Denise Johnson - @Muhammad... I agree but in the photo of a prior generation, the young men were taught by the black men in the community how to be appropriate in their mannerisms and dress. This was in the face of severe adversity. Where is the protection for one another in this circumstance? We know our communities are constantly attacked and exploited but why were other males not communicating the degradation of this so called fashion style to the young men in the community? The corporations and media are at blame but not as much as the fathers and other black males in the community who appear to be absent in influencing the younger generations.

Very true. The difference is that the young men in the above photo are the children of mass incarcerate victims of Biden's 1994 Crime Bill. They are the fatherless fruit of an active attack by the U.S. government to fund Reagan's Contra Wars.
That means we have to try many times harder to raise the type of men our community needs than the previous generation did, because our people are war torn.
Denise Johnson - Then we need to try harder. No males in my family would even consider dressing like this. Black men need to let younger generations know how inappropriate this is. This is something the men need to do.

You pointedly referenced how the Tea Party moves within the republican party. What keeps you from moving inside of the Democratic Party the same way? Why do you need a 3rd party if the Tea Party didn't need a 3rd party?

Muhammad Rasheed - In D. W. Griffith's The Birth of a Nation film, the black-faced White actors that were hamming it up displaying their version of how buffoonish Black people are supposed to be, used many moves that are currently associated with the comedy style of the most popular member of the Three Stooges, Jerome "Curly Howard" Horwitz.
Based on the historical track record of a race-based hierarchical caste system like the USA, which of the following scenarios do you think is most likely true?
1.) As a very impressionable 12 year old when The Birth of a Nation was released in 1915, and since the film proved to be SUCH a phenomenon, Curly took on the buffoonery displayed by the over-enthusiastic racist actors for himself, and practiced them until it became his signature style.
2.) The comedy style tropes we associate with Curly were always how goofy and athletic White vaudeville comedians made fun of Black people at the turn of the century. The popularity of the Three Stooges allowed the actual origins of Curly's style to be swallowed up in history since anyone doing it during the golden age of television would then be seen as performing a 2nd rate Curly impression.
3.) Curly’s style came from White vaudeville comedians, who in turn appropriated it from an unsung Black comedian, whose name is now lost to history.

This does seem to be the cornerstone of modern religion.
Tom Luth - Look at the people that everyone points to as the perfect Christians. Marjorie Taylor Greene, Alex Jones, Donald Trump, Mike Pence... If they truly do represent Christianity accurately, then it is best I avoid it.

Who was this "everyone" and who determined that their opinions were the ones worthy of solicitation on the matter?
Tom Luth - Anytime a faux-"Christian" is featured on the news, etc., it is one of these far-right Nazis proclaiming their Christian values.
Tom Luth - This is si9milar to the teachings in my Baptist church in the 70s, and why I left. They sited Nixon, Lt Calley and Reagan as examples of fine Christians while condemning Jimmy Carter as a pawn of Satan. They promoted racism and hate, and it did not feel like the values I wanted to be associated with.
Muhammad Rasheed - We've discussed this before. The first thing we do is to go to the source texts and see what God said about the matter, and then audit the claims of those who presume to speak/act in God's Name.
It's not smart to throw the baby out with the bathwater because we found foolish babies woefully failing to live up to the ideals of the faith they claim to subscribe to.
Currently, I'm arguing with an Indian Muslim who is weirdly under the impression that the infamously wretched caste system his ethnic group performs is somehow "Islamic" for no other reason than because his group subscribes to Islam while they practice it. Humans are not representative of the faith — the source texts are the faith. Humans, as usual, do nothing but beckon one another to hellfire.
Tom Luth - However, people are seriously divided on the meanings of the source texts, hence Christianity being subdivided into over 3,000 denominations, each with a different interpretation.
