Are you part of the WGA now because of DaVinci's Demons, or something else?

DvD was a quarter of my points; there was another hour-long episode for a show that’s in development that earned me half my points; there was then a show of my own based on one of my books that put me over the top. all of that was before the milkfed universal deal, and subsequently there’s been two other hour-longs I’ve co-written.

boy non-specificity is unsatisfying. I should do that warren ellis thing and give everything codenames. Project HOUR-LONG IN DEVELOPMENT, Project ONE OF MY BOOKS, P...

Would you read my pitc-- just kidding, you're awesome and I don't want to bother you. What's the most important thing that there must be between the writer and the artist? (Or the writer and the rest of the team)

the thing i try to hone and improve and focus on between all the writing and plotting is specifically how to write foran artist. I think you have to develop a kind of secret grammar, a language only the two of you speak. I always want to figure out how to not just write well, but write well for whomever’s drawing the book, not just so our communication is clear but so that i’m getting the fuck out of their way and helping create the best Artist-Name book I can. Is the door closed on writing full fledged superhero comics ever again?

no door’s ever closed forever. the project terry dodson and i are working on, ADVENTUREMAN! is very straight-forward superhero-sort of stuff. Pulpy high adventure.

heya, Matt. can you give us any update on the return of Casanova? is it being held up by Image requiring 3-4 completed issues before solicitation? thanks!

no, it’s being held up by us not wanting to get in this position again so we’re getting the train back on the tracks to avoid having to relaunch the relaunch of the relaunch. y’know?

spring, i suspect.

Feeling good about Zobrist and Heyward?

super-psyched about heyward. he’s a lot of fun to watch. like – like he vibes to me like a dude what loves to play. it’s been a bummer for me since he was with ATL (who, when the cubs were at their late-eighties very-worst and i’d moved from north to south were ascending triumphant over the NL and thus were everywhere) and StL (y’know) and I had that weird baseball dilemma of liking a player but hating the team?

Anyway it makes my viewing life less complicated in the coming year and the energy...

SEAN YORO PAINTS HYPERREAL SEA LEVEL PORTRAITS ON HIS SURFBOARD

Using a surfboard, young Hawaiian artist Sean Yoro (aka Hula), paints murals while balancing on his board, placing his works just above sea level.

The murals, all portraits of women, have a hyperrealistic quality that appear as if each is existing just above the tide.
