🔥 Snowshoes and Drones? 🔥
I often like to share facts stranger than fiction related to my books. As part of Masters of May series, I’ve brought you facts stranger than fiction about Canadian Assassin, the first book in my longest-running spy thriller series featuring Justin Hall.
Here's more:
The US and Canada are having joint military exercises in the Arctic to showcase their strength. They’re testing cutting-edge equipment, but also using good-old snowshoes, very useful when the fight gets close up and personal. One of the objectives of the US-Canada cooperation is to deter Russia’s ambition in the Arctic, since Russia is eyeing the vast natural resources in the Arctic and its shipping routes.
Arctic fighting has major challenges. Freezing temperatures quickly cause frostbite to exposed skin. “Smart” radio batteries die and will not charge, diesel can freeze, engines break down, metal firearms and goggles become coated. Another big problem is the lack of experience of most soldiers in such an environment.
A new cutting-edge technology being tested in the Arctic against any invaders is drones, both surface and underwater. Canada is studying Ukrainian technologies as they’re being developed in their ongoing fight against Russia.
Underwater drones? Yep!
But how does Justin Hall work together with the US military in defending the Arctic? What are the weather challenges he faces? And what technologies does Justin use to save his team and his country?
And what about his other 15 missions spanning the globe?

🔥 Why Are Canadian Butts Cracking? 🔥
Why Are Canadian Butts Cracking?
Here are some “cheeky” facts stranger than fiction I thought I’d share…
It’s about butt cracks, but not the typical ones… 😉
It’s about C19 rifles issued to Canadian Rangers, who patrol and protect the Arctic. The Finnish-designed C19 bolt action .308 service rifles were supposed to stand up to the cold in this freezing part of the world. However, in just two years, the rifles wooden butts have developed cracks because of moisture absorption.
It appears the problem was that Colt Canada didn’t put sufficient protective finish to properly seal the wood from the extreme environmental exposure. Colt then worked to develop a new butt without cracks and is going to replace the guns that have had problems. I can’t wait until Canada is no longer the butt of jokes…
Sorry, but you have to chuckle.
How crazy is that? I just can’t make this stuff up…
But what guns does Justin Hall use when he’s fighting in the Arctic? What role do the Canadian Rangers play in Justin’s operation? And what will he have to do to save not just himself and his team, but also his country?

🔥 Canadian Assassin was Born…🔥
I want to share some exciting news with you today: 13 years ago, in May 2012, I was blessed to publish my first spy thriller, Arctic Wargame. It was a dream come true for me to get my first book out there, in the hands of supportive readers like you.
Arctic Wargame was retitled Canadian Assassin, to fit more with the main character, his skills, abilities, and persona. Justin Hall, the Canadian Intelligence Service (CIS) spymaster became a larger-than-life character bringing you covert operations in all corners of the globe. Justin Hall is my longest-running series, which stands complete, with 16 full-length novels.
So, please celebrate with me reaching this great landmark. I would have never thought that in 13 years, I would be able to pen and publish 52 spy, assassin, and suspense thrillers. It’s been a wild ride and I thank you for riding shotgun during this journey. It wouldn’t have been possible without God’s blessings and your amazing support.
So thank you for 13 wonderful years, and hoping there are many, many more years to come, giving you clean, clever, and captivating thrillers you can enjoy.
