Giveaway in Jeopardy!
There's only been one person to sign up for the giveaway so it may be in jeopardy of not happening. : ( I'm really sad about that, but that's how it goes. I guess I still don't know how to work this blogging stuff... Oh, well. Any suggestions would be well received!

Texas Word Wrangler Festival News
Finally, I received notification that my book was accepted to the 7th Annual Texas Word Wrangler Festival in September. I have a great deal of planning to do between now and then. I'm very excited to attend this event honoring Texas authors! I hope I sell out of books, as many past authors have done. Time to start thinking of ways to set up my table and make it unique. I would love to have a four foot tall Stick and Stack made of lightweight pipe to hold my sign! And I need to think about a table cloth, but don't know what to put on it. So much to do between now and September 13th!

Inspired Again!
I had a very nice lunch with two lovely colleagues yesterday! We discussed books and writing and new career paths. I was so inspired after leaving lunch that I have decided to spend the weekend writing as much as possible on the second book of The Gifted Ones series in order to complete the first draft. I cannot give up on life, like a I did with Dead Perfect, pretty much staying in my room at my computer every spare minute for a whole month, but I am going to do my best to complete the first draft of The Dream in August. Lois and company pretty much brought me back onto the path and priorities. You can't write book one of a series and leave people hanging too long for the second, so that book will take priority. Then I can go back to working on some of my other books that I would love to finish. I'm so overwhelmed right now. I wish for a "pay my bills fairy" so I can just write all day and complete these books! Haha! I guess it's a case of how bad I want to be a full time writer, and just how much I'm willing to give up to achieve that goal...
The final decision of the Texas Word Wranglers committee should be coming by the 30th. I anticipate being in Giddings, TX for the Word Wranglers festival in September, but the final say is in the hands of the committee. I love attending festivals and meeting different people. I hope they select my book.
Onward I go to work on The Dream. Giveaway coming up, which starts the 29th. I'll be spreading the word later.

Hmm...
So, I'm in class one day, and one of my students tells me she's a published author. She published a romance novel through Lulu. She would like my opinion, as another author. She's my student, but not the first student to tell me they've published a book. Anyway, she brings me a copy of the book and I tell her how busy I am and how I don't know whether I will get it read by the end of the semester. After three weeks, I finally have a chance to take a look. It's not the first "look" I might add. The first look was exactly what everyone does, flip to the middle and read a few lines. OUCH! Two weeks later, I try again. I'm on page 24 or so, and the plot is workable, but there are so many errors in the writing. It's difficult for me to not get a pencil and start marking it up. I think she tells a good story, though. I just might make it to the end. She did tell me that she found many errors in the book and that she fixed them after this first copy, so we shall see. The errors are not only grammatical, though. The style could use a lift. I will not review this book, because I don't do reviews. I just don't have the time for that. It is interesting, though, that so many people who have a story to tell can now tell it through so many means, and that most of them have an audience.

Treasures in the Chip
My first book, published through a small, independent book publisher, spurred this video on youtube! I had forgotten about it until somebody searching my author name mentioned it today. How silly! But what fun it is to be silly! Yes, these are my real animals and no they are not my real children, but they were students.

Worth the Effort!
Wow! I sure am glad I took a trip out to the cemetery to check it out while I am still working on Hog Island Love. The cemetery is nothing like I envisioned! Plus, I guess to actually see it, I will have to contact the Sheriff's Department in that area so I can get in to look around. What a great adventure! I can't wait to go there and see what I can find. At least I know what to change in the book at this point. I love adventures!!!

Changing Paths
Funny how life works. I've been considering a career change lately. I would like to open a store, a very unique store, like none I've ever seen. I've been trying to figure out how I could raise the money to begin this new venture, talking to my husband, friends, collecting ideas. Then yesterday, my brother tells me he would like to start a new business, nothing like mine, but one just as well, and still unique in its way. Is it mid life crisis? Is it boredom with our current work? I want to open a place that I will enjoy working at and that will benefit other authors in new and exciting ways. He wants to open a place that will benefit all in health. Both involve the changes we see taking place, the way the future is going, but how can we even consider it in an economy that might soon fail? No matter, I still want to do it. I will find a way if I want it bad enough. I always do. :D

Uh, Oh! In a Poetry State of Mind...
Free Me
For Candice
Who am I?Where am I supposed to be?I’ve lost myself in this world.I need to be set free.
I don’t know where I belong,Where is it I can sing?Someplace others can hear my song,I need to be set free.
No matter what comes my way,What joy my life might bring,Alone at the end of the day,I need to be set free.
Everybody busy or down.My world so cold, so lonely,Happiness rarely around,Somebody set me free.
Embrace me with your warmth,Love me as I am,Help me find my place,Somebody… please set me free!
Don’t you see me whither? All I want is to shine!I know where I will be someone!Once I am set free.
When I find my way,To my place I will be happy,Don’t cry, don’t worry about me,Because I will be set free.
I will have my wings!I will sing my song!Joy and happiness now surround me,For I have been set free!
