The Writing Process for Kait Nolan

Author Kait Nolan has just released her debut novella Forsaken by Shadow and I asked her to write up a post on the writing process so, y'know, I have something to post. Here's what she wrote, and she has some good ideas you should check out.

The Process of Finding My Process by Kait Nolan

When NL Gervasio asked me to write a post about my writing process, I have to confess that I groaned.  It's another one of those questions I really don't know how to answer.  I don't have a process!  Which...

Breaking the Fourth Wall

For those who aren't writers or in theater, the title may confuse you a little. You may not understand what the fourth wall is, or how it's broken. We're going to focus mainly on writing for this post, since I'm a writer more than an actor, and explain exactly what the fourth wall is, but first I do have to tell you where it came from … enter the actor.

So why is it called the fourth wall and not the third or second wall? The term originated in theater and is an "imaginary wall" through which ...

Book Covers

I recently had a conversation with a new Twitter friend and author J.A. Saare about book covers. She posted a link to her blog where she discussed designing the cover for her book Dead, Undead, or Somewhere in Between (which looks really good and I have to read it–going in the TBR pile). I thought it was just cool and awesome that she designed the cover herself and I now wish I had PhotoShop and the immediate ability to use it. I use PowerPoint. Why? Because I'm really good with PowerPoint...

Two Things

First, I review books here, and I just put two up. Both are along the erotic romance lines and both of them are good books. The first review is on Seducing the Moon by Sherrill Quinn, who is also an Arizona resident like me. The second review is on First Date by Lynne Roberts, whom I had the wonderful opportunity to meet recently and talk about writing over Starbucks. My kind of girl!

Second, I also run an online magazine called Forever Nocturne with my friend Sharon Gerlach that you can...

Lisa Mantchev Interview and Contest

If you liked EYES LIKE STARS by Lisa Mantchev, you may want to jump over to CJ Redwine's blog because she (I mean Captain Jack Sparrow) interviewed Lisa and there's a giveaway going on. You can enter to win an ARC of PERCHANCE TO DREAM, the sequel to EYES LIKE STARS. There's also a chance to win a paperback copy of EYES LIKE STARS.

You have until Saturday, April 17th, 8pm. I'm going to guess that's in CJ's timezone, which is CST, I think.

So what are you waiting for? Get moving!

Let's Just Stick to the Writing

Welcome to the WordPress blog!

I have several blogs, but felt I should perhaps have one strictly dedicated to the writer side of me. Y'know, one where I don't swear or rant or wind up complaining about an ex or two that has you possibly contemplating the status of my mental health. Yes, we all know it's in question, and yes, it's the reason I write.

What you will see on this blog is anything and everything that has to do with the publishing industry, from author interviews to helpful writing t...

Easter, Yo!

APRIL FOOL'S! THERE IS NO POST!

Kidding …

However, I am not kidding about the fact that this post has the potential to offend you if you're overtly religious, but let's face it, folks, God has a freakin' sense of humor too. Otherwise, we wouldn't have a sense of humor and there wouldn't exist such a creature as the platypus. Point shot and hopefully taken. If you're too narrow-minded to get

On Love

There are so many people writing about friendship lately, and not so much writing about what it is, but rather questioning it. I don't think there is a question to friendship. It is what it is. 'Nuff said. If you have to question it … well, there you go.
So this post is about something else … It's about love.
There are many different types of love in the world … love for your mate, love for

Copyright Infringement

Well, it's certainly been an interesting couple of days around my little part of the world. To start, I Googled myself the other day (yes, I know that sounds bad) and discovered this "lovely" review of Forever Nocturne e-zine. It's a year-old review, but a review nonetheless, and not a good one. Normally, I wouldn't think twice about it and brush it off like most negative things in my life (yes,
