Here in Rwanda, no one has ever put a hand out to me for a bribe – not once in the near decade I’ve lived here. That lack of hemorrhaging is what will enable us to stop Ebola here.

An American Yazidi Trying to Save Iraqi Yazidis

Sharifa Khalil was just days old when her family crawled under a fence at the Iraq-Syria border in 1988 to escape Saddam Hussein’s rule. Now a resident of Lincoln, Nebraska, Sharifa is working with other members of the persecuted Yazidi minority to try to avert a genocide of the Yazidis back in Iraq.
