Guidebook to Murder wins Reader’s Crown for Mystery Fiction
What else can I say…. (insert Kermit flail here.) Guidebook to Murder won the Reader’s Crown for Mystery Fiction. I’m so proud of that book. People are enjoying their trips to the best little tourist trap around, South Cove. :)

Three years later – First Bundle Release.
Yep, my first book released June 4th, 2012. The Bull Rider’s Brother was a launch book for a new F&W Press (the people who bring you Writer’s Digest) imprint. I met a lot of cool authors, made some good friends, and learned a lot about what it takes to publish/release a book.
From the story of two brothers, a girl left behind, and a secret baby, more stories of the Sullivan family came to be. The Bull Rider’s Manager, released in November 2012, and the long awaited The Bull Rider’s Keeper,
released in 2014. I self published, Shawnee Holiday, a novella set in the Bull Rider world also in 2014. And with that release, I learned more about my skill and talents as an author and a publisher.
Before the next book in the Tourist Trap series (Dressed to Kill) releases on June 23rd, I have a surprise for those who haven’t read all the books in The Bull Rider series.
The Bull Rider Collection releases on Monday. Currently, #77cents for pre-order, it’s a crazy deal.

Memorial Day 2015
My dad died when I was just over a year, so we’ve always visited the cemetery on Memorial Day. We’d cover coffee cans with aluminum foil, fill them with water and fresh flowers picked from our yard and go to north Nampa where Dad and his mom and dad were buried. I can still find their gravestones by turning at the next to last entrance, going by the maintenance shed, and looking for the Saunders’ stone.
Grandma and Grandpa Gardner were two rows up and to the west of that stone. Dad’s marker was deeper into the rows and further west. And the grave marker had Mom’s name already carved on her side of the plot. (It was cheaper that way.)
Which to be honest, kind of creeped me out as a kid. This year, my mom went to be with our dad.
We also have a new stop, my father in law passed in October, so we’ll be taking Jim’s mom out to a little Illinois graveyard to visit.
And if we were back in Idaho, we’d have to visit my step father who passed earlier this month.
It’s been a hard year.
So do you keep up the tradition of visiting the graves on Memorial Day?
And plastic flowers or real?
Lynn

Mission to Murder is on sale and on Book Bub today
Book 2 of the Tourist Trap series is on sale and on BookBub today.
In the California coastal town of South Cove, history is one of its many tourist attractions—until it becomes deadly. . .
Jill Gardner, proprietor of Coffee, Books, and More, has discovered that the old stone wall on her property might be a centuries-old mission worthy of being declared a landmark. But Craig Morgan, the obnoxious owner of South Cove’s most popular tourist spot, The Castle, makes it his business to contest her claim. When Morgan is found murdered at The Castle shortly after a heated argument with Jill, even her detective boyfriend has to ask her for an alibi. Jill decides she must find the real murderer to clear her name. But when the killer comes for her, she’ll need to jump from historic preservation to self-preservation. . .
“Murder, dirty politics, pirate lore, and a hot police detective: Guidebook to Murder has it all! A cozy lover’s dream come true.” –Susan McBride, author of The Debutante Dropout Mysteries

New Release Alert – Playing Doctor
My word count is done for the week, so I can come out and play for a bit before I dive into the laundry that needs to be done before tomorrow.
But I realized I never mentioned my big news.
I released a Kindle exclusive novella on April 29th.
Playing Doctor is a refresh of a sweet novella previously published as Temporary Roommates. (Don’t look up the title as it’s now attached to an erotic, not written by me. Or do, if you’re interested, I won’t tell.) This is the old cover.

Temporary Roommates
I wrote Playing Doctor after my cancer treatments at a local St. Louis hospital. I kept wondering where all these people who worked at the hospital lived, and what if… Which always brings me my best stories. I have more in store for Annie and Troy but I’m busy writing the new mystery series which I hope you all love. (New Cover.)
So check out Playing Doctor and remember, Dressed to Kill is releasing in a little over a month. (Squee!)
Here’s a blurb and a link if you’re interested.
When a determined nurse and a hot intern find the perfect apartment, the same perfect apartment, they must find a way to share it for ninety days, without killing each other.
Annie Baxter has her dream job. Now, all she needs is a cheap apartment close to the hospital. Troy Saunders knows his life as an intern is all about the long hours. He doesn’t have time to play doctor to some Nurse Barbie. So when his sister finds a great apartment walking distance to work and next to the best running paths in the city, he’s sold. Two leasing agents, two prospective renters, one apartment. Can they co-exist without fireworks?

Mother’s Day
This was my first Mother’s Day without my mom which made it bitter sweet. My son called early in the day to wish me a Happy Mother’s Day. (I never feel short, except when the boy is hugging me.) We sent flowers to Jim’s mom and I listened in as he called to wish her a happy day. But it just felt like I was missing doing something.
Calling my own mom. (That’s her with my big sister.)
So I took care of myself yesterday. I watched too much television (OMG, the season finale of Scorpions was intense.) I bought comfort food at the grocery store and had a surf and turf dinner. (Yum.) And I remembered all the happy times I’d shared with my mom.
What did you do to celebrate the day or take care of yourself?

Authors are people too…
Okay, so duh.
I was at the Barbara Vey Luncheon this weekend. As a reader. Or maybe as a writer disguised as a reader. Because my author brain kept popping through. Like when my table author gave us a coffee cup in our Southern Belle Starter Kit (thanks Kimberly Lang!). I listened to her talk about how nerdy it was for her to get so excited about her fictional coffee shop having it’s own logo.
All I could think about is why Coffee, Books, and More (Jill’s bookstore in the Tourist Trap mysteries) didn’t have real coffee cups. So now, I’ve got another item on my to do list. :)
And when I listened to authors listing off the multiple genres they had written in during the Q and A session, I got lost. This is one of my sins, lack of branding. So I watched the authors who did it well -Heather Graham had a real Mardi Gras face mask creator at her table. Angie Fox’s table gave readers a taste of her new southern ghost cozy mystery series. One message, one story.
As someone who writes cowboys (The Bull Rider series), cozy mysteries (The Tourist Trap series) and paranormal (The Council series), I realized my voice might be getting lost in the clan.
So I brought home a lot of ideas and thoughts and, of course, books.
Have you attended a reader’s event? I loved it. (And not just because I won Heather Graham’s generous door prize.)
Lynn
