I finished writing a book … in just 10 days

Readers of mine, welcome. I think I’ve just broken a personal best when it comes to finishing a book. The previous record stood at 34 days for Prince Dietrich, the first volume that is. Now, I’ve managed an even better lap time. Just ten merry days of writing. So what gives? Here are some numbers. The new work is a technical-business book. Non-fiction that is, and actually, this is easier writing Read more of this blog post »

The Golden Horde (Mystery & Thrillers)
30 chapters   —   updated May 04, 2020 08:19AM
Description: War World Three… Why, did you expect the series to end with just two installments? Sometime in the near future, a war breaks out between Russia and China. The rest of the world gets pulled in, along the west-vs-east divide. The fighting has been going on for a while. The nukes have been used. The end does not seem near. Lee Qiang is a special forces operative sent to take command of the most notorious West Army unit – the Golden Horde, a legendary company of elite mercenaries. He has one mission – find the elusive leader of the East Alliance forces, Shishka, and kill him. With Shishka removed, the army will be able to break the long, bloody stalemate in Sector 8, the most vital theater of operations – and finally change the tide of the war. But before Lee Qiang can complete his task, he must win the loyalty of the battle-hardened Golden Horde. Captain Lip, the brutal founder of the mercenary unit, has no intention of letting go. And with his half-Chinese heritage, Lee Qiang faces not only the horrors of war, but also mistrust from his subordinates. Snipers, mortars, backstabbing, radiation… That is only the beginning of Lee’s troubles…

Exorcism is a Tough Business (Science Fiction & Fantasy)
1 chapters   —   updated Mar 23, 2017 12:53PM
Description: A short story originally intended for an anthology. It's a parody about everything. Imagine a topic. It's there. More specifically, this is a story of lucky numbers, religion and the economy downturn, with a twist of the supernatural.
The Price to Pay (Science Fiction & Fantasy)
1 chapters   —   updated Jan 11, 2017 09:32AM
Description: This is a short story written for the Flash Fiction monthly competition on the SFFWorld forums. The theme of the May-June contest was The Price to Pay, and I've named my work the same way. Creatively unimaginative.

William Shakespeare
“This story shall the good man teach his son;
And Crispin Crispian shall ne'er go by,
From this day to the ending of the world,
But we in it shall be remembered-
We few, we happy few, we band of brothers;
For he to-day that sheds his blood with me
Shall be my brother; be he ne'er so vile,
This day shall gentle his condition;
And gentlemen in England now-a-bed
Shall think themselves accurs'd they were not here,
And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks
That fought with us upon Saint Crispin's day”
Shakespeare's Henry V

“Freddy, as a younger man, I was a sculptor, a painter, and a musician. There was just one problem: I wasn't very good. As a matter of fact, I was dreadful. I finally came to the frustrating conclusion that I had taste and style, but not talent. I knew my limitations. We all have our limitations, Freddy. Fortunately, I discovered that taste and style were commodities that people desired. Freddy, what I am saying is: know your limitations. You are a moron.”
Lawrence Jamieson, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels

“Inconceivable!"
"You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.”
William Goldman, The Princess Bride

“In theory it was, around now, Literature. Susan hated Literature. She'd much prefer to read a good book.”
Terry Pratchett, Soul Music

“Three Rings for the Elven-kings under the sky,
Seven for the Dwarf-lords in their halls of stone,
Nine for Mortal Men, doomed to die,
One for the Dark Lord on his dark throne
In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie.
One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them,
One Ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them.
In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie.”
