Book Review: Tease

Tease (Songs of Submission #2) by C.D. Reiss: When Jonathan was gone I couldn’t stop thinking about him, and the first thing he did when he got back was demand more of me. I’m willing to give him my orgasms and my time, but I find myself giving up pieces of my heart.

My career is on track, and even though I can’t write a thing, I can sing. So I’ll go to the art opening with him, because his ex wife will be there. I feel this need to protect him from hurt, though in bed, his domination brings me to my knees.

This man is going to break me into a million little pieces.
TeriLyn's thoughts: The aptly named Tease is just that, a tease. I thought I was hooked after Beg well C.D. Reiss dangled more bait and caught me this installment. Seriously Jonathon Drazen - where have you been all my life? His control is uncanny, his arrogance charming, his unbridled and unconventional passion in the bedroom so hot. His affections for Monica are quite genuine and while he’s fighting a battle within himself because of his ex, he’s quite taken with the fiery songbird he’s discovered can match him. Monica proves to be my favorite kind of heroine. She's just a funny and charismatic as Jonathon she’s challenging and stubborn; willing to give up control only to Jonathan because in giving that up she’s finding dormant parts of herself. Their scenes with each other are raw, honest, and almost vulnerable. Her willingness to accept him and need him for who he is pulls at readers hearts. The explorations of the beauty their uncovering make you want to read this again and again. The writing in these books is so interesting to me the way it flows it’s like watching scenes on a television screen. I feel like I've learned so much about these characters through quick flowing plots that before you know it the story ends. The author doesn't bore us with fluffy details yet she still exposes so much about the characters, I can’t get over the awesomeness of it. Each novella ends in such a way that you start to appreciate the cliffhanger.

Lori's thoughts: CD Reiss is a genious. Just the right amount of angst, and throw in a cliffhanger, and I can't wait for part 3. I am happy that TeriLyn got me started with this series. I can't say anything different than she already has. Highly recommend!

Cover Reveal: Femme Fatale

Title: Femme Fatale

Author: Kirsty-Anne Still

Release Date: Nov 7, 2014

Find on Goodreads

They call me the Femme Fatale.

But only because they don’t know me.

My job - seduce men to the climatic point of falling in love with me and then deliver their death sentence.

I work for my father’s business. I’m his secret weapon. I’m the one that gets away with murder.

For years, I’ve given in to my father’s demands, lived the life of a mob princess, fell into this merciless realm where he presents me with a man and one goal – to kill.

When it’s to keep the Abbiati name from ruins, I’ll run with the wolves and protect it fiercely.

However, when he brings a new name to the table, I know my newest mission could well be the one that breaks me - Don’t feel, don’t deviate, kill Zane Maverick.

It should be simple, but how am I supposed to choose between the man who raised me to be this heartlessly strong female and the man I could only ever love to death?

***Warning: scenes of sex and graphic murder***

"Well, well, well, Amelia Abbiati as I live and breathe," he introduces himself and I just look at him. His voice, that husky, sexy toned voice of his, silences all my woes and I hate the potent power he has over every tiny vessel of me. Admittedly, my breathing falters just at the mere sight of him and I see this pleases him. "Still a breathtaking sight."

"Thanks," I comment back, giving him a small smile. "I noticed you're still a hit with all the ladies. Some things just never change, huh?"

He chuckles, putting his hands out to shrug. "You can't take the devil out of some people."

“Don’t I know it,” I mutter my remark and am more than thankful when my drink arrives. I swipe the glass up and take a leisurely sip and allow the burn of the Scotch to scorch to life within my mouth. As I swallow it and feel the burn travel deep into my chest, heating me pleasantly I notice, from the corner of my eye, Zane occupy the seat beside me. I place the glass down onto the bar top, placing my hands on either side of my glass and give him a pointed look. “Oh, you’re staying?”

He cocks a brow. “Is that an issue?”

“Actually, yes,” I retort and swing my seat to face him. “Why on earth would you want to sit with me when you blindsided me and then left me?” I ask and move myself a little forward, deliberately trying to make him uncomfortable with my sensuality. “Because, right about now, I can think of better fucking things to be doing than sitting with you.”

“Yet, here you are, in a bar you know I love,” Zane observes, his tone becoming cocky. “Here was me thinking you were back for round two.” He reaches out as his finishes his sentence, readying to touch me and as he pushes a few strands of my hair back he offers a small smile and speaks again, “Because round one was pretty fucking amazing, Amelia.”

I used to be just another Fanfiction writer! That was until one person showed real interest in my work. And then another, and then another, until I had this whole group of people reviewing like crazy and wanting original work from me. I’d spent years writing for free online, I didn’t believe I had it in me to publish something!

But I’m glad I did!! I never imagined pushing my work and striving to reach my ultimate. I never imagined I’d be the girl who started The Viper Rooms! But who am I to deny the inspiration when it hits?

I love writing, it’s a lifeline. I love creating a world that others fall into. I love having the control to make a whole new world. It’s like a dependency, an addictive one. It’s one of the things I’m extremely proud of.

As much as I complain, I love the mini dialogues that go on in my head, the plotlines that attack me when I least expect them to. The ones that jump to life at the most inappropriate times and drive me totally crazy!!

For now I split my life between writing, dreaming, working, and volunteering with children.

Cover Reveal: Anyone But Him

Title: Anyone But Him

Author: Cassie Graham

Release Date: Fall 2014

Whitley Hayes is an ordinary girl with a gypsy heart. College is the only constant in her life. She’s made a lot of mistakes and she intends on keeping them in the past.

Move on and forget.

That’s her motto.

Jennings Cohen is no ordinary man—not at all. He would have never imagined his life would turn into such a spectacle. The tabloids exploit him, fans stalk him and the paparazzi are relentless. It’s not always fun being Jennings.

It doesn’t help that he has a secret. One that comes at a price he’s not sure he can pay.

Relationships get complicated and hearts shatter.

It’s not easy living a lie, but it’s easier than telling the truth.

“These people?” I question. I hadn’t noticed anyone else but Whitley since the moment I picked her up.

She levels her eyes, taking a drink of the water that was just delivered. I watch as she plays with the straw with her tongue, unintentionally. My mouth goes dry and I have to gulp past the lump in my throat.

“Yes, these people.” She slyly motions at the room. “Every person who’s made any sort of contact with you has this starry-eyed, dopey look to them.”

I put my arms on the table and lower my head. “You know,” I whisper. “I’m sort of famous.”

Next comes a swift kick to my shin and I wince, laughing. “Okay, okay. That was tacky.”

She covers her mouth from laughing. “Maybe a little.”

“What can I get you?” the waitress asks, interrupting us.

Whitley’s eyes widen. “Oh, umm.” She pushes the hair back from her face.

She’s so beautiful.

“Instead of the Mahi-Mahi, can I just get the one Mahi, because I’m not that hungry?”

My eyes bulge and I can’t contain my burst of laughter.

Saying nothing, the waitress pauses as Whitley looks up to her looking innocent and doe-eyed.

I have to give it to Whitley, she doesn’t break. She keeps a straight face and looks to the waitress, expecting a response.

“We,” the waitress, whose name appears to be Lacy, stutters, not understanding the movie quote. “We’re actually out of the Mahi-Mahi.”

Unaffected, Whitley closes the menu. “Oh, well, okay. I’ll just have the tilapia with roasted vegetables. Thank you.”

Lacy takes Whit’s menu, shakes her head and turns to me. “And, for you?”

Now she’s short with me.

“I’ll take the flounder. Thank you.” I smile at her, struggling to break the tension.

Lacy’s shoulders soften and she takes my menu and heads toward the kitchen.

When we’re alone, I look to Whitley. “House Bunny? Really?”

“What? I thought it was funny.”

“Me too,” I admit. Laughter is something that has been sparse in my life.

“Is it your favorite movie?”

She laughs. “House Bunny? God, no. Funny, but certainly not my favorite.”

“Then, what is?”

She takes a moment to think, not answering right away. “Honestly? I don’t really have a favorite movie. Well...I mean, maybe I do. It’s just so hard to choose. It changes all of the time.”

“Okay. Top three.”

“Umm...Princess Bride, Ferris Buller’s Day Off, and uhh—oh geeze, any Harry Potter.”

She seems embarrassed by her admission, but I sort of love her list. All classics in their own right.

“My name is Inigo Montoya. You kill my father. Prepare to die.”

“Yes!” She whoops. “Best line, ever.”

I laugh. “You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.”

She stomps her foot under the table. “Inconceivable!”

We laugh together, and Whitley’s eyes sparkle with mischief.

“Okay, Mr. Famous, what is your top three?”

I hesitate. I’m always asked this question in interviews. Most are just hoping for their next endorsement, but I always give a generic answer. Usually, it’s the movie I’m filming or promoting at the time.

Cracking my knuckles, I try to really think about my answer. I’ve never genuinely thought about it. “Oh Christ, you can’t ask an actor that,” I laugh. “Really, I don’t know.”

Her shoulders sag. “You don’t know?”

“I don’t. I’m always in movies. I don’t have time to actually watch them. Hell, I’ve never even seen any of the movies I’ve filmed.”

“Wait, wait.” Whitley puts her hands up, stopping me. “You’ve never watched one of your own movies? Like, you’ve never watched yourself on the big screen?”

I shrug my shoulder. “Nope.”

“What?” she asks, dumbfounded. “Why? How? I mean—Jesus, Jenns, what do you do at premiers?”

I turn away, not really proud of my answer. “I leave. Slip out the back, or sit in the lobby. It’s always deserted while the film is running.”

“Then what? You return as the credits roll?”

“Basically, yeah.”

“Wow,” she breathes.

“It’s just my thing. I don’t like to watch myself. In my eyes, I could always change my performance. I could have said something with more feeling, or looked deeper into the characters eyes. I’m hard on my acting, and in turn, end up beating my myself up. It makes me a shitty actor.”

Whitley stares at me blankly as I give up one of my secrets.

It seems like hours before she blinks.

“What are you thinking?” I ask. Frankly, I’m tired of waiting for her to say something. I thought she’d at least have an opinion.

Slightly shaking her head, she drags her fingers through her hair. “Holy shit. You have no idea.”

My mouth quirks down, and I tilt my head. “I have no idea, what?”

“You are...,” her eyes haze, letting me see into that door of her soul. “You are phenomenal on screen. Charismatic and fluid. Compelling and magnetic.” She touches my hand. “You draw people in with looks alone, Jennings.”

Not that my ego needs anymore feeding, but, fuck me, hearing her say those words. Words that don’t mean shit from anyone else, makes me feel like jumping on the table and shouting for fucking joy.

My smile can’t be controlled. “You’ve seen my movies, Whitley?”

She rolls her eyes, a smirk breaking through her features. “Shut up. Everyone has."

“I didn’t peg you for someone to watch those kinds of movies.”

She snorts a laugh and rubs under her eye. “Yeah, well, you’re sort of famous.”

“You can’t resist my raw magnetism, right? God, I’m sexy.”

All truths burn bright and clear. I’m still waiting in the dark.

Goodreads Pre-order link later is coming soon, with a
special price!
Her. Him. Alone. Beach house. Every Wednesday.
Clothing optional.Twenty-one-year-old Aria Prince has just moved
back to her hometown to start over after a painful divorce. She’s always prided
herself on being an early bloomer, but had no idea she’d be married, divorced,
and the mother of a toddler by twenty-one. Surely menopause was just a few
months away, especially considering the hot flashes and night sweats. Or was
that just exhaustion? Unlike her friends who were at school, going
to parties, and sowing their oats—wild and otherwise—Aria’s days were measured
in the number of orders she took at her family’s restaurant, the chapters she
read in her nursing text, the amount of Cheerios she cleaned up off the floor,
and the wet kisses she received from her son.And that was just fine with her.But when she began running into her former
best-friend Tristan Green—who was home taking care of his sick father—at every
turn, she remembered what it felt like to be just Aria. Not a single mother, or
sleep-deprived nursing student, or royal screw up. And though she didn’t even
have time to shave her legs, let alone consider a sex life, Tristan makes an
offer she’d be a fool to refuse. Each day they’d give themselves to those who
needed them. Every day – except Wednesday. Wednesday they’d take what they
needed from each other.Did she forget to mention Tristan was
gorgeous?Or that they hated each other?Well, you know what they say about the line
between love and hate … it’s a skinny-ass bitch. The question was, could they
keep their feelings out of it?

Here is a sneak peak at WEDNESDAY
She came to town on a Wednesday. More like
floated in with the breeze. No fanfare. No welcome wagon. One day she was a
distant memory.  And the next? She was at
the supermarket buying fruit like it was no big deal. She slid in under the
radar, like an annoying little mosquito you don’t notice until it’s draining
your blood.    Aria Prince, or was it Anders? I made it my
business not to know. Once she left town with him, after I poured my fucking
heart out to her and tried to stop the wedding, I left too. I didn't want to be
close to anything that reminded me of her.    Yet here I was, almost four years later,
with absolutely no idea what I was in for.

Grant Carter did everything in his power to convince Harlow Manning that he was a good guy. More than a smooth-talker and someone she could trust. He had to overcome his reputation as a playboy, and his history with Harlow's half-sister, Nan, a woman with a reputation of her own.

Harlow had taken the chance, falling hard and fast for the guy who thrilled her with his all-consuming desire. After a lifetime of avoiding bad boys like Grant, she had opened herself to the possibilities of love...

But a life-changing secret has torn them apart, and now Grant and Harlow must decide if they have enough fight to make it work - or if the pain of betrayal has permanently destroyed their future.

EXCERPTKiro

Why couldn’t it have been my motherfucking heart? Why did it have to be my baby girls? I had been asking this question since the day they told me and Emmy that there was an issue with Harlow’s heart. I would have moved heaven and earth to take that from her. But just like I couldn’t save my Emmy. I couldn’t save our daughter.

She was stubborn and she was so fucking brave. That damn hard head of hers had been something I admired. Until she decided she was gonna have a baby. I knew she’d never abort it. Wasn’t in her nature. She had been trying to save the world since she was three years old. She always put others before herself. She preferred the people she loved over her wants and needs.

It was one of the things that made her so damn beautiful. Just like my Emmy. And she was all I had of my Emmy. The light in Emmy’s eyes had been gone for so long. Every day I visited her I hoped to see her eyes light up with understanding and she would come back to me but that never happened. Not once.

The only way I could see that light was to look at our Harlow. Our little miracle. And now, she was lying back there on some goddamn hospital bed with tubes in her and barely hanging onto life.

All I could think about on the flight here was how I was going to wrap my hands around Grant Carter’s neck for doing this to her. He hadn’t thought about her safety he had thought with his fucking dick. And my sweet Harlow loved the man. She wanted his kid. And he let her do it.

Rush had tried to talk to me and calm me down before Grant got back out here from seeing the baby that could have very likely just killed my baby. He said Grant was a wreck. That he had been standing there like a man possessed watching the door for a sign of Harlow. For any word.

He was scared. Good. Motherfucking GOOD! He should be. Maybe death was too good for him. A life empty and void because the woman who owns you is gone is hell on earth. That was what he deserved. I’d lived it and I knew what it was like. Death would be too easy for him.

I glanced back at Dean who was sitting with Blaire talking, then found where the rest of the band had found places to sit. When I’d gotten the call they had all shown up at the airport with me. They loved my girl too. She was their family. There was a good chance they’d kill Grant.

“Kiro,” Grant said and I jerked my head back around to see the man responsible for this. He was wearing a pair of blue scrubs which meant he’d probably been back to see that baby that took my Harlow from me. The dark circles under his eyes and the pale color of his face didn’t make me feel any better.

“You killed my, baby,” I snarled unable to not take out my pain on someone.

Grant tensed and Rush was there in between us immediately. He looked fierce and ready to take me on.

“She’s alive. She’s fighting because that is what she does. I don’t give a damn who you are I will have your ass removed from this hospital if you can’t keep it together. I’m sorry you’re hurting. I know you’ve got to be scared as shit. But so is he,” Rush said pointing at Grant. “He’s fucking terrified. Losing her would destroy him. He’s already breaking apart. So don’t come in here throwing shit around and accusing him of anything. He stood by the woman he loves when she was determined to have this baby. He couldn’t force her to do something she’d never get over.”

Dean came up beside his son and put a hand on Rush’s shoulder as if to make sure I knew I wasn’t going to be able to attack Rush either.

“The boy looks like he’s been through hell. Harlow wouldn’t want this. She would want you to be here for each other. You know that, Kiro.” Dean said in a stern tone.

They were all on the boy’s side. He could have stopped this. My baby wanted to give him a baby. She loved that baby because it was his. So hell yes I blamed him. He should have used a mother fucking condom.

“He didn’t protect her. He could have saved us all this with something as simple as a damn condom.”

Grant closed his eyes and I saw him tremble. Apparently he knew that too. He was taking the blame. Good. He needed to know if we lost her he killed her. Him. He didn’t take care of her. She trusted him and this was what happened.

“He didn’t know about her heart until the day she left him. She was pregnant before she left. She just didn’t know it,” Rush explained.

I already knew that. I didn’t care. He still should’ve used a condom. Respect a girl like Harlow and protect her from your dick. It’s fucking courtesy.

frayed SynopsisThe Connections series continues with this spin-off novel.

He didn’t think, he didn’t question—he just acted.
What she wanted, she took—without regard.
It was only one night, but it changed everything.

After losing his fiancée, Ben Covington is unsure he’ll ever love again. But when he sees Bell Wilde, he’s so deeply drawn to her, that he’s thrown for a loop. Maybe it’s purely sexual chemistry that’s igniting this spark between them...or maybe it’s his second chance at love.

Bell has just gotten her life back on track and may not be up for the challenge of Ben Covington. But once they’re reunited, there’s no holding back—even if a secret from Bell’s past just might shatter them both.
