How Did Egyptians Move Giant Stones? Wet Sand.

News: Until now, how ancient Egyptians were able to move giant stones and statues has remained a puzzle. Physicists from the FOM Foundation and the University of Amsterdam have worked out the answer, and it's both simple and brilliant:

Why would wet sand help matters? Wet sand is firm and smooth. Water makes the sand granules stick together. When you move a sled over wet sand, it glides easily. Move the same sled over dry sand, and the sand piles up in front of it.
