The Lost Words available on Smashwords

Dear readers and chance lurkers, you’ll probably be somewhat enthused to learn that The Lost Words series is now also available on Smashwords. Following a successful experimentation with I Shall Slay the Dragon!, I decided to port several more titles to this platform, starting with The Lost Words, a complete, four-book series published in 2012-2015. Best of all? The first book, The Betrayed is free! An early holiday season gift, if you will. This gives you a chance to sample...

What I learned from self-publishing

It’s been roughly six years since I published my first paperback – The Betrayed. Although I’ve published books before (technical stuff) in digital format, my official entry into the world of independent authoring, the way people perceive it, started in 2012. In the past six years, I had a chance to release seven novels, with another five books, bearing my name out either as a primary author or a co-author, also seeing the light of the day in that same...

CreateSpace is dead, long live KDP!

Like many an independent author, I was surprised by the (somewhat) unexpected and for me, rather ill-timed, announcement that CreateSpace would cease its professional services offering. This inopportune change coincided with my imminent decision to publish another book. All of a sudden, I was left in a lurch. Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP) was suggested as an alternative, but it’s mostly self work, whereas I really wanted someone else to do the actual editing piece for me. So what now? I...

The sci-fi book is complete

Ladies, gentlemen, extraterrestrials! Another novel nailed. Roughly two months since I started writing the book, it is now complete. One hundred thousand crisp words. Faster than light travel, lighter than air encounters of the fourth kind, galactic political intrigue, space battles, you name it, it’s all there. Well, most of it. The name of the book? The Paradox. This was a productive summer. I averaged about 1,600 words/day with this novel, although it was more like 3,000 words every other....

Interview with Paul Kearney

Paul Kearney is one of my favorite authors. The best way to describe Paul is as a creator of ultra-realistic, soul-wrenching, action-gripping novels. Or the Father of Grimdark, in shorthand. A couple of weeks back, I asked Paul for an interview, and he has graciously accepted. 1. Can you please introduce yourself? I’m 51 years old, smoke a pipe, enjoy a good malt whisky, and I have been in more fistfights than I can remember – most of which I...

I’m writing a new book – sci-fi

The genre of science fiction is not new to me. I’ve already dabbled in it quite some over the years, including a fair range of short stories, featuring space travel, robots, androids, dystopian, futuristic, and apocalyptic themes. But I’ve never written a full sci-fi book. Well, I am writing one now. It should be an interesting experiment – for many reasons. One, this is another attempt to trail blaze into uncharted territory and expand my writing skills. Two, the theme...

Darkness (Humanz 2.0) is complete

Great news. I have finished writing the second volume in the Humanz series, a dystopian zombie series, told from the perspective of a zombie, in first person. Decay, the first book, was released back in 2017. And now, the sequel is ready. This one is called Darkness. Like Decay, this is a novella, short, fast-paced and grim, and it continues the cliffhanger action from the first volume. New moral dilemmas plague the zombie leader, eve as he fights the losing...

Ginger vs Dragon – Bible style!

When you think about it, few red-haired people share the same fame as the biblical Romeo cum Rambo – the archetypal good-guy Samson, whom I chose as the protagonist for my latest book, I Shall Slay the Dragon! Yes, I know what you’re thinking. Of all the fantasy themes I could have picked, why this one? Now that the book is out there, I thought about spending a moment or three talking about this idea. On one hand, it feels...

I Shall Slay the Dragon! has been published

Ladies, gentlemen, I am proud to announce the publication of my latest book, I Shall Slay the Dragon! This epic, biblical mythology novel retells the original tragic love story – that of Samson and Delilah – only with a twist. Now, there’s a dragon, too. For those asking and wondering: Sweet cover design by Anton Kokarev, cover and interior formatting by Andrew Leon Hudson, and proof reading services by Charlotte Ashley. Finally, I must thank my wife (localhost), who made sure...

More free books – Celebrating 12 years of Dedoimedo

My main website, the super-mega-awesome tech blog dedoimedo.com, is turning twelve next week. To commemorate this fine date, I am most benevolently giving away some (more) free books. Amazon Kindle stuff. The books in question are: The Betrayed, Book One of The Lost Words, a complete four-book series, and this one will be available for free June 27-29, midnight to midnight PST. Then we also have The Amazing Adventures of Dashing Prince Dietrich, the first volume in the splendid trilogy...
