Video: Furious, Bellowing Stag Chases Man Around-Up Tree in London Park

Scary!

This link has the women who shot the video:

A testosterone-fuelled stag chases a man up a tree in Bushy Park, west London. A woman who filmed the incident, Lisa Acremom, describes what happened: two stags were facing up to each other when a passerby got too close, and one of the stags turned on him. The stag chased the man until he climbed a tree to safety

P.S. We’ve got just the book for this story!

Softball-Sized Eyeball Washes Up on Florida Beach [update]

Get the A1 Sauce!

It’s big, it’s blue and the newspaper says “among the possibilities being discussed are a giant squid, some other large fish or a whale or other large marine mammal.”

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission has sent the eye off for study.

On the commission’s Facebook page, folks are speculating about whales, squid, swordfish, mastodons and Big Foot. What’s your best guess (informed or otherwise)?

Uncle John’s guess: It’s a creature from the deep blue see!

Or it’s from a eye-pod of whales.

Update: Squid? Swordfish?

Happy Birthday John Prine

One of the greatest American songwriters in the long history of such turns 66 today – Happy Birthday John Prine! An Uncle John’s salute and thank you for the decades of songs to you!

From his official bio:

Some four decades since his remarkable debut, John Prine has stayed at the top of his game, both as a performer and songwriter. Recently honored at the Library of Congress by US Poet Laureate Ted Kooser, he’s been elevated from the annals of songwriters into the realm of bonafide American treasures.

Long considered a “songwriter’s songwriter,” John Prine is a rare talent who writes the songs other songwriters would sell their souls for. Evidence of this is the long list of songwriters who have recorded gems from his extensive catalog, including Johnny Cash, Bonnie Raitt, the Everly Brothers, John Denver, Kris Kristofferson, Carly Simon, Ben Harper, Joan Baez, and many others.

“He’s so good, we’re gonna have to break his fingers,” Kris Kristofferson once said after being justifiably stunned by a Prine performance. Bob Dylan remarked, “Beautiful songs… Nobody but Prine could write like that.”

Here’s one of his gems, with some help from Nancy Griffith:

The Pumpkin Poop/UJBR Internet Meme

Every year around Halloween this hilarious image makes its way around the intertubes. (Earliest one we’ve found dates to 2007.)

It was just pointed out to us that we might be familiar with the book that pooping pumpkin is reading:

That is all. Please carry on.

P.S. This was brought to our attention by BRI pal, Christine. Thank you heaps, sweetstuff…)

Killed Drug Cartel Chief’s Corpse Stolen

Somebody’s going to get their ash kicked for this. (Get it? Ash kicked? Okay. Sorry.)

Lazcano, also known as “the executioner”, was killed in a gun battle with marines on Sunday in Progreso, some 125km (80 miles) west of the Texan border in Coahuila state, the navy said.

It added that fingerprints and photographs of the body were taken before it was handed over to the local authorities in Coahuila.

Early on Monday, a group of armed men raided the funeral parlour where the corpse was being kept, and stole it, attorney general Homero Ramos told a news conference on Tuesday.

Who said the Wild West was dead?

Panoramic View of Ancient Indian Caves Carved Into Cliff

Those rotatable panoramic view tools are so cool. And this one took our breath away for a second.

Go to the link. Let it load, and take a spin with your cursor. May cause vertigo.

There are more. Lots more. Have fun. Put something in the search box. Like “Agra.” (And you can rotate the views up and down too.)

More on the Ellora Caves here and here.
