No Net Carbs… And a Sexy Six

Well, this low-carb thing isn’t too bad… I wish I could eat a brownie, and I’m afraid I’ll turn into a mouse from all the cheese, but all things considered, it’s not bad.  Good news?  Only one migraine!

So, since it’s Sunday and all, I suppose I should give you your six sentences, huh?  How about a super sexy six from Fight For Me? (Uh, this probably isn’t safe for work… Just sayin’)

He let out a grunt when he covered her, bracing himself on his good arm and thrusting home. He had been inside her before, but she was still surprised by the slight burn as she stretched to take his entire length. Last time he had given her the reins, but this time he took her with long strokes, filling her fully before pulling out and filling her again. He claimed her mouth as well, sharing her taste and smell with her with every thrust of his tongue. She wrapped her legs more tightly around his waist as he pounded into her, her nails scraping over the crisp cotton of his dress shirt, and she felt her body clench in anticipation of another mind-bending orgasm. He didn’t slow his pace when she shattered around him, finally groaning into her mouth when he found his own release, his cock pulsing within her.

Wednesday WIP

My writing schedule, if you can call it that, has now been turned on its ear.  Since I’m now getting up at the buttcrack of dawn to get children ready for school and I keep falling asleep in my chair before midnight, I am now trying to write in the mornings (yeah, like now).  The good part is: I have been writing, so there we go.  So… as promised, a snippet from Fight For Me.

When she finally disconnected the call, he found himself asking, “You got a thing with good ol’ J.D.?”

Her dark eyes narrowed. “Would it matter?”

“Hell yes, it would.”

She glared at him. “No, I don’t have a thing going with J.D.” She walked away a few steps before turning sharply. “Do you think I would’ve kissed you if I had a thing with anyone else?” She marched back to him, her long finger poised to poke him in his chest. “I told you I don’t do casual.”

Sunday Six…er…Seven

This week has been… hectic to say the least.  Both kiddos are in school (at different elementary schools, because Girlchild is in the gifted/talented magnet), so Wonderful Hubby and I have been run ragged.  On top of that, he and I started a new diet that is supposed to help with migraine, with weight loss as a nice added benefit.  We’re not fat (especially not WH), but if it will stop migraine, I’d eat almost anything recommended.  So, this week hasn’t been great for writing.  Today, however, I have been writing (yay!).  Sooo…  a snippet from FIGHT FOR ME.

He nodded genially, every bit the consummate professional. “You can email it to me if that’s easier.”

Thank you, Detective. We will do that,” she agreed before grasping the brooding bodyguard’s hand and leading him away. Brandon shook his head. That man was a sniper, a Ranger, a skip-tracer, hell, he was even a hero, but he was also pussy whipped. How the mighty have fallen.

Wednesday WIP

I have been a crazy person lately, so this Wednesday WIP is a short and sweet post.  A little sexy snippet from Fight For Me.

“Don’t mess with me, woman. If you don’t climb down right now, I am not responsible for my actions,” he warned.

She was moving, but not to get off. He held back a laugh at his thought. Getting off was exactly her aim, rubbing her mound against the hard ridge of his cock.  He’d never wanted to be inside a woman more than he did right now, but he let her take the lead. He would be patient if it killed him.

Wednesday WIP (and other stuff, too!)

Good news: I have been slightly less distracted with the Olympics and have been writing.

Bad news: What I thought was a reveal in the plot turned into a twist…  We’ll see how that works out for our lovely hero and heroine.

So, first the excerpt from Fight For Me you expect on Wednesdays

He held back a groan. Was he sure? “I wanted to toss you on the floor before we left, pin you to the wall at your parents house, have you ride me in the truck. I am not the one who has to be sure, Cassie. It’s you.”

“I.” She closed her mouth, her eyes tracking the lights in the ceiling, and he prayed the rest of the sentence was “want you.”

And now, something I haven’t done in a great while–I read a book!  I know, I know, the ticker-tape parade should be headed my way any minute now.  All kidding aside, I haven’t been reading the way I used to because of this pesky writing thing (and no, I’m not complaining, just stating facts).  I actually, believe it or not, was able to read three books in the past couple weeks (to the detriment of sleep, but who needs that, right?)

Oddly, they are all series books, and two are the third of trilogies within series (I know, I know my addiction is showing).  First, we have Forever and a Day by Jill Shalvis.  Third in the Chocoholics trilogy within the Lucky Harbor Series, this book is my favorite of the three and quite possibly my favorite of the six.  It centers on doctor, father, and weight-of-the-world carrier, Josh Scott and dog walker/nanny/bookkeeper/not-sure-what-she’s-doing Grace Brooks.  Of course, as expected, there are strong supporting characters in both sets of best friends (and stars of the two previous trilogy books), Mallory and Ty and Amy and Matt, not to mention Josh’s son and sister and the rest of the delightfully nosy citizens of Lucky Harbor.  Josh is trying to hold down the fort and control his world, and Grace is, well, Grace is a necessary and wonderful rocking to his boat.  You know me–I am not a synopsis writer, and I don’t do spoilers, but suffice to say this is a book (and series) so worth reading.

Next we have Double Down by Katie Porter.  This is the first of a series revolving around Air Force fighter pilots, and as soon as I finished this book I pre-ordered the other two.  Major Ryan Haverty has a predilection for role-play and when he meets Cassandra Whitman she’s wearing seamed stockings with her waitress uniform.  A hot and heavy relationship ensues, and although Cassandra is all-in with the role-playing, Ryan feels like his wants and needs are dirty and wrong.  This is a hot book, and although I think the good Major is way too hard on himself, I very much enjoyed it.

Last we have All Summer Long by Susan Mallery.  Like Forever and a Day, this is the third in a trilogy within a series, this one wrapping up the three Stryker brothers with the wholly delectable Clay Stryker.  Former model and Hollywood butt double, he has come home to Fool’s Gold to be near his family and do something with his hands instead of standing around looking hot.  His heroine is Charlie, a firefighter struggling with feeling like an ugly duckling and issues with men.  Naturally, she asks Clay to help her and just as naturally, she doesn’t believe  he could be attracted to her because he’s so perfect.  I love Fool’s Gold, and enjoyed this story a little more than some of the others because (*spoiler alert*) there is no unplanned pregnancy!

Sooo…. Now, it’s back to my own fictional small town.  See ya Sunday!

Distracted Much?

So, yeah, I’ve been a litt…er…a lot distracted lately.  I’ll admit, I enjoy watching sports every four years I don’t give a second thought in the time between Olympics.  It’s fun.  The bad thing is I haven’t been writing like I’m supposed to, but  I’ll be better, I promise.

So, since I missed Wednesday, a snippet from Fight For Me.

“I’d gotten the occasional threat before, but nothing until you came to stay with me, Dylan. What if it’s you in danger? I can’t protect you the way you can me.” Shit. As true as that was, she hadn’t meant to sound so attached.

He smiled. “We’ll just have to watch each other’s backs then.”

“Deal.”

Humans are Amazing

[image error]It’s time for the Olympics, and once again I am awed by humans and what some are able to do.  Last night we watched Ryan Lochte smoke the competition in the 400m IM, and today I saw the US Water Polo Team win their match.  (That just might be the most exhausting sport known to man, by the way).

The parade of nations is one of my favorite things ever–watching all those delegations march in alphabetical order, no one better or worse than the other, no one fighting or worrying about anything but winning a game and bringing home a medal and glory for themselves and their home country.  It makes me proud to be human, and gives me hope that one day we might as a species realize we are all equal, no matter our skin color, language or whom we choose to marry.  *Sigh* One day, right?  One day.  Until then, we can watch humans in the very best condition perform amazing feats on a daily basis.

So… Now that I’ve made myself sound like a wide-eyed idealist, I suppose you’d like six sentences?  Okay, then.  How about a sexy six From Fight For Me?

She took a deep breath and played the game with him. If he could make her wet and aching with almost a half hour left on their drive, she could return the favor. “I want to take you in my mouth and down my throat. I want to swirl my tongue around the tip and lick your essence, I want to feel you explode.” She swallowed. She was supposed to be torturing him, but she was doing a fine job of arousing the hell of out herself.

It’s Still Wednesday!

It’s Wednesday, and you know what that means.  From Fight For Me.

“Just be careful, Cass.” He paused, a slight chuckle vibrating the phone against her ear. “Next time you disappear, I won’t worry, I’ll just assume all is good in Hotsexlandia.”

“Really, J.D.? Hotsexlandia? You graduated top of your class from Harvard Law, yet you say things like that?

His chuckle gave way to a full laugh. “Harvard Law does not a comedian make.” He took a breath, his tone much more somber when he went on to reiterate his earlier caution, “Just be careful, Cass.”

“I will,” she promised. “You don’t have to worry about me.”

“Somehow, I don’t believe you.”

Piracy

I know, I know, you’re probably expecting six sentences from FIGHT FOR ME since it’s Sunday, and we’ll get to that in a minute.  First, I want to step up on a soapbox for a second.  I know people love to share great reads they’ve found, and that’s all fine and dandy, but–and here’s the big but–downloading from an unauthorized site and not paying for the book is stealing.  I know, you can find just about anything on the internet, and I don’t begrudge anyone looking for legitimate free reads– there are plenty of sites linking to great free reads, Pixel of Ink, Free Booksy, eReader Love, not to mention Amazon, B&N, All Romance and Kobo themselves.  If a book is free on purpose, then by all means download the heck out of it, sing its praises everywhere, and buy the author’s backlist or the rest of the series.  Free books are often marketing tools for authors to get you involved in a world, a storyline, a character, and occasionally they are pieces that are too short or just not right for publishing.  I have some myself that started life on Literotica, not to mention Speeding which will always be free because it started that way, and even after editing, I can’t fathom charging you for something I have freely offered for a year (but that’s an entirely different soapbox).

The point I’m trying to make here is: If it’s a matter of not having the money to feed your reading habit (believe me, I understand that one all too well), there are tons of free reads available, and there are these great places called libraries, with the sole purpose of lending books!  A lot of those libraries are lending digital copies as well, so if you like me are a digital reader, the libraries can cater to you there, too.

Okay, so off the soapbox, and on to what I’m supposed to do on Sundays!  I am not officially sixing this week, but I’ll pop the link in here anyway so ya’ll can go check out the folks that are official.

It’s good not to be official–I’m cheating today and giving you seven!

An old Olivia Newton John song popped in her head and she laughed at herself. No, she swore she wasn’t getting physical with him, not in reality, at least. In her dreams she could do anything, and he wasn’t in pain. She held back a moan at the thoughts tumbling through her mind. Good Lord, how was she going to handle this for another month or more? She had given her word and offered her home, and she was a woman of her word.  She just hoped that word wouldn’t kill her.

Wednesday WIP

FIGHT FOR ME is coming along, and I almost missed Wednesday again.  Eeek.  So, a  snippet.

She was at the door quickly, her own navy blue suit in place, a ruffled white shirt beneath the jacket accentuating her already impressive curves. He wondered what she wore under the tailored suit. Lace? Satin? He stopped himself. She was convinced she would hurt him, and he had already pushed his luck this morning. He shook his head. He may never get the taste of her off his mind, but if she wanted to pretend they didn’t want to devour each other every time they were in the same room, that was her prerogative.

Before I run off to go, like, work on this book, I have a question about SWAG.  What–if anything–do you look forward to receiving from authors?  What makes you think, hey I should check that chick’s book out on Kindle?  Any and all thoughts are welcome.
