The Power of Words
I used Grammarly to grammar check this post because my fat fingers can’t keep up with the speed of my wondering mind At one point or another we’ve all heard a quote or saying that touched us deeply. It moved us to change our way of thinking or to possibly step up and finally follow our dreams. On the other hand, we have also been at the brutal end of someone’s tongue lashing that left us feeling less than what we are worth; feeling an idiot, useless, or simply a bad person because of someone’s careless selfish judgments upon us. There is a great deal of POWER in words. However, that power only comes about if these words are said with passion, clarity, and said CORRECTLY! Do you think any of the following quotes would have the same impact if said in slang or if they’d had a great deal of grammatical errors? Instead of Buddha saying “Do not dwell in the past, do not dream of the future, concentrate the mind on the present moment” Would it have the same impact if it had been said as the following: “Don’t be livin’ in da past, don’t dream of da … Continue reading →

Could use some good news today?
With the birth of the royal baby just passing us I happened to think how proud Princess Diana would be to see her first grand-baby. She was such a kind loving soul and I thought of what she said once: So I got to thinking of all the troubles we hear on the news; rarely hearing of the good people are doing in their random acts of kindness. If there is anything said it is a passing mention at the end of the news; being missed by the larger population. So I decided to search the internet and find some of the most heart warming and tear jerking acts of kindness. My goal is to bring a smile to someone’s face that may be having a bad day; to show those down on their luck, that life can and does get better; to show the larger cynical population of people in the world, that there are good people out there; and to show the world that we are not selfish, cynical, and narcissistic beings by nature. We adapt to the negative traits and behavior in our environment. So why not set out to change that environment? By each one of … Continue reading →

Leaping on the bandwagon
The fun little picture above is usually what one thinks of when they think of a bandwagon. One of those happy little wagons with people singing, laughing, and having a grand old time. However, for the most part when a person leaps head first onto that bandwagon… the results looks like the picture below: So why do people take such giant leaps to be on ANY bandwagon? To be on that next big thing? Well personally I think it is because they either want to be a part of something, therefore whatever trend is making it’s way down the pike they’ll jump on. Or perhaps because they don’t want to be left out of what they see to be a great idea. You know the type, every trend that makes it’s way across the globe they’re joining in on: bell bottoms, big hair, fuzzy slippers, and all!! The writing world isn’t untouched by bandwagons. Not too long ago it seemed a large amount of the books gracing the shelves had to do with aliens; and I’m not talking the illegal kind- I’m talking the ET’s and little green men aliens. Then out came the vampires and werewolves… they were falling … Continue reading →

My latest WIP
I am hoping to get my latest work off to the presses by August of 2013; its titled My Imprisoned Life and as of now is set to be a standalone. However, Looking Through Blind Eyes of the Valentine/Petrilo Series was also initially going to be a standalone; 5 books later I was wrapping it up with Seeing Karma. This series led me on a journey I never imagined it could. SYNOPSIS FOR MY IMPRISONED LIFE When young Mayra disappears from a gas station while skipping school the residents of Charleston, W.V. fear the worse. Years go by with not a clue of her existence. Until a schoolmate turned cop discovers a mentally ill woman living a bizarre and suspicious life nearly 3 hours from her home town and where she disappeared. Could this young woman be Mayra? How did she get there and what is the connection between her disappearance and the Ventura Crime Family? When the truth finally comes out residents of both towns will be shocked. Mayra’s disappearance and secret life bring to light a world of deception, attempted murder, and a crime so heartless no one would ever believe it. EXCERPT “Thank God!” she cried, this was … Continue reading →

Awesomeness with January Valentine!!!
Today I am honored and very appreciative to have January Valentine on my website. Below is an interview she was so gracious to participate in. When did you realize writing was what you wanted to do? There wasn’t a time writing was not part of my life. Even as a child, I actually aspired to be a journalist, but as things turned out, I married right out of high school and started a family. I wrote my first novel when my second child was in diapers. When my children were “almost” grown, I took some college courses in music theory and creative writing. I’ve been writing short stories, poetry and novels for almost my entire life. How has your writing progressed since then? Wow. LOL. I’ve learned a lot about the structure of a novel, and have evolved and followed the trends. I remember when it was fine to use dual point of views in a book, then it was taboo. Now many books are using dual point of view in alternating chapters. Watching the change of styles is interesting. Being part of the wave of indies is amazing, encouraging, delightful, inspirational. I guess you get my drift. Tell us … Continue reading →
