one of Nicholas Flamel's original books in London a few weeks ago, and it inspired me to explore some more alchemical themes in my work. There are a lot of references in old alchemical texts to an item called the "Philosopher's Egg" - it is all veiled in such obscure mysticism it's difficult to decipher, but I liked the phrase so I have created my interpretation with the eggs growing with runes on them (symbols for Abstraction, Digestion, Reverberation, Composition and of course Cum Vino!), with a medieval landscape in the distance.
The frame on this is cool - my husband Matt has cut a special gothic triptych which gives it a particular medieval/renaissance feel - really suits the painting very well! It almost has an altarpiece or stained glass window look to it! Here is the original painting itself (great photos!):

The latest installment in my ever-popular "Faces of Faery" series, this is the #207th in the collection. This is a new ORIGINAL painting - 6"x6" square like all of my Faces of Faery paintings, on 2" deep cradled masonite panel, ready to hang, no framing needed. I'm planning a much larger painting in the near future featuring some birds of paradise flowers (and the birds, too) so I wanted to practice first with a small painting also featuring the "birds of paradise" flowers. One of my favourite flowers, these grow all over the place around my house here in Florida! "The Princess and the Pea" is one of Hans Christian Andersen's most beloved fairytales. My version shows the petite princess hugging her teddy bear in her pajamas, atop a very fancy bed indeed. Brightly embroidered mattresses are piled up for her comfort, but if you look carefully you will see the pea that is causing her displeasure... One of the many fairytale-themed paintings that debuted at my Fairytale Fabulous solo show at Downtown Disney's Pop Gallery (also one I painted "live" as a demonstration at one of their "Jasmine Paints LIVE" events,) this is "Cinderella at Midnight". As the clock strikes midnight, Cinderella is caught running from the palace into the forest, leaving her glass slipper behind. Her royal coach has transformed back into a pumpkin, her gown into patched peasant rags, her coachmen into white mice. Painted with a pose and palette reminiscent of the Pre-Raphaelites, greens are very lush against the sparkling magical dust and Cinderella's shining hair. The original acrylic painting & Limited Edition Canvases can be found at Pop Gallery at Downtown Disney at the Walt Disney World Resort. Another one of the many fairytale-themed paintings that debuted at my Fairytale Fabulous solo show at Downtown Disney's Pop Gallery, A Portrait of Goldilocks! A softly baroque/rococo portrait style piece, here is lovely Goldilocks with some porridge - and the three bears in the distance. The little bears are inspired by a print I used to have of dancing bears that always reminded me of the Goldilocks story (now I now it was of the 1870s "Bear Dance" painting by William Holbrook Beard - he had so many delightful animal paintings). The historic portrait elements and classical feel have a bit of a pop-surreal feel with my big eyed look, Goldilocks' glorious mane of blonde hair, and the bear-cave-like lighting. An included elegant golden frame matches the classical ambience of this piece. The original acrylic painting SOLD at the show, prints are now available!

One of the many fairytale-themed paintings that debuted at my Fairytale Fabulous solo show at Downtown Disney's Pop Gallery, this is a portrait piece illustrating Hans Christian Andersen's 'The Little Mermaid' in my traditional 'big eyed' style. Her hair cascades over a Classical statue from the human world sunken in the sea of a young man listening to the world of the sea within a seashell, just as the little mermaid holds a mysterious potion to beckon her into the world of the humans. A beautifully painted nautilus shell with it's golden spiral shape represents the continuity of life both above and below the waves. The original acrylic painting SOLD at the show, but Limited Edition Canvases can be found at Pop Gallery at Downtown Disney at the Walt Disney World Resort. A couple of the many fairytale-themed paintings that debuted at my Fairytale Fabulous solo show at Downtown Disney's Pop Gallery, Here are "Hansel and Gretel." Hansel and Gretel was always one of my favourite fairytales growing up - it has everything, mean parents, kids running wild in the woods, evil witches, kidnapping, a house made of candy - pretty great! I've painted these two portraits - one of Hansel and one of Gretel in the murky woods outside the witch's candy cottage! Collectors may notice that this is one of my rare paintings of a boy character! Part of my ever-popular-long-running series "Faces of Faery" - this is the 205th installment! A new ORIGINAL painting, like all of my Faces of Faery she is 6"x6" in size, on deep cradled masonite with the sides painted a glossy black, she is ready to hang on your wall! A more realistic (but still stylized) fairy portrait, this girl has a feeling of vulnerability beneath all that eye makeup. Love this one! I have started the auction at just ONE PENNY and she will be up for a 10 day listing -

New ACEO Cards are up!
A ton of new ACEO Cards are now up on eBay! Each ACEO card is a tiny canvas print in the standard trading card size - 2.5"x3.5" - I only ever make ONE of each, ever, so they are truly one of a kind - I hand embellish & paint details on each in acrylic paint, sign them and number them #1/1 (since I only make one!).
