“The PC police are ruining SF/F! We need to go back to the good ole days!” Here is Samuel R. Delany reviewing Star Wars Episode IV–and critiquing it for its lack of women and POC characters. In 1977. You’re very welcome. (His response to the old“It’s just entertainment!” chestnut? Muting half of humanity is not entertaining.) This, right here, is how it is possible to lo...

Is there any particular central theme/idea/goal you're pursuing with your creator owned comics work these days, or it more throwing characters into a pot and seeing what they do? (and/or how does the dynamic/tension between those two things play out in yo

These are the things we leave to the critics to decide, or for interviewers to attempt to pin me to the wall on.. Luckily for me, no critics read my stuff any more and interviewers just ask me what the entire plot of my latest thing is so that they don’t have to read and rewrite the press release, so I work in secret, and leave these things for the rare few readers to deduce. Anything else is self-aggrandisement and authorial intrusion.
