On 'Make America Great Again'

People, the TRAIN is WRECKED and no amount of arguing is going to put it back together again. We, as a country, are dying and no great slogan, fancy ball cap, memory test results or charts or signs waved in the media’s faces is going to make this country great again. Without healthy and secure and Alive people, there is no need for a train. What good is “great” if we can’t even define it, let alone see it, feel it, touch it, live it? Imagining a new existence for everyone is our best hope. It’s time for Revolutionary Love.

Freedom: Her name was Linda

It was 1963 in Bethany, Oklahoma. I didn’t know it was considered dangerous to be friends with the girl who laughed and skipped and played just like me. I didn’t know that the adults in my life, had they paid attention to our friendship, would have whispered in my ear that she was nothing like me. May we each consider the stories of our lives and how they impact not only ourselves, but others. May we be curious. May we do better as we know better.

On Breath, SoulStrolling, & Two Pandemics

Anything is possible! These are the moments we need right now. The moments where we step outside of ourselves, when we fall into the deep sea of longing that beckons us, when we release any knowledge of right doing or wrong doing and come up from the airless space that we swim in and we BREATHE.

Early morning musings: moons, mania, & power

Take a deep breath and sink into your body wherever you are. Nothing to do. Nowhere to be. Only here. Only now. Know this: You are safe. You are loved. Breathe again and repeat: I am safe. I am loved. I trust that all shall be well.

Pretty powerful stuff, yes?

Are you willing to be uncomfortable for social justice?

I believe in love, the healing power of art, and social justice for all people. My role at this time in history is to continue to explore and find the places where those things intersect. I'm trying to do better. I hope you'll come along with me!!

because art & poetry are essential

All is upside down.

All is backwards.

The place in-between.

Living in a Both/And World

I believe in magic and possibility for change.

I believe in action and education. Donating, protesting, making art, living a life of integrity, and speaking up on behalf of love and equality.

I believe silence is essential for healing AND silence is detrimental to change when words that need to be spoken are drowned out by fear or complacency.

I believe the duality of our existence deserves to be acknowledged and held.

On hope, art, dismantling & rebuilding

Like life (or social justice reform), art is messy. It's a process, not always clean or clear in its meaning or pathway. Often misunderstood or disappointing if looked at from the perspective of imperfection or what's not there or the dismissive 'I don't get it.'

Keep Loving the World + More Resources

My work is loving the world. Just like in metta prayer, I begin with myself and reach outward. This post includes poetry and resources for self-care and social justice education.
