Q: Contrary to what you were told as a child, what are some things you were surprised to find out the Bible actually doesn't contain?

Muhammad Rasheed - The idea that God and the devil are equally powerful and battle for the earth in a cosmic tug-of-war. This has always been the message shown in cartoons, stand-up comedy and in other simplified media programming. It didn’t take long to discover this version of religion wasn’t taught by the Abrahamic religions once I started paying attention to my spiritual walk in my mid- to late teens, and I became actively suspicious of the message when I started to deep dive into religion in my early 20s. Thanks to the detailed research of Robert Bauval and Graham Hancock, I believe I see where the media’s influence with this concept is actually coming from.
Dick Harfield - As a child, I was told how Abraham, as a young boy, destroyed all but one of his father’s idols and claimed that the surviving idol had done this. When his father said this was impossible because the idols were simply lifeless statues, Abraham said this proves the gods are not real. So I was quite surprised in later life to discover this is not in the Bible but is just a midrash of less than two thousand years ago. A lot of people misled me.

Muhammad Rasheed - This actually happened, but was left out of the canon of sacred scripture by the discretion of the Judao-Christian priesthood for reasons of their own. The tale is confirmed as true in the Qur’an.

With respect, a claim that this actually happened has to be backed up by independent evidence.

Again, with respect, the Quran is not that independent evidence, being either based on Judeo-Christian or at least susceptible to influence by the prior traditions.

In this case, the claims of the One God in sacred scripture function as their own evidence and lay outside of the rules of the scientific method as superior Matters of Faith. Here, the duel between philosophers is one using the blades of contextual analysis accuracy instead of material proofs.

The Qur’an is the final testament in the enduring scripture of the ages, revealed to confirm & fulfill the messages preached by the prophets of olde, and to correct those areas the people of the book allowed their precious charges to stray by way of their slipshod guardianship. The Qur’an is exactly what it claims to be per the Supreme Creator who revealed it in His mercy.

I don’t know any of that to be true. I am sure it is strongly believed by many, but faith is not evidence. Sorry.

It’s not supposed to be; faith is faith. “Evidence” is not the activating principle in a belief system — faith is, hence the term. Insisting that material world tools be forced into matters of faith is no more an intelligent approach to the topic than insisting one uses a fishing rod to hammer in a nail. We use the proper tools for their proper applications. This is the correct approach.

Hardman David Alan - stop turning to the White man who you say keeps you oppressed to fix your problems for you.

You are adults, we agree you have autonomy to make your own choices and decisions.

The problems you face are yours to solve with your own communities. Stop coming to us with hands open asking and demanding for things. Deal with the issues yourselves and prosper to make yourselves the envy of other places.

Muhammad Rasheed - Literally everything you think about the Reparations item is 100% wrong and uninformed. You should actually read Dr. Darity's book so you'll understand me instead of just making up anti-Black racist nonsense and trying to pass it along to me as truth.

I have stated a simple thing and its one that you need to re-read.

It isn't on other people to fix your problems for you. Fix them yourselves by building a community that helps each other and helps glorify the things that make things better instead of what makes things worse.

Remove drugs and gang violence from your neighbourhoods, stop allowing single motherhood, stop glorying abortion, start pushing schooling, afterschooling and working with things like SkillShare by creating a community resource that can pay for a singular account that can be used to access different things that different kids are failing at so they can learn things.

Do these things, stop blaming the people outside for things that aren't fixing your problems today and start making your communities places that people will want to live, will want to work in and will want to hire from.

Do these things and in 1 generation you will be the envy of other communities.

Imaginary money coming from the government that you've said is the primary cause of the problems - which is what you are saying is the reason for reparations - will not fix anything, just make you more dependant on those you say are already oppressing you

Rather than see the problems inherent in the communities, you would rather externalise the problems and seek for things that don't fix the issues, but compound on them.

You don't want solutions, you want free money.

From the people you are saying oppress you.

So you want MORE of the things that will oppress you, more red tape, more things to make you dependent on the government.

Rather than building a community that enriches you seek to tear things down.

This is why people don't want to hear this and people don't want to help.

You don't want to help yourselves, you want the government to give you things

Q: Why did Obama get so much disrespect from some white people? Is it because he’s a black man?

Muhammad Rasheed - The identified behavior actually had much less to do with president Obama’s own race and much more to do with the over-inflated hopes that the American Descendants of Slavery (ADOS) placed upon him. After decades of being convinced that the ‘flat-blackness’ preached by the Pan-Africanists and Afrocentrists was true, ADOS assumed that because the biracial son of a Kenyan was also black, that he would champion the Black Political Agenda and uphold the demands of the Civil Rights Act of 1866 – repairing 400 yrs of economic damage with an aggressive infusion of wealth in a comprehensive Reparations program and a protected economic inclusion into the ownership class. This woefully naïve belief by the ADOS community was so strong that it caused the white racist aristocracy to panic, thinking that perhaps Obama really was going to flip their precious, self-serving white supremacist racket upside-down on its head, hence their savage and blatant discriminatory acts in response to “Obamamania.”
