So, here's the deal...

Allied In Flight is ready to go. It's been through both editors and all it lacks is proofreading.

The thing is...both my editors agree... it can be better.

So, I've decided not to publish it...yet.

I have a new ending to write for it that will add another 12-15,000 words to the already existing story.

Originally, I'd planned on releasing it March 24th. I'm still shooting to as close to that as I can get, but I'm not going to release it until it's truly ready...and I'm not sure when that will be.

I'm sorry. I hate delaying it. But I want  you to get the best story I possibly can.

I'll try to keep you informed about when that will be.

First Line Friday: Allied In Flight

First Line Friday
The idea is we'll all share (unedited) snippets from one of our current Works In Progress or a previous release. Sometimes it will be the first line. Sometimes it will be a little excerpt. It will depend on what's inspiring me Thursday night. ;)
Allied in Flight, book #2 in the Through the Veil series is set to release March 24th.
Here is the very first line of the book...

A rescue gone wrong.
It was supposed to be simple. Four members from the Western States planned to sneak into the Eastern States to free four condemned Others. But when they arrived at the experimental labs where the Others were being held, it was under attack from Rebel forces.
Griff Hughes had one job...
He had to find Shar, a wounded hawk shifter. But in the ensuing chaos, he became a captive instead of a rescuer. Three days later he awakens in his own cage, alone. But during the nights, he’s not alone. An alluring redhead with a siren’s call visits his dreams, and his resistance is breaking down.
Shar McIntire is just trying to survive.
After three years in captivity, Shar has one goal...keep her and her sister alive. To do so means cooperating with the evil doctors who want her to seduce and manipulate Griff.  She likes and is drawn to the man with the strange chocolate wings, but she can’t let that attraction distract her. Her sister’s fate is in her hands.
In the last eighteen years, life hasn’t been easy for anyone.
The WS and the ES have been separate entities, but once the Veil was crossed, things began to evolve. It’s a new world, but that doesn’t mean it’s going to get any easier anytime soon.

Tagline Tuesday: Allied in Flight

The idea...I'll share a quick tagline from one of my books. It could be about the book, the series, or even about one of the characters. I plan to have fun with this throughout the year. Hopefully, you'll like the tiny glimpses into the story lines, too.

Today, I'm sharing a tagline from book #2 in my paranormal dystopian romance series, Allied in Flight. This book releases March 24th, so you're going to be hearing about it lots this month.

Don't forget that right now, Through the Veil, book #1 in the series is available for only $.99. You'll want to read this one before the next two come out.
Allied in Flight will release March 24th.
Preorder buttons will be going up this week and I will update my blog as they go live.

Reality...

I just took my tax information to my accountant.
Reality...I'm a self-publishing author.
That means all expenses for putting out my books falls to me...editingcover design and photo costsgiveawaysadvertising
All of that costs money.
This year my royalties for ALL of my 14 books were $14,379
My costs were $14,855.
That means I worked...all year. Every day.Every weekWith VERY FEW days off. ever.for FREE.
In fact, it cost my family money for me to release the five books that I released last year.
That's my reality. And it's one that makes me wonder why I should write today.

Tagline Tuesday: Marcus from Through the Veil

The idea...I'll share a quick tagline from one of my books. It could be about the book, the series, or even about one of the characters. I plan to have fun with this throughout the year. Hopefully, you'll like the tiny glimpses into the story lines, too.

Today, I'm sharing another tagline from my paranormal dystopian romance series, Through the Veil. This tagline is about the hero in the first book, Marcus. Marcus is a Warrior and a workaholic...because he has nothing else left. He's been through a lot, but nothing prepares him for what happens when Lori crosses the Veil. Suddenly he discovers that she's everything he never knew he was missing and that's not something that's easy for him to accept.

And don't forget that right now, Through the Veil, book #1 in the series is available for only $.99. You'll want to read this one before the next two come out.

Story Overview: 58 years ago a gorge opened up from Mobile, AL to Quebec City, Canada to split the United States into the Western States (WS) and the Eastern States (ES).40 years later a fog rolled in on the WS that they called the Veil. Within twelve hours it formed an impenetrable wall between the two sides. It’s been 18 years since anyone has known what’s happening on the other side of the Veil. Now, Lori, an Other, in a desperate attempt at escape from the ES’s torture and experimentation, has crossed the Veil and found a world beyond belief.Marcus is a Warrior, but when Lori collapses at his feet wounded and exhausted, he knows he has to protect her. But seeing that she’s the first person he’s seen in 18 years without wings, he’s worried about what her appearance means for his people and the world they’ve created since the Veil fell. Two new societies: one built on a respect for the natural order of nature and the world, the other built on mistrust and corruption. Can they learn to co-exist once again? Amazon Barnes & Noble Kobo   iBooks

Grab a Margarita and a hot Alpha!

Best Female Country Artist. Sold out world-wide tour. Record-setting album sales. It’s been a stellar year for Skye Taylor and it’s left her exhausted. All she wants to do is go home to Oklahoma, curl up in her little house, and veg out in pj’s with a pile of junk food. But when her tour bus crashes in the middle of West Texas, her priorities suddenly shift. Now she’s sitting bedside hoping her best friend and bodyguard, KC, survives.
For Scott Martin, he simply wants this horrible year to end. After the murder of his brother, his family is falling apart. With one crisis after another pulling him back to the family ranch, he’s put way too many late night miles on his truck between his family home and Lubbock, where he works as a paramedic. When he comes upon the wrecked tour bus, he has no idea this is one emergency which will change his life forever.
Skye and Scott quickly form a friendship which hints at possibilities of more. But as these two dodge paparazzi, over-zealous label executives, and stalker fans, they soon discover that everything is easier when you have someone you trust RIGHT BY YOUR SIDE. And that becomes even more important when they discover the bus wreck wasn’t an accident…

First Line Friday: Aaron and Bethany in Through the Veil

First Line Friday
The idea is we'll all share (unedited) snippets from one of our current Works In Progress or a previous release. Sometimes it will be the first line. Sometimes it will be a little excerpt. It will depend on what's inspiring me Thursday night. ;)

Today I'm sharing another first line from Through the Veil. This book is the first of an 8-book series that takes place in a dystopian future world where the United States has been split into two different countries separated by an impenetrable barrier, called the Veil. On the Western side of the Veil, a woman named Bethany became the leader. She's the heroine in book #3, Rejecting Destiny. Her hero is Aaron, the leader of the Warriors, the law enforcement branch of the WS.
They have a great first scene in Through the Veil. Since I just sent their book off to my beta readers (yep, #3 will be out in April), I thought it might be fun to share their first lines on the page. These two have had a relationship for twenty years and I love them together, even when they don't agree.
(For the complete story descriptions of books #2 and #3, you can check out the Coming Soon page...HERE )

(click on the graphic and it will open bigger in a new window so that it's easier to read)

This week that redesign released at an all new low price of $.99 for the ebook
