We are #Alive!

This month I’m exploring the world alongside priestess, everyday pilgrim, and poet, Vanessa Sage with her invitation to Enchant Your Everyday. Mainly, I’m posting photos at Instagram, but today’s prompt, #Alive, begged for a bit more attention.

SoulStrolling™ Cuba

[image error]From January 14 – 22, 2016, I had the privilege of traveling with a small group of photographers to the island of Cuba. While I am not a photographer per se, for nine days I chose to journey through the lens of a camera. This is the first in a series of glimpses into my own act of SoulStrolling™ while there and upon returning home.

Saying YES - Thresholds & Portals

It takes a lot of practice to say 'yes' to what makes your heart sing, and 'no' to what drags it down. One of the main thoughts that I've seen (and personally experienced) is that saying 'yes' is selfish and self-centered. What will they think if...? I could never... I probably shouldn't... It costs too much money... is too extravagant... isn't worth doing. Etc. Etc. Etc. These are the voices of the naysayers.

Word Play

There is something powerful in writing things down and setting intentions. It doesn’t come from a place of SHOULD or HAVE TO. It’s more fluid than that. It’s no wonder that water (i.e. fluidity) is a symbol of transformation. I wonder what this year of reflection will bring? How will you and I allow ourselves to go with the flow in the coming months? Will we be pleased with the reflection we offer to others and ourselves?

Introducing Live it Links!

"Live it Links" is my offering to you. In them I will share the things that make me think, laugh, cry, and sometimes cringe. Simply put, they are literally "links" to stories, jokes, offerings, and meaningful words I've run across during recent days. I offer them freely. They aren't sponsored ads, just a tiny reflection from me to you. I hope they will inspire you to live, love, laugh, and give back to the world as only you can. And now without further ado...

What the Living Do

Yes, this is what the living do. We laugh. We cry. We rush from one appointment to the next. Sometimes we pause and do yoga or say a quick prayer, “Dear God. Help.” We toss god out like an empty Starbucks cup. We put on tepid smiles in a season devoted to cheer and giving, then we stuff our hands into swollen pockets.

Paris, Je t'aime! Now and Always

I tear up each time someone mentions Paris or I see the colors of the French flag displayed on a Seattle high-rise or a neighbor’s front porch. I want to pay my own tribute and feel that I don’t know how. I open my journal from a month ago and realize I didn’t feel like I knew how to pay tribute to the City of Light even before the recent tragedy.
